Eyre only showed mild interest in Oneiro's appearance. Sure, he was immensely powerful, as they saw with his little entrance, but power wasn't the thing that warranted respect in her mind. Nevermind the fact that she had delt with strangers bowing to her many times in her youth, and she hated it. She wouldn't be a hypocrite, even if Oneiro, simply by tone alone, might have enjoyed it. Especially if he knew her family.

"Didn't think you'd meet us in person. I thought you were stuck in that..." Eyre paused to find the word. "Dream realm or something."

Eyre pinned her skirt to her in response to the wind. With her other hand, she sheilded her eyes from one of her long strands of hair. Eyre took a small note to change into clothes better suited for the outdoors. In her defense, when Eyre woke up she didn't know that she would be traveling into the woods and join a ragtag group of creatures, all lead by some dude in a dream to meet in a forest. Whatever.

As she looked around for answers to the gust of wind, she noticed a light. A green, gently glowing light. Hokori had noticed it too, from his comment about fireflies. She wasn't sure what fireflies looked like, but it didn't seem alive to her, at least in the sense that it was an animal or plant.

"Oh, I'm Eyre. E-y-r-e." she spelt out her first name, mainly because she knew people were gonna spell it as "air" at least once. "My last name is Cloud, which does make my name sound like air cloud." the lie came naturally to her. She had used the name for almost 7 years, so it almost was her real last name. "I can't believe I haven't introduced myself until now."

For a moment, Eyre was reminded of home. Her oldest brothers, Eber and Egil were fighting again about some dumb thing, and Ervin was, as always, trying to pacify them with words. And Eyre, she stood on the sidelines, there to separate the oldest two if need be. She didn't know why she noticed now and not sooner, it was almost uncanny. It made her miss home a little more.

Whatever, she wouldn't be able to do anything about her homesickness in the near future. She watched Vale melt into the foilage and wondered if he'd be back. Eventually, she concluded. She did make note of where he left, in case it wasn't the case. She waited for Alaparos, who was placed back in his wheelchair as quickly as he was shoved out of it, to explain it to the newcomer. She would add details if need be, but Eyre figured that it wouldn't be necessary.

Without putting much thought into the decision, Eyre ended up sending a message to Vale using her telepathy. "And besides, it's better to leave some things alive," her tone was lighthearted, but there was a bit of sincerity to it. She didn't know if Vale would be able to understand it, but she tried her best to make it as easy as possible to do so. Eyre knew, however, that the chance for him to respond the same way was slim. And if Alaparos couldn't devolve the situation, perhaps she could get Vale to focus on something else, like her.

"Oh well," Eyre gave a slight shrug with the statement. "Should have figured." Even if Hokori was right and they didn't need to split up, telepathy still had its uses in close distances. Whatever, she'll make do with using spoken language.

Eyre took a few steps back from the scene, she didn't want to be directly involved in it, but she'd help if push came to shove. Now a little further away, she noticed some rustling in the foliage near where Hokori entered. Out popped two foxes, one black one white. They approached the rest of the group, sniffing about. They were probably getting a feel for the area, like dogs. "They're kinda cute," She remarked. Eyre hadn't seen foxes in person before, let alone ones that were black or white. "Wonder why they're here."

Eyre cracked a small smile at the scarecrow's actions, but quickly returned to a neutral expression. "Splitting up the group..." she mumbled to herself. "Do you guys know how to use telepathy?" she asked, raising her voice so she would be heard. "It would make situations like these a little less annoying if we were able to communicate at far distances," she clarified. Eyre wasn't sure how common it was for terrestrial creatures to understand and use telepathy well, but everyone here probably had some magical training , so it wasn't that far out of the question to assume at least one other person learned it.

Eyre did stop, but more out of confusion than obedience. She stood there for a few moments, simply letting the various stimuli process and settle in her head. "Soo..." Eyre eyed the way the serpentine man went. "You guys wanna go follow?" she stretched her neck while asking, gently pushing her neck muscles to their limit before letting them rest. She had already noticed that her neck was beginning to protest about its sudden use, so she was attempting to soothe its woes.

"Maybe something or someone is missing?" Eyre speculated. "I'm not sure about everyone else, but Oneiros has only talked to me as I slept. So maybe we need to take a nap or something." She stripped parts of the bark on the trees using a combination of her magic and horns. She'd freeze up some of the water in the bark to give her an area to easily grip and strip the bark with the hook of her horn. Eyre took care to make the end of the strip pointed, so she knew which way they were headed if they got lost or wanted to go back. Although the process was a little complicated, she had done similar magical procedures many, many times. At this point it was as natural as breathing.

