"Well, it's hot," Marshall said a bit more grumpily than he meant, irritated by the sun. He didn't mind the sunshine for the most part, but today it was too bright for his liking. With the addition of heat, Marshall almost regretted leaving the house. Mavis pointed to a little house in one of the fields
"That's a cute one, isn't it?" She said happily, to which Marshall mildly improved his grumpy state to look.
"Is that the town?" He asked as they reached the top of the hill. Mavis nodded.

"Oh, no! No, no no," Raven said, suddenly perking up with his eyes widened.
"I uh... well, y-you um... I-i'm not a Death dragon. They're the ones that sell their mentality to the Shadowbringer--they're basically shells that only know violence and... well, death. Not that the darkness dragons aren't that way. W-we actually have... feelings. They don't."
He slowed his pace so that he walked next to Adriane, his eyes flitting around the forest bashfully. "The Shadowbringer... he never speaks to me directly. I don't matter enough to him. He gives our oracles the prophecies and he gives us rules to live by, but he never speaks to us.
"He... does this thing... I don't know how it works, but he blocks out everything that makes us... well, "sweet", like you said. So we sort of just... don't have most of those emotions." Raven paused.
"We don't hate the Light dragons any more than we hate everyone else. Although that doesn't mean much, I uh... was that offensive?"
He looked over to her with softer eyes. "I-i'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that."

Allium flinched at Crystal's statement--visibly so. She wasn't expecting such a harsh remark, and it reminded her of her older sister. The word 'impudent' alone brought her terrible memories, but the hatchling part... that just hit far too close to home. She barely realized that she had shrunk back. Rogue met her eye from across the room, his light gaze hard but somehow still reassuring.
The hybrid perked up when she heard Matthew's words--it had been such a swift motion, and Rogue had distracted her--and regathered her composure in an instant. "Matthew, don't. It's nothing. I don't want to cause any trouble, okay?" She said softly, in a somewhat soothing tone. There was no lingering or hesitation as she spoke, even if her fist was balled behind her back. She took a deep breath, but not loud enough to where anyone could hear it.

Waffle's Charas:

Name: Evangeline "Evie" Wynn
Show hidden content
Age: 16

Element: Air. She and Ara share a body but they have a pretty tame relationship.

Appearance: (In addition to the image) Evie stands at 5"6 and always keeps her goggles in reach. When not wearing her pajamas or school clothing, Evie tends to wear the most comfortable thing she has in her closet, which is usually her brown button jacket, some baggy pants--not without her utility belt, of course--her worn-out combat boots, and a dark-colored scarf.

Enrolled in school for: Both, although she shows a bit more interest in mechanics.

Personality: Evie is rather spunky and outgoing. She's an optimist and stubborn to the bone, which is both a good and a bad thing. She holds strong opinions but they're usually justified. Evie is a bit reckless and inattentive--she likes to call herself a "risk-taker" anyway--and makes terribly bold statements and decisions. She's very passionate about weaponry.
While Evie is energetic and excited towards everything, weaponry will always hold a special place in her heart.
Evie enjoys socializing, but she is brutally honest and tends to unintentionally hurt people around her with her words. She's a bit innocent and oblivious, which doesn't always go well on her end. Evie is mildly sarcastic tries her best to hold back. She's very sensitive and is, in general, a good friend to others. She's slowly starting to make more rational decisions, because of Ara and can be a little bit protective of those around her. She is rather naive.

Brief History: Evie grew up with a single father who took great pride in his weapons and combat skills. He had graduated from the school of weaponry and, while open to whatever Evie wanted, was thrilled when she took an interest in weaponry. Evie's father, after years of begging, taught her the basics of self-defense--or, at least, a responsible amount for an eight-year-old. Besides that, Evie led a very tame and happy life with her father until she turned ten, to which she eagerly enrolled in the school of weaponry with the help of her father's ties.

Name: Ara
Show hidden content
Age: 302

Element: Air. Possesses Evie.

Appearance: Ara shares an appearance with Evie and, because of this, looks like her. She occasionally shows up in Evie's lucid dreams and has the appearance of a young, long-haired girl, but her features are a bit foggy and undistinguishable.

Enrolled in school for: She tends to stay silent during school hours since most of her passion is in her element. She pays attention sometimes during combat classes, though.

