HUMAN: Along with being a species all their own, this is also the most common disguise used by the Huldrefolk to lure true humans astray. What they lack in magical prowess, they make up for in ingenuity, and adaptability.

HULDREFOLK: derived from the Scandinavian verb 'hylia' meaning "to hide", the Huldrefolk are dangerous creatures, who in this story inhabit the Huldre Woods that surround Dagbie. Their physiology is almost as widely ranged as their morality. Some, if treated with respect, will help out humans, while others like to pull tricks on them, and others have a downright bloodlust for mankind. In this version, their magic will also be stronger at night time. There are many different types, such as:

Huldra/Skogsra: Nymph-like creatures appearing in Scandinavian mythology. While they mostly appear human, one thing that sets them apart is their cow tail (Huldra) or fox tail (Skogsra) and a hollowed out back like a tree trunk. They are masters of allure, females particularly, and can easily lead humans astray, never to be seen again.They themselves can also pose as humans quite easily, so long as their hollow backs and tails remain out of sight.

Nokken: Dangerous water spirits of Scandinavian lore. They are mostly depicted as men who sit in the water and play the violin so beautifully as to lure humans into the water. The best hope of defeating them is throwing a piece of metal into the waters they reside in, or saying their true name. However, Nokken can be friendly, and it is said that if you bring one a treat of some kind, he will teach you to play violin as well as he can play.[/b]

Trolls Perhaps the most well-known of the Huldrefolk, the exact appearance of a troll varies from legend to legend. They can be as big as mountains with trees growing on them, or the can be human sized or smaller. They can be good or evil, intelligent or dumb and slow. Some eat humans, others do not. Some can be pretty, though most are considered to be ugly.

Ljosalfar/Dökkalfar: Ljosalfar (Light elves) and Dökkalfar (dark elves) are two contrasting types of elves found in Norse mythology. Dökkalfar are described as having a dark complexion and living underground, whereas Ljosolfar are said to be "brighter than the sun to look at". While in Scandinavian folklore elves are generally more benevolent than Huldrefolk, make no mistake: they can be just as, if not more dangerous with their magical prowess

Appearance: Dark, inky blue skin, with long black hair Abilities: Teleportationhes the ground, pointed ears, and glowing violet-blue eyes. If you look closely enough, you will see little white freckles on her cheeks that almost resemble stars in the night sky. She wears a dress like this, except in all black and dark blue.
Personality: Cold, indifferent, sarcastic, Vigdis always seems to be annoyed by something. However, she does have a strict moral code, and if you lend her a hand she will always return the favor. Of course, that works the opposite way too.
Nature: (how they would react to a human) Mostly indifferent, she sees most humans the same way humans see insects, and often will just ignore if they're there. However treat her well enough and she just might give you a hand.
Abilities: Vigdis can more or less teleport herself via entering the shadows of objects and coming out of other shadows. She can also turn into a shadow herself, mainly to hide from others. Vigdis also knows a little bit of magic, but she is far from being a master at it.
Weakness: Lantern. The light of a lantern (or any bright lights at all) hurts her eyes and burns her skin, so she will instantly flee from it. This is also why she lives underground.
