With the help of Larry, Kendall had now made his way back downstairs. "Barron!" he cooed singsongy as he scanned the bartop for the bartender. "I'm sorry for stealing this." He placed the bottle on the counter near one of the seats for barcomers to sit and without waiting for a response, more so to avoid a scolding from the bartender, he turned back to Larry with a smile.

"I think I can get myself up okay. I'm gonna turn in for the night but, uh..." his words started trailing off a bit as he gave a soft smile. "Thank you. For everything tonight, Larry. I don't know if you're a nightowl or not, but I would get some rest if I were you too." After awkwardly saying some sort of form of "Goodnight" to the other male, he carefully ascended the staircase while holding onto the railing, careful to take one step at a time.

He approached his room and stood in front of the door, sighing while holding his key and staring blankly at the door for a few moments. "Yeah, no..." he muttered to himself, opening his palm and pushing it forward slightly. This motion triggered the male's telekinesis to forcefully swing the door open, knocking off a bit of the door frame with it in the process. Once inside, Kendall closed the door though found it wouldn't stay shut and the weight of it would prevent it from being forced to stay shut by anything he could think of in the room. He'd lost his sense to care about the dilemma, figuring his mother would scold him about it tomorrow and call someone in to repair it. "Whatever..." he mumbled at the thought of it, already lying in bed with the lights off as he drifted off to sleep.
[timeskip to everyone about to leave for their first attack on the first assassin]

"I don't know if anyone else brought their cars or not, but y'all are welcome to drive mine..." Kendall offered, not feeling the best to operate a vehicle with a hefty hangover. His hair had been loosely tied back, the shorter strands on his left side of it had slipped out of it. He'd be impressed with himself for being able to slip into his skinny jeans had he not fallen asleep in them the night before. He'd replaced his typical t-shirt and flannel with one of Koda's old graphic t-shirts that was a bit baggy on him considering the elder brother had always been a size or two bigger than him to begin with. And sunglasses. How else would everyone know he had a hangover and not to bother him without wearing a pair of sunglasses?

Kayleigh sighed at Kendall's remark, having returned to the hideout to get the lot of "heroes" or whatever they were awake and ready to prepare the ambush. "I've sent the assassin's location to each of your cellphones so navigating there shouldn't be a problem." she announced, looking around to see if anyone had been missing from the group. "That thing's gonna kill you." she whispered sharply to her son as he took a quick hit from a disposable vape. "Not if this assassin kills me first." he replied blankly, walking away from her and towards his car.
---------
"It seems my baby brother has finally decided to come around here, but it's not for the reason I'd hoped he come for." Koda sighed. "I'll stick around to get you out of trouble, but don't expect me to do any of the dirty work. They're coming for you."

"As if I would ever let a bunch of misfit magic users get the upper hand on me. I don't know if I should be offended or not." Valerie barked, running her hand along the length of her ponytail before grabbing the end of it and flicking it behind her back. "When they come, I'll be ready for them." Koda smirked at Valerie's confidence, chuckling somewhat quietly before stepping out of the room. Once Koda had left the room, Valerie rolled her eyes to prevent him from seeing her do so.

Kendall's thoughts circled about how stupid and embarrassed he was, mostly blaming it on the alcohol but couldn't necessarily convince himself he wasn't the best at controlling his emotions while he was sober either. He barely noticed one of the other members of the group coming to retrieve his key from the box before retreating into their assigned room. But still-- how embarrassing. He was brought of his trance by the feeling of Larry's hand being placed on his shoulder and slight pressure coming from the squeeze and soon found himself forcing another half-assed smile at the other male's reassurance.

At mentioning how Koda had been screwing up the world, he let out a soft sigh and turned his attention away from Larry for a brief moment before being met with another squeeze. Kendall had genuinely smiled a bit at what was said, his eyes trailing down to the ground in an attempt to hide it some. He'd sighed again, his eyes shifting back up to make eye contact with the other male and he'd almost instinctively laid his hand on top of the one placed on his shoulder, starting with a sincere "Thank you, Larry."

"Honestly? I don't want to come as like-- the de facto leader of the group or whatever. All of us have different strengths and weaknesses and I think this is definitely more of a team-effort than a 'one determines all' course of action." He paused for a few seconds, sighing in the process as he pulled his hand off Larry's. "Even if I can't bring him back or whatever, I just want to know that I at least tried everything I could, y'know?" he forced another smile and chuckled nervously, though the smile quickly faded as he pondered at the idea that he might have to kill his own brother.

