"Sorry what?! Y'know what? Forget it. Race over. We need to get inside first before we deal with this, we've been out and exposed a little too long for my liking."

"This isn't a cliff, this is the wall of a wooden building."

"You can climb up if you'd like... Yue, was it? We could even have a race, if you want to. Which of course I would win."

"Okay, geez. Sorry for having a personality for once, god."

"This is the window," Charlotte began speaking in a robotic voice, "As you can see, it is open and available for multiple humanoids and others to enter through. Iteral, would you please begin transferring the units up to the window."

"Of course I got the room, don't worry about it! And even if someone did see me and recognized me despite permanently dying my hair, they wouldn't think I'm with you guys. Im reputed as more of a lone wolf. C'mon, let's go!" Charlotte said excitedly.

"I cannot wait to see Parfait--that's my favorite of the parrots--again! It'll be very happy to see me, I'm sure. And don't worry, they all grow on you after a while."

Charlotte, true to her word, finished the task in record time, thankfully seeing no one she knew--though she did keep a hand on the hilt of her dagger the whole time.

She climbed out the window and sprinted around to the alley through a different path, and snuck up behind the group. "Hey," she whispered.

Charlotte led the group through a side gate, leading nearer to the more... run down part of town. She fiddled with the end of her braid as she walked quickly, trying to avoid being recognized as much as possible. She felt a tension in her shoulders release when she spotted the crooked sign for Parrot. She turned to the group again.

"Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to go in and order a room for us--one of the bigger ones with multiple beds. I'm going to pay him the extra for confidentiality. Then, I'm going to sneak out through the window of said room to collect y'all, and Iteral will fly people up through the window... assuming you're okay with that?" She asked the other, "and then Kendo can do whatever teleport-y thing he so desires. In the meantime, y'all stay behind this box in the alley."

"Kendo, did you hear any of that? Even if you are an experienced traveler, it's good to have a reminder."

She sighed. "Let's go."

She nodded, taking Kendo's comment seriously. Motioning for the group to follow her, she said: "When it comes down to it, let me do the talking. Just... trust me on this, okay?"

Charlotte looked back at the group, flipping her braid over her shoulder. "I mean it," she continued, glaring daggers at each of them in turn, "we don't want to get on anyone's bad side. In the part of town we're going to, a lot of people will sell information without hesitance. But if you rub them the wrong way, they'd go to the baddies and volunteer the information. We don't want to be noticed..."

"All in favor for Parrot Inn and Suites?" Charlotte asked, bouncing on her toes. This was her thing, she had knowledge no one else did! And maybe the Angel would be less likely to kill her now that she was useful.

"Well, if we want to flash off our highly unusual group but get nice rooms with good beds, breakfast in the morning, and get found by Legion, then we could stay at Mariposa Encanta. However, this is more of a low profile arrangement. So we've got Krafgen Inn, decent but not as comfortable, plus I scammed the owner once so I'm pretty sure he'd kill me on site. The last option with enough space for all of us is a real sketchy place, decent beds and cheap price but the owner has like twenty parrots and they have free range on the whole place. A lot of people who want to stay off the radar come here, it's a little gross to some of the more... aristocratic personalities, but the parrot dude keeps complete confidentiality for a price. And he's very religious, worships the Saint Deity, so he'll support our cause. It's called Parrot Inn and Suites." Charlotte finished and looked up, gauging the others' reactions.

Charlotte rolled her eyes at the group's antics. "Y'know, if we need a place to stay, I've got plenty of options. Been through Wildana quite a few times!" She flashed a grin.

Charlotte was annoyed. If they were trying to stop Legion and save a Saint, why weren't they moving with a little more urgency? She could've been to whatever supposed kingdom was ahead (she hadn't actually looked yet), turned around and come back to the group by the time they'd gotten this far. Instead, Iteral and Kendo were arguing, the Angel was just vibing at whatever speed she felt like, and... well, she didn't have any complaints about the person trailing at the end of the group. He looked just as bored as she was.

"Uh... what is that?" Charlotte asked, referencing to the clock Iteral just pulled out of her pocket and totally oblivious to the argument that was developing, "it's not a brainwashing device, is it? Because I've never experienced it myself, but..."

Charlotte pried up the floorboards in the room where she’d hidden her belongings. Moving quickly, she slung her bag over her shoulder and sheathed her long dagger in her belt. She stomped the boards back in place, dust flying up slowly, and sprinted down the hallway back outside. She arrived back at the group barely even out of breath, but still felt the need to apologize.

“Sorry,” she explained, ducking her head, “I…forgot some of my things.”

Suddenly, Charlotte remembered that she’d left all her things inside. She ran back in the manor, still worried she’d be left behind.

Charlotte watched as Kendo drew or wrote in a book, reading and eating and getting seemingly more frustrated. She was dying to know what was in it, especially as one of his stronger connections seemed to come from it.

Charlotte groaned as she landed wrong on the ground. She should’ve taken Itaral’s offer to ride on the broomstick.

She ran to get to the group, worried that the angel would leave without her. She didn’t seem like the type to tolerate tardiness, and Charlotte didn’t want to chance becoming expendable.

Charlotte sighed, annoyed at the angel for making her get up. It couldn’t be helped, though, as they probably did need to get on the road for whatever happened next.

She hung off the roof, setting her feet on the windowsill, and began to climb down the wall.

Charlotte squinted at them for a few moments, observing all the connections. “Well, not a sweater. They don’t work like that.” She winked at Itaral, “yours has a lot of thinner ties as opposed to a lot of strong ones. Usually, this would point to yourself having a large hand in your destiny rather than outside forces. This whole group, too, is all connected to each other. The rebellion or whatever.”
