I sighed and put my back to the wall. "So much for living." I suddenly felt a light pressure on my shoulder. I turned my head to look, and saw a familiar red cardinal. "Well, this is a terrible plan, but it's better than nothing." He turned into a staff, and I cast a spell circle to unlock the cage. With how drained and exhausted I was, I knew I only had a few more spells until i'd have to rest for a while. "Ugh, I guess I can't exactly hope for help. I'm an Alpha and a failure."

I felt my staff fly out of my hand, snapping in half as it hit the hard floor. I managed to catch myself and stop myself from getting hurt too bad, but I knew that this was over once my staff broke. The puppet spell I had cast on the child faded, and I no longer had a weapon. "Fine, you win. I hope you enjoy the execution." I choked out my last sentence, then everything went black.
