"Who wrote these?" Lucian murmured. It was strange... very strange. But then he realized it probably wasn't.

Of course, there would be something written here to drive them all insane. Nothing entertaining. Nothing worth reading that would make them want to stay.

The goal was to make them all want to leave this place, by any means necessary...

Even killing someone else. And then that was when Lucian heard a scream, and went running.

"Everything okay?" he asked, alarmed. It turned out no one had died. Thank goodness. What was this screaming about?

Oh! These people were... introducing themselves to each other. Lucian silently slinked away.

Didn't mean to interrupt...

Sawyer Laurens's POV

"Okay! I'm Sawyer Laurens, I'm the Ultimate Loremaster, and I once wound up in the hospital from eating every pill out of the medicine cabinet just to see what would happen! Goshhhh, that hurt so much," they grumbled. "I thought it would taste like candy!! And well, honestly, I'd love to eat anything! I wonder what they have here?" they gasped.

He seemed nervous around them, and not all that eager. "Aren't you curious what they have? Oh! Right, and what's your name?"

"Oh, yeah! Eating! Definitely! Energy consumption is a good idea! Well, not in terms of global warming." They laughed nervously. "I only had a smoothie for breakfast today because I was in such a rush! I mean... wait. Why am I hungry again?" They blinked. "Never mind, to the cafeteria!"

Oh. Right. Following him. Awesome!

"Oh, uhhh, sorry about that! I didn't mean to! I was just curious and then I woulda startled you two if I revealed myself! So I had to stay put. No malicious intent there, though, I pinkie-swear it!" they promised, with a genuine-looking smile.

They noticed the other person leaving. Huh. Investigated a lot! What was their talent again?

I already forgot.

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian couldn't help but smile at their returning his gesture. He got back to investigating the books. Were they ALL like this? This was... disturbing. Maybe it was intended to psychologically disturb students into... murder, or suicide.

I know that could definitely prove effective...

He noticed me?! Aw, dang it. They stepped out from behind the corner. "Oh, hiii! I was just, heading to my dorm, and I happened to hear you two talking. Um! No negative intent here, I promise. I was just curious. H-Hey!" Wow. This is awkward. The guy who glared at me earlier! Just saw me watching him! Nice! "How are you on this fine... whatever-day-it-is, morning? Afternoon? Evening? What time even is it?" They fidgeted in confusion.

Sawyer raised their eyebrows. Why would someone look at somebody when they could just approach them and talk to them!? Or... wait. Weren't they just looking at these people just now? They blinked. That guy who glared at them earlier seemed rather nervous. How come? This other one seemed... mysterious, Sawyer was curious about them!

Were they secretly the Grim Reaper? Or someone working for the FBI?

Lucian searched the bookshelf, wondering what books might be here. Hopefully, it wouldn't be filled with a bunch of horror novels about people being mass-murdered. The bear seemed to have that sense of humor. He quickly flipped through the pages of one.

Oh. The exact book I was trying to avoid.

He looked at the covers of a few others, which seemed to convey similar stories... what the heck?

Sawyer tilted their head, peeking about from the corner. Eh? What was this? Oh, it was that guy, who had glared at them earlier. Having a conversation with someone they didn't quite recognize. What were they talking about?

It seemed they had just been conversing. But they thought they heard something about... stalking? Creepy? Cliques? Wow, this was interesting!

Lucian looked about the place, wondering where the library was. He liked reading, and maybe there was something of use in the library? The question was... where was the library? He wandered the hallways, perplexed.

"Well, I mean... Probably! But-- maybe they didn't mean it like that- and if they did, don't listen to them!" They blinked. Who she's... Dorming with?

"No, haha, I have no idea! Do you have any idea? Wait, never mind, you asked it, ummm- maybe somebody else knows?" Sawyer paced back and forth. This was a difficult issue! What do?!

They momentarily growled like a dog in Mei's direction.

[Lucian Arbred's POV]
"Oh, um... Of course." He watched him go, and couldn't help but notice his shifting expressions as he spoke. Akari definitely seemed to have difficulty with interactions and conversation. And possibly a low opinion of himself, given his speech and appearance.

He breathed out with a great effort. He seemed like he might have a lot of issues. A lot of people here might, for all he knew. He might as well look around too...

Carefully. He was a smaller person here, and definitely could be a murder target. The thought was unthinkable, of course, but sadly true.

"Oh! Okay!" They wondered what it might be. Maybe it was some sort of treasure, or a family heirloom? "No problem!"

They smiled the best they could at her. "Um, they're referencing a character! Like, the villain Batman is constantly trying to fend off! He's usually the antagonist. There's this whole "we live in a society" mentality he has! I think it may have been intended as an insult though." They stiffened. "Which is kinda rude!"

As he'd suspected, this person had very low self-esteem. Engineer, huh? That might be a really helpful talent to have here. He nodded at him. "Ultimate Engineer? It's nice to have you."