Eyre took the knife in her hands, muttering a thank you as she put the knife in the same hand as the journal. She didn't know if she'd really need it, but she appreciated it nonetheless.

Eyre faigned a neutral expression when the serpent expressed his opinion. "You know, sometimes it's better to leave things alive." There was a bite to Eyre's words, her true feelings bleeding out from her mouth. "And I trust that everyone is at least a little perceptive to notice a distinct lack of bark off of a few of the trees, especially since it would be at eye level for a lot of us."

"Maybe I can strip small pieces of bark off the trees?" Eyre suggested. She hadn't done it before, but she knew terrestrial goats did that, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. She would probably need some sort of indicator as well, as it's hard to see the sky with the trees overhead. The thought of walking brought her attention to her footwear. Even Eyre knew that her shoes weren't fit for this terrain, but she couldn't do much about it. If push came to shove though, she could just take them off.

With the potential threat gone in her mind, she shook the water off her horns. The water and her hair dispersed into the air, making her hair look even more of a mess than when she woke up. The only thing she did to fix it up was moving the hair out of her eyes. "I do have it written down in my journal here, so if we need it sometime in the near future I have it." she held out the journal. It was a small thing, it probably only held 150 pages, if you were feeling generous. It was binded in black faux leather and had a pencil tethered to it with some white string. Shortly after showcasing it, she ended up moving it closer to her chest again. Eyre didn't want anyone else to read it and she would make sure it would stay private until her death.

The change in the man's demeanor irked her. Was this guest to be feared? He had responded to her introduction with kindness, but this, this was fear. Or maybe it was dread. Either way, she widened her stance and lowered her head ever so slightly; a precautionary measure. On her horns, small seeds of water planted themselves on the coral, growing and spreading until even the base of the horns were covered and the air seemed ever so slightly more dry. Eyre would not attack unless provoked, but she felt safer with her magic.

The being approached them, he was a large, white humanoid snake. While his stature was intimidating, he showed no signs of aggression. She backed down, Eyre wasn't one to judge based off of appearances, but the human's initial reaction still kept her on edge and water on her horns.

Ah, she had been noticed. It wasn't too surprising, really. Eyre hadn't hidden herself too well, and she had been distracted by the change of atmosphere in the area. It felt similar to when she passed by the fields of coral at home, but not exactly. She was familiar with the ocean, first and foremost, and this was pretty new ground for her. Eyre did know, however, that this feeling was magic of some kind.

Whatever, the change retreated shortly after it started, and she had been noticed.

Eyre came out from behind the tree, ducking her head as she passed a low hanging branch. She casually rose her hands, one of which was still clutching her small dream journal that had lead her here in the first place. She made sure not to lower her head, as she did not want to intimidate them with her horns, even if all the rest of her was as intimidating as a guppy.

"Sorry for prying in," she started. Her voice was higher pitched, resting nicely in her mixed voice, but was strong, and naturally loud. As she approached, Eyre was able to get a closer look at all the beings that had gathered. A wolf, an elf, a scarecrow, and a human. Two humans, if she counted herself. The human, a young man wearing a metallic tag of sorts, was staring at her, seemingly without judgment. A thought flew around in her mind: that the tag the man wore was, in a way, similar to her coral. She quickly threw the idea out. After all, it was way more likely that it was just an accessory or heirloom of sorts. "I couldn't help but hear you guys talking about dreams. Specifically, a dream very similar to one of mine from last night." She held her journal close to her chest as she recanted her dream. "Um...someone named Oneiro had told me in this dream that some kind of corruption or curse was arising again and to go into these woods." she gently tapped the book as she recalled the words. "I was nearby anyways, so I decided to listen to the voice in my head." She took another look at the others. "Clearly, I wasn't the only one."

As she wandered the woods, she started hearing voices. For a moment Eyre thought she was going insane, if she wasn't already, but as she kept walking the voices ebbed in intensity as she made her way along. She turned around and slowly made her way back from where she came. The voices as her guide, she found herself quietly observing a menagerie of beings. Interestingly enough, they were talking about the same dream she had, at least from what she had gathered. She brought her journal closer to Her. She had brought it mainly for security, but maybe it would be more useful than she thought.

The car crawled to a stop, and slept. She already saw the collector from her truck, patiently waiting for the books. Eyre stepped out and waved to them. The air here lacked the humid and salty air that was in the last town. Instead the air smelled... Eyre couldn't put a word on it, musty? It wasn't that noticeable, but compared to where she came from it was a change.

