Ray followed Nikolai out of the lab after having collected her Pokéballs from Professor Elm, and thanking him. Peering over his shoulder, Ray could see, on Nikolai's Pokégear, that their first gym would be a Flying-type Gym. Ice, Rock and Electric are super-effective against Flying. she thought, quoting one of the textbooks she read in her spare time. I'll need to do some research on what kind of Pokémon learn these types of moves, so I can help catch, trade and breed them for my friends who will be challenging the gym. Glad she had a goal now, Ray happily swept Ollie off his stubbt little legs and popped him on her shoulders. Beaming radiantly, she turned to face New Bark Town for the last time in a long while and waved goodbye.
Ray noticed others putting their Pokémon back in their Pokéballs, and she felt a little self-conscious not doing the same, but she decided to ignore the uncomfortable feeling and be happy she had Ollie with her.

Ray held up Ollie in excitement. "I'm ready to explore Johto!" she yelled, before realizing she has said that really loudly for the small lab. Slightly embarassed, she took Ollie down from her shoulders and set him on the ground next to her, patting his head lovingly. I hope I complete my Pokédex like the others, and become well-acquainted with different types of Pokémon. she thought to herself worriedly. However she brushed off the negativity by smiling, and mingling with her friends.

The Oshawott smiled back at Ray, and waved a little shell that she had previously assumed to be part of the belly pattern. Placing the little guy on her shoulders, she walked over to Asuna with a smile. "What should I name him?" she inquired, smiling at her and her Froakie. "I'm thinking Ollie." At this, the Oshawott brightened up and squealed with delight. "Osh-osh-oshawaa!" he exclaimed excitedly.

The sun was very warm on face as she rolled over, opening her eyes to the blinding sun. The time on the alarm clock caught her eye though. 9AM!? She was late by half an hour meet up with her friends and Professor Elm at his Lab. Horrified with herself, she jumped out of bed, and pulled open her dresser drawers. She slipped quickly into some grey capris and a grey-and-white hoodie, and tied her short hair into two knotted pigtails before sprinting downstairs to the kitchen. Before running out to the barn to feed the Miltanks and say goodbye to Clover, she popped a waffle in the toaster, and bolted outside.
Dumping feed into the feed buckets, she saw her mom taking some of the calves outside on leads. "Thanks for waking me up on time, Mom." Ray said sarcastically. Her mom paled and looked absolutely appalled with herself. "Oh honey, I'm so sorry! The Walkers came over for pancakes and tea--"
"I don't wanna hear it, mom." Ray retorted before turning on her heel and walking over to Clover's stall. As always, Clover's nose turned up and her ears flicked happily as soon as she saw Ray, but her eyes were sad, as if she knew Ray was here to say goodbye. "Hey girl." Ray murmured, stroking the space between her ears, and resting her chin on Clover's nose. A few tears leaked out of Ray's shining eyes and fell on Clover's muzzle. She mooed softly, and Ray stroked her chin and looked in her eyes. "Goodbye girl." she murmured, before kissing her nose and running back to the house. She grabbed her waffle, which her mom had buttered out of remorse, hopped on her silver mountain bike, and pedaled as fast as she could towards town.

Ray stumbled into the lab, red-faced with exhaution, slightly sweaty, and out of breath. She knocked over a Pokéball onto the floor as she ran up to Professor Elm. "So sorry I'm late" she said breathlessly, shaking her hair slightly. "Mom forgot to wake me up, and I had to feed the Miltanks, and-- oh!" she exclaimed as a small, blue and white Pokémon had grabbed onto her leg and was smiling. It was a Pokémon, with a happy expression spread across its face. "Why hello there," Ray said, picking up the small creature in her arms. "What are you?" she asked, turning towards Professor Elm.