It seemed that he might not even deem himself worthy of being an Ultimate. Lucian noted he seemed very uncomfortable around him. Was it his talent? Was that it? Maybe he should have kept his mouth shut. It's what he seemed to do best... Most of the time...

"Well..." He paused and thought about it. "Annoying is subjective." But when he looked at this person, he wasn't so sure that they were fine. It didn't seem like they were opening up though...
"Lucian Arbred. Ultimate Therapist," he stated, blinking rapidly. It's a bit less awkward when I'm not a stranger.

"Oh! I see! Well, it was just uhh, a simile, you know those? And sure!"

They came along with her. "Whoa. Does it really matter whose are whose? Couldn't we pick our own?" they asked. "Seems stiff and boring to be assigned to specific ones, if you ask me!!"

Sawyer sped to a stop. Wait... Why did everyone seem so... Sad?
They bounced over to Kaoru. "Hey, you okay? What's with that face?" they asked. "You look like someone just asked you to kill your own brother!"
Okay. Okay, no. Backtrack. Maybe that was the wrong thing to say.
"I could... Go check out the dorms with you! If you'd like!'

Lucian sighed. I wonder how much food we have available... Maybe this was all a crazy dream. Maybe he'd wake up tomorrow. And if not... What to do?

"Aww, the bear thingy is gone! Well, I guess I'll explore this place!" Sawyer beamed. "Hopefully it's got a lot of fun things in it! I wonder if this is really a school?"

But immediately, Sawyer got distracted, upon getting the idea to Naruto-run in a circle in the room.

Lucian stared at Sawyer with his eyebrows raised, wondering what the heck they were doing. What now? What should he do about this situation?

He noticed someone in particular looked pretty shaken up, and slowly walked in Akari's direction. "Is everything okay?" he asked, at a slight distance.

Sawyer realized something odd. They still felt wobbly. And... Hungry? "Huh! As far as I know, it's not normal to feel hungry in your dreams." They turned to Monokuma. "Do we have to kill? I don't really want money, I'm just kind of hungry. And bored! When do we get to the interesting stuff?!" They swung their hands back and forth.

Then they blinked. "Three mortgages? 14 dead kids? A wife who won't leave you be?! Oh my gosh, tell me, I gotta know the backstory for this!"
[Lucian Arbred's POV]
He had no idea what this "plot" meant, and didn't care to know. Surely there was a way to escape the school. Surely the people who put them here couldn't have been that thorough... If this was real, right?

"Okay then," he murmured. He scanned the room. Just had to keep his calm. Everything would be okay.

Sawyer looked disappointed at Monokuma, and then noticed Kubo's glare. They gave him a pleading look that said 'What Did I Do?' and wondered why this figment of their imagination disliked them so much. "Ooh, this is an interesting dream! I wonder how it'll end! But um, quick question, who is Megami?" they asked.

Lucian facepalmed as Sawyer wasn't supposed to ask that. And then he got back in character.
"Or... We could all live here?" he offered. But on the inside, he knew... These people barely knew each other. There was definitely a chance they could kill each other. He wanted to avoid it, but it was the bitter reality he knew.

Lucian couldn't help but agree with Akari, in a way. The swarms of voices were almost as overwhelming as the news at hand...

Death was coming to them all, as surely as Christmas during winter.

Sawyer frowned over at Akari. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you!" Although, it was strange that someone could be upset by them. They were all just imaginary, right?

Wait... Were these real people?

"Really?! Great!! Where are the training rooms? I'm not that physically fit but..." They trailed off.
"Wait, this is my imagination. Or uh, a dream... So, why am I caring about my physical fitness? That doesn't matter, anything is possible," they muttered to themselves. They turned to look at the bear. "Can I tap your nose again? Pleaseeee?"

"What do you mean?" Lucian was confused. What kind of school would... Kill its students? What did this mean? Was he dreaming about the school he was going to enter? SOME dream!
Lucian couldn't help but appreciate that girl's comment. Drama class. He almost laughed. It was hard to take this... Bear thing seriously.

Sawyer gasped out loud, eyes widening, hands clapped over their mouth. "Oh my gosh... Wait, you mean--" They stood up. "WE'RE GETTING TRAINED FOR THE HUNGER GAMES?! THIS IS SO FRICKING COOL! I've always wondered what those books were like in real life!"

"Ooh, what a fun accent! I like them. I like that one." Sawyer laughed. "It's odd! It almost sounds like a very outdated way of speaking!" They adjusted their glasses. "Maybe they're a fan of it of some kind.. I'll have to ask. Ouch, that was some nice acting though!"

Lucian studied the bear. Considering it's loud and rude behavior, whatever this thing was, he got the feeling it wasn't safe to approach. He wasn't so sure that others should be messing with it... If this was all real.
