Dawnpelt was chilled at the thought of what Flamestar had gone through. Thank Starclan he had more than one life...but how many lives left does he have?, Dawnpelt thought briefly before shaking the thought away. " You may have lost that battle, but you lived to save your clan, " she said softly. " The pines would help bring the sun...I suppose that's why you wanted to go to Pineclan, " she said, thinking aloud.

Dawnpelt scanned the area, checking to see if Tigerstripe had seen to all those who were injured or unnerved in any way. " I'm going to speak with Tigerstripe and Flamestar, stay with the kits..." she purred, uncurling herself from being wrapped around Sunkit and Bramblekit. She padded across the clearing to where Tigerstripe was tending to Flamestar, and sat beside them, wrapping her tail neatly around her paws. " Flamestar..." she said, not sure how to begin. " What happened this morning?" she mewed, looking nervously as his wounds, though relieved to see that Tigerstripe treated him well.

Dawnpelt lay down and curled her tail around her kits, pulling them closer to her. She looked around at her clan, everyone sharing the same lost, defeated look in their eyes. What a sight, she thought, and glanced ahead at the mountain rising above the trees. What will Pineclan think? And we bring them the news of Hawkpool as well..., Dawnpelt thought with a pain of regret.

Dawnpelt nodded and guided the clan into the low lying area that Flamestar pointed out. She brought her herb bundles to Tigerstripe, placing them down. "I think you should see to Flamestar first, he has recovered from losing a life, but..." Dawnpelt trailed off as she glanced at her leader.

Sunkit walked close to Bramblekit, shivering slightly. She had heard most of what Ashpelt said to Duskwind, and didn't understand. Who is Hawkpool? Did Duskwind love her?, she pondered, confused.

Dawnpelt followed Ashpelt's gaze to the kits, noticing Sunkit's woeful expression. This is too much tragedy for ones so young, she thought. " We must stay on our guard, " she said, bending to pick up her herb bundles, and resuming walking along with the clan, nudging her kits along gently.

Duskwind shouldered past the other cats, not seeing them or caring of the looks he got. He walked on ahead past Flamestar, and pushed through the undergrowth, branches scratching at his pelt. Hawkpool....Redkit...my kit..., his thoughts were weak, not being able to form words inside or out. He came into the turtle rock clearing, and stared at the mountain looming ahead of him. For the first time, the sight of the mountain pained him in a way he could barely comprehend.

Duskwind gave Ashpelt a look as if he hadn't heard him correctly, " What? How could she...a kit...", Duskwind trailed off, unable to process the emotions that he was feeling. " This isn't real...", Duskwind muttered, looking down. Dawnpelt took a step forward, and Duskwind shot her an angry glane. " Please. I need to be alone, " he said, and padded past Ashpelt and Dawnpelt, ahead of the clan.

Dawnpelt watched as her brother stalked away, her face with a pained expression. " A kit? How did she tell you? Was she still alive when you found her?," she asked Ashpelt after Duskwind had gone ahead.