He sighed once again, a track record for the male. "I think I'm gonna give this back to Barron, I definitely do not need anymore." he told Larry as he struggled stand up, staggering back some once he was upright. "I do I have one more favor to ask from you. Would you mind helping me downstairs and then back up?" he requested. "I'd probably need help into my room too to be honest with you. I'm not the greatest when it comes to keys, especially when you've had as much to drink as I have and you can just push the door open with your power..." Before waiting for an answer, he'd already began making his way slowly and carefully towards the staircase.

Kendall chuckled some as he watched Larry's stance had become more relaxed. He noticed the other male had smiled back at him before assuring him that he could vent to him if he really wanted to before somewhat awkwardly trailing off. Before having a chance to say anything, he noticed Larry's attention being taken away by the other drunk retrieving his room key having not noticed him approach prior. He was honestly a bit annoyed at the fact of how gleeful the male was acting despite complaining about having to be here just moments ago, watching him retreat into his assigned room.

"And hey," he heard from Larry, turning his attention away from someone who he'd already developed some sort of disliking towards back to the male, "if I get annoyed, you can always return the favor, right?" The question coming from him had made him smile with a bit more enthusiasm than his previous attempt. "I would be more than happy to, of course."

He looked down again, noticing there had only been a few keys left and spotted "Kendy" with a heart on the tag and the room number 201, groaning as he read the name his mother had written. "I guess I'll start with this," he started, pausing to hold up his key for Larry to view, "she still treats me like I'm her little helpless four year old. Even back then, I had my powers and could take care of myself if I needed to. A-And she expects so much out of me and to be better than everyone else just because I'm her son and Koda is my brother. Even before this whole mess she always expected nothing less than perfect from me and it's so hard to get through to her and tell her that I am anything but that. I can't always do everything with a 'hundred percent mommy satisfactory guarantee' a-a-and..." he rambled, the end of his sentence trailing off in a stutter as his rage and sadness had built up inside.

He hadn't noticed until he felt a teardrop stroll down his cheek that he had began lightly crying. "I just feel like I'm not good enough. I can't meet my mother's expectations and I sure as hell well never be as good as Koda." he revealed, his voice trembling a bit. "This is embarrassing, I'm sorry to spring this on you..." He took a moment to collect himself, shutting his eyes as he took a few deep breaths. It's not like anyone wants to see a crying, drunk man anyways. "I just feel like if I can get my brother back on our side and stop this whole thing that maybe for once she'll see that I'm not just Koda's little brother anymore and that if I bring him back we can be a family again..."

Kendall had been rummaging through the keys in the box his mother mentioned to find his. Luckily, there weren't too many different people in the group so finding his was rather easy. A bit tipsy, the male became startled after noticing someone else had followed him upstairs to retrieve their key, though after thinking about it the task was what everyone was assigned to do. He noticed he'd spilled a bit of the Bacardi from the bottle onto his shirt, verbally swearing at the fact that he had wasted some of the precious alcohol.

He suddenly realized the other person there was speaking, offering himself as someone for Kendall to vent to. That's exactly what the male needed at the moment more than anything. He watched the other male's eyes shift from him down to the box with the keys in them, his own eyes following. "Wh-" the male muttered, somewhat taken back as the male offered a hand out to him as he introduced himself as Larry. 'I didn't hear that name earlier...?' he thought to himself. Seconds later, Larry had explained that it was easier to pronounce "for people around here", assuming he meant Americans and thus Kendall.

He extended his own arm, the one not gripping the bottle of Bacardi as if it were stolen treasure, to return the handshake. He opened his mouth to speak, though stopped himself as his eyes trailed one of the other people who simply took their key and went on to find their room. "I'm... Kendall. Nice to meet you." he greeted, the corners of his mouth tucking themselves upwards in a mediocre half smile. "Uh... I probably would enjoy venting to someone, but I don't-- y'know... wanna be that guy that just goes on about their problems." he explained, hoping the Larry fellow would ensure him that it was okay to vent to him to calm his anxiety some. His heart was racing and he soon realized he hadn't let go of his grip from the handshake, trying to slyly retrieve his hand to prevent the awkwardness from intensifying, only making himself more anxious as a result.

Upon hearing Hyde's voice again, Kendall immediately snarled some. In order to prevent himself from saying anything or having an outburst of telekinetic or electrokinetic rage, he simply ran his fingers through his hair from roots, a bit of palm sweat smearing onto his forehead in the process. 'For the love of God, please sit down and shut the hell up, dude... No one cares. No one cares. No one cares.' he thought, mentally repeating those three words as he tried to calm himself down.