The two exchanged words and friendly banter. Apparently, the books were written hundreds of years ago, which explained why the trailer couldn't have any humidity in it. Eyre carried the boxes of books to the building, resting them on one of the carts in the entrance. There had to be at least fifty of them, almost all leather-bound and hard for her to read. She didn't want to know how much all of the books cost. The collector thanked Eyre for her work and the two departed.

Off to Voltum she went. It wasn't all that long ago she had been there. It was two--maybe three--years max since she graduated, and she had made visits occasionally the first year she graduated. She wasn't going there to visit exactly, but after this was all done she would go pay a visit to one of her professors.

Eyre pulled into one of the less used side streets and parked her truck. The woods started right by the ditch, it's darkness quietly calling to her. Eyre sat in her seat, staring into the woods for some obvious sign. She reached for her journal, her hand tracing over the creases in the faux-leather binding. After a moment, she briskly got out of the truck and went in the woods. "This is such a dumb idea," she said out loud. "I got nothing better to do, though." The day was still young, and she had nothing planned for the rest of the day, might as well enjoy herself with a walk in the woods.

The trip to the gas station was uneventful, Eyre got her breakfast, paid for gas, and sat in her truck to eat her breakfast, an English muffin with sardines and simple toppings sandwiched in the middle. Most people she came across didn't appreciate the meal, but to her, it was a good combination of land food and sea food, even if the fish weren't all that fresh. Eyre read the latest log of her dream journal as she ate. It was normal for the first few dreams, near nonsensical but probably had some trivial meaning, but the last one got her attention. Eyre had finished eating by then, tossing the wrapper into a bag in the passenger side of the car. An entity named Oneiro gave her a monologue, and sleepy Eyre had remembered most of it. She had even underlined important things within the entity's dialogue itself, something that was lacking in all her other entries.

"The woods by Voltum, eh?" she said to herself. "Well, give me a few hours to deliver these books and I'll be there," she started her truck, the machine purring in acknowledgment. The trip would be quiet, one of the few times it was, in her life. She figured the rest of her day would end up being loud, or at least eventful, so she kept the music off and simply basked in the silence.

Thud. Touseled blankets, pillows thrown off the bed, and a pile of cloth with a crown of horns were the only signs of life in the otherwise desolate hotel room. The royal clothes rolled over and away from the bed. A groan rumbled from within the mass as it stretched out and revealed itself to be a humanoid. Eyre slowly massaged the back of her head while she brought herself to sit up. Memories of last night pooled in as she coaxed and warmed up her mind. She stopped easing the pulsing pain in the back of her head to reach behind her and grab a small journal only a few centimeters longer than her hand. She paged through the journal and stopped at a blank page towards the end of the book. She instantly started to write using a pencil strapped onto the book. Eyre wasn't fully processing what she was writing, only recording her dreams and memories from the previous night. It was full of errors and vague wordings, but the young goat wanted to record them before they swam away from her. "Dreams are one of the oldest kinds of magic," Eyre's mother would tell her as she went to sleep. She wasn't sure if her mother was right, but it was entertaining to read her dreams later on in the day when she was more awake, misspellings and all.

She closed the book with a resounding thud. Eyre stood up, stretched, and grabbed her cuffs that were also on the bedside table. She latched the cuffs on her horns, the clean clicking clearing her mind from the fog of sleep. The sun spilled in from one of the windows, giving the room a warm source of light. It reminded Eyre of the sun refracting into the shallow waters during the first hours of the morning. Eyre made a note to call home sometime.

Eyre cleaned up the mess that was the bed and gathered up the rest of her things. She made no time to prepare herself for the outside world and went out of the hotel room to go check out. She had to leave early in order to make her delivery in one day. If she remembered correctly, the delivery was located in one of the towns near her old school. She wanted to go pay a visit to her alma mater, probably for the nostalgia. Either way, she needed to get this delivery done and she wouldn't work on an empty stomach. She checked out and drove to the nearest gas station.

"There is, but not a lot of people are aware of its existence. Only a few people with the potential can use it, and even then you have to make an agreement with an..." Melia started making gestures to try to draw the object in question. "...A talking stuffed animal? I guess? It's white, cat-like, the size of a house cat, and deceivingly cute. You get a wish, and in turn, you have to fight the witches." She recalled what Kyubey had told her after she signed the contract. She still didn't regret her decision, even now. "It's a dangerous job, though." She added. "So you have to decide if your wish is potentially worth more than your life."
