"I'll chop up the wood," Suzume offered. It wasn't her who saved everyone... It was Hisoka. And he was gone now.

Not even yesterday, he was alive... He was still with them all. Suko, maybe even Kowai. And... Everyone who died.

But as the stagnant darkness gripped over her... She remembered something else that brought her unease. One of the memoirs in this room...

Did it matter? Perhaps she was overthinking it...

Suzume sighed as she walked to the kitchen. "I remember... the last time I was here. Was it only a few hours ago? I was searching for bodies, to see... who might be dead." She laughed quietly. "...you know, it's... kind of horrible. Kowai said she was drowning around the time that Akihiro died. And... she actually drowned, in the pool room."

"We're coming... everyone," Suzume stated wistfully, a sad smile upon her face. Her eyes were clouded over.

Everyone... I'm coming. We'll remember and honor you all. Thank you... for dying, so that we could live.

There was a hole where her heart should have been. It felt as though someone had carved it out.

The darkness still didn't release its clawed grip, and she almost found herself smiling at it, much as it weighed her down...

It just didn't feel right. That all of them were alive now, when everyone else was dead.
"I suppose... we can have a fire."

She saw the faded outline of Megami, with a happy expression on her face. “Maybe… this is what she wants?” she wondered aloud.

I never realized how attached I'd grow, to all the people here... to everyone who is gone. To everyone who is still here. I never realized... how much they'd mean to me. I came here, only caring about my own self-preservation. Only caring about the possible opportunities. But now... it's all so, so different."

We're free... so why do I still feel trapped?

"I... see," she murmured. "It's... it's okay, Hisoka. We forgive you..."

"We'll remember you, Hisoka," Suzume choked out. "We... always will."

Suzume slowly walked back over to her podium. So... this was it, wasn't it? The masterminds were dead, the traitor was going to die...

And yet this felt so empty. So, so empty...

He was... going to be gone. It didn't feel quite real. And she could never, ever make up for all that she said, all that she did.

"I'll remember you until the day I die, Hisoka. It's the least I can do. I can never make up for every thought I've had about you, every word I've spoken... but, for what it's worth, I'm sorry. I'll always... consider you a friend. I'll always honor your memory..."

She hung her head, and tears silently left her eyes, dripping onto her podium like a quiet rain.

"And Suko too..."

A choice he had to make... just like my own, that I'll have to make, she thought.

Koda Starikuma's POV


"Hisoka, I'm... sorry too," Koda said reluctantly. "I wish we could have been friends. I wish we could have understood each other better, I..." She put her hands up to her face. "But... how could you... kill Suko?"

She didn't know how to process all this... Suko. Kowai. Hisoka... all dead. She wasn't sure how to feel about any of it, except her dear green-haired friend, with the chaotic attitude and the goofy smile.
