Listen I just wanted to start this thread to give some love to my favorite non-rival characters, mostly because the rivals are the most talked about characters in most generations, maybe aside from the villains so I just wanted to give them some love. To get things started I would just like to say I REALLY love Grimsley and he's the reason that I wish the Elite Four were more story-relevant because he seems like he'd be fun to vibe with

He has a really neat design, he's one of 3 dark type elite four members and I feel he embodies the vibe best (ALSO HE HAS A LIEPARD and I love seeing Liepard on teams, it's the best regional cat). I was so happy to see him return in Alola along with Colress (who is also one of my favs), and his new design with the white hair? *chefs kiss* beautiful, amazing, no notes. He's a diva, an icon, sure he canonically is a gambler but he at least isn't spending money he doesn't have lol being in the elite four has GOT to pay well.

Anyways what non-rival characters do you guys like

I have personal beef with Barboach because I needed it for the pokedex in gen 9 and it was unreasonably hard to find

Backstory

For decades, the Wigglytuff Guild was the heart and soul of exploration in the region. Its members were renowned not only for their strength and skill but for their unwavering belief in friendship and teamwork. The guild wasn’t just an organization—it was a family, and Wigglytuff's boundless enthusiasm was the glue that held it together.

......

However...

Time began to take its toll. Explorers grew older, missions grew riskier, and new threats emerged. While Wigglytuff remained as cheerful as ever, even the most optimistic Pokémon could see that the guild was not what it used to be. Members retired, moved on to new ventures, or, in rare cases, vanished during dangerous expeditions.

The final straw came when Wigglytuff himself, once an indomitable force, announced his intention to retire. He had given everything to the guild, and now, he wanted to see the world he had helped protect. Chatot, his ever-loyal partner, echoed his sentiment, urging the remaining members to forge their own paths and carry the guild's legacy in their hearts. As the guild prepared to close its doors, Wigglytuff revealed one last secret: a treasure he had never pursued, even at the height of the guild’s power. According to Wigglytuff, the treasure wasn’t just a collection of riches—it was a relic tied to the very foundation of exploration itself. Stories suggested it could grant wisdom, power, or even reshape the natural balance of the region.

However, Wigglytuff believed that the treasure should only be found by those truly worthy of it. To safeguard its location, he divided the map leading to it into several pieces and entrusted them to guilds he deemed capable of carrying on the spirit of exploration. The pieces were meant to serve as a test, requiring cooperation and unity to piece them together.

But without the Wigglytuff Guild to mediate disputes, the map fragments became a source of contention. Instead of uniting the guilds, they began to splinter further, each claiming that their approach was the rightful way to honor Wigglytuff's legacy.

The Current Landscape

The new guilds are fiercely competitive, each trying to establish itself as the region’s dominant force. The Verdant Horizons Guild advocates for unity and preservation, the Ironclad Brigade seeks to conquer and lead through strength, and the Shadowveil Order moves in secrecy, its true motives unclear.

Without the Wigglytuff Guild’s influence, many adventurers have chosen to operate independently. Some are altruistic, believing that guilds have become corrupt, while others are opportunistic treasure hunters who see the Fading Treasure as their golden ticket.

Extra Info

The Guilds

Show hidden content
The Verdant Horizons Guild
Philosophy: "Harmony through exploration."
Leader: Sunbeam (Espeon)
Verdant Horizons is a nature-focused guild with a deep respect for balance and preservation. They believe that exploration should enhance the natural world rather than disrupt it. Known for their meticulous research and pacifist approach, this guild prioritizes cooperation over competition.

Base: A sprawling treehouse within Tiny Woods, meant to be easily accessible to those who need help.
Affiliated town: Lushgrove
Specialty: Mapping uncharted territories, documenting rare Pokémon and plants, and solving ecological mysteries.
Quirks: They avoid conflict whenever possible, which some see as weakness. They hold one piece of the treasure map but are hesitant to pursue it without mediation.

~~~
The Ironclad Brigade
Philosophy: "Strength builds legacy."
Leader: Brassjaw (Aggron)
The Ironclad Brigade is a martial guild that values strength, discipline, and reputation. They believe that the strongest explorers should lead, and they don’t shy away from challenging other guilds or rogues to prove their dominance.
Base: A fortified base carved into a mountainside in Mt Steel.
Affiliated town: Emberhold
Specialty: Combat missions, treasure recovery, and escorting high-risk clients.
Quirks: Brassjaw openly declares the guild’s intent to claim the treasure, seeing it as their rightful path to leadership. They hold a piece of the map and guard it fiercely.
~~~

The Shadowveil Order
Philosophy: "Knowledge is power."
Leader: Umbrus (Zoroark)
The Shadowveil Order operates shrouded in mystery, making them as feared as they are respected. Focused on uncovering hidden truths and ancient secrets, they see the Fading Treasure as a key to something much larger. While other guilds mistrust their secretive nature, no one can deny their expertise in puzzles and ancient lore.

Base: A hidden cavern near the Murky Cave.
Affiliated town: Duskmire Hollow
Specialty: Solving ancient riddles, stealth missions, and uncovering lost histories.
Quirks: The guild thrives on secrecy and deception, often operating in the shadows. They are rumored to have two pieces of the map, but no one knows for sure.

The Rogues

Show hidden content
Not every adventurer aligns with a guild. Many operate as free agents, either unwilling to bow to guild politics or working in pursuit of personal gain.

Philosophy: "Freedom above all."
Notable Figures:
Echo (Noivern): A smooth-talking treasure hunter with a knack for finding what others can’t.
Grinder (Gurdurr): A mercenary-for-hire who takes on high-risk jobs for the right price.
Lune (Mimikyu): A mysterious figure rumored to be seeking the treasure for deeply personal reasons.
Quirks: Rogues form loose alliances but are notoriously unpredictable. Some are idealistic, seeking to protect the treasure from guild squabbling, while others aim to claim it for themselves.

Dustin looks around, hands in his pockets. He does his best to stay at the back of the crowd, glaring defiantly at the man at the gate. He clenches his jaw, trying to think of a way he could get out of this. He starts backing away, and turns around, almost running directly into Damian and Fawkes. Dustin yelps in surprise, but then covers his mouth, embarrassed that such a noise came from his mouth.

"...Arceus, you scared me!" Dustin annoyedly huffs, glancing down at Damian and Fawkes. "...You guys wanna ditch this place?"