Kendall very rapidly imagined the several different methods he could have used to magically murder the drunk and out of all of them, electrocuting him seemed the most pleasing; but that would make him just like his brother in the sense of using violence, magical or otherwise, with permanent solutions for a temporary problem. He just needed to suck it up, bite his tongue and work with the dude until the whole "saving the world" thing was out of the way, then he didn't ever have to see him again.

Kayleigh too had grown quite visibly annoyed at the fact, though understood why he wouldn't want to work together. She also had to take into account his intoxication. Without missing a beat, she forced a quick laugh. "Once again," she started, her tone much more menacing and noticeably deeper, "if you don't want to be here, there's the door." By now she had stepped up a bit closer to Hyde, naturally looking up to him due to a height difference. She cleared her throat and turned away from Hyde. "There's been reports of an assassin lounging around in a city about 50 miles from here. For those of you who decide to stay, tomorrow morning's task will be reprimanding and only killing them if absolutely necessary. We could use them for information about Koda's hideout and his plan to stop the lot of you. You each have been assigned your own living spacing, your names are on the keys with their respective room numbers in a box on the second floor." she informed, turning back to Barron. "This one gets no more drinks tonight." she ordered. Without waiting for a response, she exited the hideout from the main entrance.

Upon his mother's departure from the group, Kendall exhaled and swore under his breath. "I'd thought she'd never leave." he mumbled, rising from his seat. This is just perfect. You've got the people who don't want to be here, the people who doubt themselves, and the people who are supposed to work with other people but don't like working with other people. What could possibly go wrong? "Good to hear that someone else isn't planning on running around like a chicken without its head while we've all been gathered together." he commented to Lauri as he passed the other male on his way to the bar. "I'll take that whole bottle, actually." he requested from Barron, though reached over the counter to grab the Bacardi he'd been served minutes earlier. While taking a shot straight from the bottle, the male began his tread up the staircase to the second floor to find the box with the room keys his mother mentioned before leaving.

Kayleigh huffed in annoyance at the group's overwhelming amount of complaints and self-doubting. She opened her mouth to speak, though stopped herself once she heard Lauri speaking up and asking why they were here. This also caught Kendall's attention, prompting him to raise his head some to watch Lauri as he spoke and turn to listen to the response.

"Can we all think about this for a second?" Kendall piped up, exhaling in annoyance afterwards. "Whether you'd like to admit it or not, everyone here received an invitation and you're here for a reason." he barked, standing up afterwards. "Be it whether you can only cast shields with one hand or don't like anyone or don't think you belong here," he repeated, turning his attention to each person who had made their respective remark, "If we work together, we can better not just ourselves, but the entire world. Like-- Ouioui-Knife-loving girl, for example, can make an attacker's knife draw into one of Barron's shields which would disarm them while someone else attacks them."

Telling that Kendall was rather frustrated at the moment and that Lauri had also expressed some sort of distaste towards everyone's negative attitude, she put two of her fingers from each hand into her mouth and whistled to get everyone's attention geared back towards her. "Thank you, Lauri and Kendall, but starting more arguments at the moment isn't the best method here." She took seat and brushed her pants down to free them of any wrinkles created in the process. "I won't hold you hostage here; if you don't want to be here, there's the door. But, like I said, I believe the collective magic within this group is exactly what's needed to revert Koda's darkness."

Kayleigh chuckled some at the not-completely-sobered Hyde and his comment, leaning her head to the side a bit and her hair falling in the same direction with the motion. "Not now, but I appreciate the enthusiasm." she answered, smiling afterwards. She noticed the arrival of another individual who she could make out to be Camille, intrigued as she magically called a knife to herself and broke out into French with an accompanied French accent with her English.

At the sight of the blade seemingly being magically whisked away into the hands of Camille, Kendall rose from his seat with his fists raised as he assumed she would attack the group of people in the den before lowering his guard once she approached the bar in a different manner. His eyes didn't trail off of the woman though, feeling somewhat uneasy about her for some reason. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he didn't get a positive sense from her.

Kayleigh turned at the sound of a "Yes Ma'am?" coming from Geo and she once again smiled, ignoring the male otherwise. After hearing Lauri's voice and an apology, she turned her attention towards him. "Better later than never, no?" she winked, stepping towards the center of the room considering she'd already gained most of their attention. She cleared her throat some to make sure everyone would turn towards her as she spoke, sighing afterwards.

"I'm sure everyone's aware that the world has turned to darkness," she started, though was interrupted by Kendall as he commented "Unless you've been living under a rock." prompting the male's mother to glare at him. "Luckily, the collective power of the assassins still allow some sunlight in, though only for three hours a day; we may as well be living in Alaska. Most of the powerful leaders have either been killed, held hostage or under control by them as well. You should have noticed an increase of chaos; raiding, looting, violence, robbery, brutality, murder even."

