Taking the phone back, he thanked him again for attending to it. He took one of the trays and went around the room distributing the baked goods - offering each a smile and a nod. He took a headcount of everyone and made a mental note to remember each new face. And later, the name associated to them.

'If you need anything else, don't be afraid to ask.'

After having done his deed, he went back to Alaparos' side - anywhere else would feel like he was intruding. Was it this hard to meet new people? He stood up straight, adjusted his hair a bit and pulled his sleeves back down.

So the girl with the camera was Soleil. 'How bright', he thought. He nodded in agreement at her ending sentence, turning towards the next person in the circle.

He turned toward Venture, taking a moment to recall their face before finally recognising them. He did not see them around much last year, partly his fault for hardly noticing his classmates too. He took notice of their anxious state, nodding as he smiles gently.

'Ah yeah Venture, I remember you too. It's been a while.'

His year mate looked a bit different from what he remembered, but he couldn't place the difference much with his hazy memory of the past year. He nods as he tries to take note of his belongings which he'd earlier scattered in a rush. Coat was still up, luggage by the door, nothing moved. A sigh of relief escaped from his lungs, happy that no other incidents would stir up the already chaotic atmosphere. His thoughts escaped his mind when he heard one of the girls speak, it was the junior who had saved the day from the tyranny of the tarantula.

'Well while I do get wanting to take the picture, you could have announced you were there you know? You gave us a fright! But what's done is done, let's go have some treats.'

Meka chuckled softly, amused at how his junior thought of such an adorable idea. He wanted to pat her on the head but held back, cringing at the thought inside. On hearing the door creak open, he looked up to see Alaparos come in. He nodded and signalled the other with an "OK" sign as a reply to his question, reassuring the other that everything had been settled. He walked over to the other, noticing his phone on his lap.

'Oh thanks! Sorry I left you there. We were just thinking of going to the kitchen.'

'Okay, that's good.'

Meka smiled softly, relieved as he got up slowly from the squat he was in. He walked over to the window and closed it shut to make sure no more tarantulas spawned to terrorize the lives of his juniors. What if it was someone's pet? Though that was unlikely since who would be that careless to let it go from sight? He turned back towards his juniors, talking in an apologetic manner.

'I'm sorry your first day started with this chaos. Even I don't know where that came from, and I've been here for a while.'

Clearing his throat, he tried to muster up the courage to be a generous senior. If Alaparos was an excellent homemaker, then he'd be the brilliant host!

'Since that whole debacles over..how about we go have something to eat in the kitchen? I'm sure you'll each find something you'll like.'

Meka quickly turned around, his phone still in his hands. He presumed the people in front of him were juniors, since he'd never met them before.

'Hey, even I asked for permission before taking a pictu-'

A shiver ran up his spine as he heard a blood curdling scream resonating in the hallway. Leaving his phone on the counter, he quickly ran back to the house - immediately getting into action on reflex. He looked at the two girls in front of him, sighing in relief as he watched the other junior pick the tarantula. Walking over to the couch, he looked at the one who was screaming and tried to comfort her.

'Are you alright? See, the thing is gone now. How's your throat?'

'I'm getting sentimental hah! The year might just go by like that, I don't want to leave with regrets.'

Reaching into his pocket, he took his phone out and started taking pictures of the, now, messy counter and finally turned toward Alaparos. He started taking a few pictures, checking each one till he's satisfied. The warm light bounced against Alaparos' blonde hair, forming a sort of golden aura around him. It made for a beautiful picture and the lighting favoured Alaparos too. He proudly showed the other the photos he'd taken.

'Ah this one is nice, like a portrait!'

Feeling satisfied, he put his phone away and looked over at the dough being made.
