Light filtered through the window of a small room. The walls of the room were blank and bare with the color white reflecting the light harshly in the room making it seem bright. Snow groaned and pulled the thin sheets he used to keep himself warm at night over his face to block out the sun. He gave up and sat up as the light shone through the sheets. He yawned. Pichu was still inside the black pokeball, he had been in there for a few months. Snow had been afraid to let the small pokemon out. “Maybe I should let him out.” He said quietly and looked around. He grabbed the pokeball and called Pichu out.

The small yellow pokemon fell out of the pokeball and landed on his face. At first, Snow thought he had hurt the pokemon. Inching closer and closer to the small pokemon, Snow held his hand out and gently poked the Pichu’s shoulder. “Pichu! CHU!” Pichu yelled angrily and growled at Snow. He jumped to his feet and gave Snow a cold glare. The once fearful brown gaze was now replaced with a cold and foreboding look. The pokemon looked as if he had no emotion when he slowly went for Snow.

“No! Stop please. I don’t want to hur-” Snow was cut off as he slipped on the pokeball. He heard a small, crack, and fell to the ground. Just before the Pichu used a volt tackle, Snow noticed that the small red mark on the top of the ball had a red computer chip. The chip had broken and Pichu fell to the ground. “Oh no!” Snow squeaked in shock and ran over to his pokemon. He looked around the room in shock, and was grateful that his dad had left him alone, again, for some mission. He cautiously picked the Pichu up.

“P-Pi-Pichu.” Pichu stuttered out and slowly regained consciousness. He looked at Snow in shock and gave off a fearful, “Chu, Pichu!” Snow watched as the Pichu shivered and tried to break free of his grasp. “P-Pichu.”

“No it’s okay. Calm down.” Snow whispered softly and held the Pichu close. “I don’t wanna scare or hurt you. I’m not gonna.” He said quietly.

Pichu seemed to relax, but only slightly. He looked at Snow as if he were measuring an opponent up. Snow blinked and gently let go of the small pokemon. He crouched down to Pichu’s level, and the electric mouse walked over to Snow cautiously. “Pi?”

“Promise. I’m here, I don’t want to hurt you. After all.” Snow said gently and quietly. He looked around as if he were making sure he wasn’t heard. “Pokemon and humans should be friends right?” He whispered quietly. Pichu blinked, as if in shock. He then hesitantly nodded and jumped into Snow’s arms as if he were afraid.

Snow blinked and held the Pichu close. He knew he broke something on the pokeball, as it seemed that Pichu wasn’t as hostile as he originally was. Whatever that pokeball did to Pichu, he wasn’t going to fix it. “It’s okay Pichu.” Snow whispered quietly and looked thoughtful. “Oh I know! Let’s get some food. Breakfast always makes me happy!” Snow said happily and walked out of the bedroom with Pichu in his arms.

The duo walked into the small kitchen. Snow opened the fridge and looked around. There wasn’t much inside the fridge, just some fresh water, and a jar of oran berry jelly. “Let’s see…” Snow said thoughtfully and gently placed Pichu on the counter. He grabbed the jelly and closed the fridge before grabbing a chair and pushing it to the counter. He climbed on top of the chair and went onto the counter where he opened a cabinet and grabbed a loaf of bread and jar of peanut butter. “We have peanut butter, oran berry jelly, and bread. Wanna sandwich?” Snow asked kindly and looked over to his new friend.

“Pic?” Pichu said in a questioning manner. He looked at the bread for a moment. Snow raised an eyebrow as Pichu sniffed at the loaf of bread.

“What’s wrong? Have you ever had rye bread before?” Snow asked curiously.

“Pi.” Pichu said bluntly, his tone gave the answer away as if the pokemon had said it loud and clear. Confusion filled the pokemon’s gaze as he sniffed at the piece of bread that Snow had pulled from the loaf.

“Uh, here try it.” Snow said gently and tore off a bit of the bread from the slice. He handed it to Pichu, who took a cautious bite. The pokemon squeaked in a gleeful manner and ate the bread. “Do you like it?” Snow asked in a sheepish manner. Pichu nodded and smiled happily as he finished the bit of bread.

“Chu!” Pichu said gleefully. He finished the bit of bread and took what Snow had in his hand causing the boy to laugh in amusement.

“You like it!” Snow said cheerfully. Pichu nodded and smiled at Snow, the small pokemon then jumped onto Snow’s head. Snow giggled in amusement and smiled at Pichu, who returned the smile cheerfully. “Hm. You know Pichu, I wanna give you a nickname. After all you’re my friend. What should I call you?” He said gently.

“Pi!” Pichu said cheerfully and Snow shook his head. Pichu tilted his head to the side and blinked before sighing. “Chu? Pichu?” Pichu said quietly.