She paused to take a few steps and relieve her feet of some soreness from her heels. "This group is lead by my eldest son and he won't be easy to overpower. I'm sure he's been able to tell some sort of increase in good magic in the few of you and will stop at nothing to kill each and every one of you to prevent the world from being reverted, even his own brother." At the sound of Kayleigh mentioning Koda would kill him, Kendall lowered his head, saddened at the fact that he couldn't deny.

"This is why we can't waltz into battle with any one of the assassins without some sort of gameplan. Individually, every one of you is powerful, but when you all work together, you have the potential to be an unstoppable force of good; exactly what the Earth needs right now." Kayleigh explained. She looked back at Kendall, whose head had still been lowered in sorrow.

"Twenty-three or not, you're still my baby boy." she teased, pinching his cheek though immediately had her hand swatted away by Kendall, causing her to smile some finding some enjoyment in this. "Oh my God..." Kendall mumbled, noticing how Hyde had began leaning forward some, assuming it was merely to see his embarrassment worn on his face at the moment. He immediately rose from his seat at the bar and retreated back to his initial spot near the bookcase without mentioning what Barron had revealed on how he lost one of his arms.

"I appreciate the formality, Barron, but I'd much rather if you just called me Kayleigh." she smiled, pulling up the end of one of her gloves up to rest near her elbow once again. She turned to scan the room, immediately recognizing everyone. Not by their faces, but by their magic. "Ken, Barron, Geo, Rey, Marlin, Hyde..." she muttered to herself, identifying each of the individuals in the room. "We're only missing a few people. I suppose once they decide to show up, we can get down to business." she announced, rather annoyed that not everyone had gathered quite yet.

Kendall sat silently listening to the bartender Barron and the boisterous person who'd been referred to as Hyde go back and forth taking shots at one another. Mentally, he'd been disturbed but tried his best not visibly to show any signs of it. "Well, just a question; if you don't mind me asking that is, Barron. What happened to your arm?" he asked, deciding to bring it up while the two were on the subject.

A woman began descending a nearby staircase, the sound of her high heels clicking with every step. "I see we're still waiting on a few others to arrive. Kendall, don't have too many drinks." she commented. At the sound of his name, Kendall's neck snapped towards the direction of the woman, immediately recognizing her as his mother. "Mom, I'm literally twenty-three..." he mumbled, hiding his nose in his empty glass trying to prevent everyone around him from noticing he'd now been blushing.

Kendall suddenly jumped up out of his seat at the sound of the door slamming open followed quickly by a boisterous individual making a very unnecessary entrance in his opinion. "Jesus Christ..." he muttered. With his arms still at his side, he extended his fingers on his right hand, telekinetically closing the door behind the person who'd kicked it open. "Some of these people are nuts..." he muttered, sitting back down finishing the rest of his drink shortly afterwards before pulling his phone out and sending a text his mother. 'Please hurry the hell up.' it read.

Kendall quietly sipped at his drink as Barron spoke, looking up at him afterwards. "I mean-- they're assassins, so they probably killed a few powerful people along the way. I know for sure it's got to be somewhat magic related too... My brother hasn't contacted me or my mother in five years since he joined the assassins and he quickly became the leader of them so I'm sure they've gained some strength and numbers, who knows what kind of powers and abilities they have." After speaking, he noticed someone else had entered the building, though wasn't particularly fond of the idea of introducing them. 'At least it's another guy who isn't like twelve or another walking animal.' he thought. He exhaled deeply before turning his eyes back towards Barron, figuring the bartender would get the newcomer's attention as he did with him.

Kendall examined the two others at the bar as they took the attention of who was introduced as Barron after shaking the male's hand. He picked up only one of their names, Marlin. 'What the hell is a cat human? I guess you get anything nowadays in the magical world...' the male thought to himself. He then turned his attention to the other person that had approached the bar, he looked pretty young and couldn't be anymore than 14 or 15 by his own estimate. "They'll recruit anyone these days..." he muttered, taking his drink and swinging it down his throat in a single gulp.

The male wiped his mouth as Barron followed up with a question in regards to what they're waiting for. "I doubt this is everyone that we're supposed to get in here, so I assume we're waiting for more of us to show up and probably for my mom and her people to give us instruction." he answered. The male swirled the tip of his finger along the rim of the cup, sighing and pushing it back towards Barron. "I'll take another, please." he requested.
