I did whatever it took to get ahead... I... College was never easy. It was... never easy. It was so hard. And nothing... nothing can justify what I did. Not how others treated me. Not the notes that were left. Not the beatings I endured. Not the words. Not the embarrassment. Not the fake friends I had, or the stress I was under. I cheated in class to complete my assignments, to pass my exams... I ruined other students' reputations, even their lives. I got them expelled from school. I ruined all their futures, just to keep the teachers' attention elsewhere. ...Many of them... wound up killing themselves because of what I did. ...Many of them, wound up with all their family members, looking at them in disgust and disappointment. ...the principal brought me in many a time, and I'd always lie straight to her face. Suzume Fujimori's POVFor a future that she had dreamed of from the time she was young. But she had never thought herself a romantic. Science, ideas, experiments, facts, theories, insights, formulas... all occupied her mind. But, love? She'd only known the love of her fathers, and no one else. And yet, it wasn't like her parents even knew the full scope of what was... her. She was grateful to them. But she'd never had a genuine friend, a genuine lover. "I don't know what to do. I guess... I'll just... somehow explain this whole thing to my college. Maybe the whole thing can be sorted out, or, I could find another college, start over, earn my degree... get a job..." Suzume Fujimori's POVTo shape herself into that "adult" she desperately wanted to be, who had it all together... Had all the rest struggled with the same? She was a scientist. That was who she was. That was who she had to be. And scientists always stay calm, they always stay patient... No matter what. They don't show their emotions unless they're of importance. Logical, analytical, cold, calculating, intelligent... But she was not all that. She was not all that deep down. She was the little girl poreing away at her scientific textbooks, collapsed over at the computer researching... Who tried braiding her hair and it went disastrously wrong, her dad had to braid it for her... She always kept one lock in a little hair tie, reminding her... She didn't want anyone to die. It was all a lie. And Megami... Had been the only one to ever crack the code. The only one to open her up. To see the truth, like a true scientist does. And she would forever love her...