Snow sighed and tapped his chin. He then grabbed an old collar, it was tattered and burnt most likely from a fire pokemon fighting it. Snow looked at it and grabbed a permanent marker. He crossed out the old name, which was Sam, and wrote down how he thought ‘Rye’ was spelt. “R-a-i...Rai! I’m gonna call you Rai.” Snow said kindly and showed the collar to Pichu. “What do you think about that?” He asked kindly.

Pichu sniffed the collar for a moment and squeaked cheerfully. “Pichu chu!” Pichu said happily and allowed Snow to put the collar on his neck. It was a black collar with a small golden pattern on the middle part. The charm where the name tag was looked like a wave, Snow smiled and looked at the collar before petting Rai on the head.

“We’re gonna be the bestest friends in the world.” Snow said happily and hugged Pichu. Pichu smiled and returned the hug. Snow soon broke the hug and made himself breakfast. The two then went into the living room to watch TV together. For the first time in his life, Snow had a real friend.

	Tiger smiled and nodded. He grabbed Yuki and Cotton's pokeballs and let the two pokemon out. Yuki yawned and looked around the clearing while Cotton smiled at JJ. "These are Yuki, my Umbreon, and Cotton, my Ampharos. They've been on my team for a long time. Cotton being the first pokemon I caught." [Read more]

	Tiger smiled at JJ. "You're pretty smart." He said softly and nodded. "Yeah, Mir's pretty strong. We all are. I mean, even if we're knocked down. We're never out, we've got a second wind that helps us all get back up." He said softly. "We'll find Mira in no time at all, we just have to hold onto hope." He said gently. Tiger blinked and froze, he guessed who Ocean was as he had heard what Cyndaquil and JJ were talking about earlier. He looked away and attempted to keep the concern and fear out of his gaze and tone. "Y-yeah. Mir, Mir will be alright." He said quietly and shook his head clear as he remembered the dream from the night before. He looked up and smiled, "we will find her and her pokemon soon, and she'll be alright." He said reassuringly and smiled at JJ.

	Snow nodded and glanced at Kimberly for a moment. "I could ask Tiger later if you want me to." He whispered quietly. Lion followed the group in a quiet manner. Snow smiled at Kimberly and continued towards the forest. "Anyway, we should get to the forest." He said quietly. "What's up?" He asked Kimberly when he noticed the curiosity in her gaze.

Lion nodded in response to Faye and looked at the ground in silence.

"Both forests are pretty nice." Tiger said to JJ with a smile. "Cyndaquil and I actually met in Ripple Forest. Heck, that's where I met Lugia, Tally, Kit, and most of the pokemon I call family." He said gently. Cyndaquil smiled at Tiger for a moment and nodded, he glanced at JJ.

Tiger snorted in a good natured manner and smiled at JJ. "You should really see Ripple Forest then." He said kindly as he overheard JJ. "It's lush and lively with tall trees that grow strong and tall. Pokémon of all sorts of natures and types live there, and it's blocked off from most trainers." He explained kindly.

Cyndaquil glanced at Tiger and blinked before glancing at JJ. "Berry Forest is named that way for all the berries that grow there. Though, it is an interesting name for a forest. Ripple Forest is nicer, and bigger, but it's easier for me to navigate..."

Cyndaquil nodded and glanced at JJ. "Yep! If we find Mira then we might be able to help not only Kanto, but Jo-." Cyndaquil was cut off as Tiger glanced at Cyndaquil.

"Cyndaquil. Johto isn't something the others need to worry about now. We need to find Mira, and the legends so Lugia and the Johto legends can return to Johto." Tiger whispered quickly. He was speaking pokemon unknowingly as the concern for Johto still bothered him. He glanced at JJ for a moment and blinked.

"Johto's legends are trying to help Kanto out and keep it from falling, but they're overextending themselves." Cyndaquil explained quickly not really wanting to talk about Johto anymore. "But yeah, if we find Mira then we'll find Lugia. Berry Forest is the forest not too far from here." He explained kindly and nodded to the forest.

Snow nodded and smiled at Kimberly. He gently grabbed her hand. "Alright." He said quietly.

Lion nodded and glanced at Faye. "Sorry..." He said in embarrassment.

Cyndaquil chuckled in amusement and smiled. "Ah yes, Mira's threats to feed the twins to Lugia. I'm sure Lugia would get a good laugh out of that. Red on the other hand...well. I'd rather not run into him again until Tiger decides to challenge him to a rematch." He said gently. "Though, I'm sure Tiger would be willing to keep threatening Jamie and Robert with feeding them to Lugia since he and Lugia are close...too bad the Silver Wing went missing when Mira disappeared. Though Tiger did say Mira might have it." He said thoughtfully.
