"Naw- it'll be fine, Niwa-face. I'll be late, with style! Fashionably late~" They waggled their eyebrows. Keiki snorted. She felt so hollow, so broken, so alone. Silently witnessing the murders, executions, each in their own beautiful yet horrible way. Her face, eyes wet with sorrow, face puffy and red from crying, and crying and crying. So much crying. Chuku'd locked herself in the outhouse, buried under a mound of tissues, wet from her tears. Her whole body heaved as she sobbed silently. Her knuckles were white, clutching her scarf like a lifeline. The threads were coming loose, poking her hands. Chuku clenched her teeth with such force she almost cracked them. It hurt to breathe, her throat was constricted, she couldn't swallow. Chuku whimpered. She couldn't breathe now. Her eyes, so full of tears. Blind. Her breathing came quicker and quicker, the pounding of her heart, so so loud. Could anyone hear the beating of her heart? Hear as it thumps in her chest, louder and louder. Quicker and quicker. Her hands flew to her temples, pinching the skin. Blood dripped from her mouth. The insides of her mouth were a mangled mess of flesh and blood. She had chewed them, unknowingly. Buzzing filled her ears, shrill and loud. Like her screams. Loud, guttural screams, shredding her vocal cords, pleading. Please. No one will know. No one will care. No one will realise. I'm all alone. That's what I've always been. Alone, and a liar. Oh god, I'm a liar. I've lied about everything. I deserve this, don't I? My own personal punishment for lying about my identity. I hope someone'll figure the truth out soon, I'd hate to have to be the one to confess. Stupid scarf. Stupid...me- Stupid everything. I hate this. I hate all of this. I hate you. I hate you. Keiki kept a firm hand on their satchel at all times, Chuku noticed. She was slightly curious as to what was in the satchel, but never asked. On a few occasions, she saw a glint of metal, and a the rattle of a bottle. The clink of glass. What on earth was in there? [Read more] |