Personality: Ara is a sweetheart. She is a tad bit bashful but she wouldn't quite call herself shy, although she rarely has to talk to anyone besides Evie. She likes it that way since she's never been the best at conversation. Ara is terribly innocent and childish, but her moral compass controls her actions, unlike Evie. Ara is wise and logical, despite her personality, and quite rarely will help Evie in decision-making.
She is terribly quiet and goes into a "sleep mode" for most of the day, so she isn't in Evie's head most of the time. She only takes control of Evie's body with permission and the two have a rather healthy relationship, as long as Evie agrees to use her elemental abilities whenever Ara wants her to. Dancing along in the wind is good enough for her. Ara is actually rather strong and has the ability to overpower Evie if she wanted to, but she only does it when Evie truly steps out of hand.

Brief History: Unspoken of.

It was a bit longer before Raven calmed down, loosened his grip on Adriane, and wiped his sodden cheeks. He realized quickly that he had been frightened--something he hadn't felt too much before--by the sudden spell. When he was younger, he remembered tales of Death dragons that had died from trying to stop speaking to the Shadowbringer, and the thought alone brought shivers to his spine... I deserve it, but I don't want to die, he thought to himself, keeping close to Adriane so that she wouldn't have to walk on her injured leg. He coughed into his sleeve, once again ignoring the blood, and sighed.
"I'm... sorry about that," he said, clearing his throat in hopes to make his voice sound less dry, "We should get going. I don't want to worry Adeli--everyone." Raven straightened his beanie and looked out into the forest towards the cabin.
----------
"Well, I can ensure you that his combat skills are nothing to distrust... he's rather protective, too," Adeline said, smiling politely. She said this not in a daring tone but a bright one, despite the sense of defense in her voice.
Allium perked up a bit, re-tying her ponytail and looking back at them. "I could go check on them if you want. I'm about to head out, anyway," she said, standing by the door with her bag in hand. She slung it over her shoulder.

Raven's first instinct was to pull away, but he decided that it was warmer in her arms so he didn't move. He hiccuped a bit, unable to stop crying. Raven tightened his grip a bit, although not enough to hurt her and huffed. His messy crying died down a bit, enough for him to choke out a few words. "I-i... How do I s-stop c-crying?" He mumbled.
-------
"I doubt anything bad's happened... even so, she's perfectly safe with Raven," Adeline reassured, glancing over to the window.

Rain took a final look back and cocked his head, giving a satisfied nod and sitting back a bit. "There ya go." He set his hands back in his lap and sighed, looking over at Crysia and Reign (who had moved closer to them). Crimson sat on a nearby branch, swinging his legs a bit as he watched them--he wasn't necessarily trying to hide, but they took little notice.

Raven's mind swirled. The focused voice, the direct urge of the Shadowbringer was no longer there--he felt alone and his brain felt like empty dark squiggles. His god had been disconnected from him, yet his voice still lingered. It was but an imprint that had been left on him; his moral compass had been out of place from the beginning and he now realized that not all his problems had been solved. But the voice was gone and he felt everything his God had deemed as soft or vulnerable and useless all at once.
He pulled closer to her, wrapping his arms around her like she had done to him. "N-no, it's all good. Thank you," he mumbled, his words almost undecipherable under tears. He nestled his face into her shoulder hesitantly, crying uncontrollably.

Raven gasped in surprise, clawing at his throat. His irises flitted rapidly, his scales flashing on his skin. His horns had pulled out of his head and he began to cough, falling to the ground on his knees. Blood poured out of his mouth and onto the grass, staining it a dark maroon. His ears began to ring and his head seemed to split apart, to which he clutched it and clenched his now-sharpened teeth.
"W-what... what did you do?... Where is the voice?..." He hissed through his clenched teeth once the coughing had stopped, covering a majority of his body and face with his wing. He was in his half-hybrid form and only his vermillion-colored eyes poked out, staring at her with more fear than violence. Raven trembled, not seeming to notice Adriane's pain.

She rolled her eyes and looked at him pitifully--well, she felt more annoyed than pitiful--with her chin resting on her fist. "Mhm. You're... annoyingly persistent." The Queen rose, her chair scraping against the floor. She closed the gap between him, her slow stride soundless.
She kneeled down by him, "How about I elaborate a little bit?" Her eyes narrowed and she dropped her voice to a whisper, "I could have your intestines out on the floor in a heartbeat. I could rip your voice box out of your throat with a snap of the fingers, and you'd be able to do nothing to stop me."
"And if that's not enough for you, Lucifer, I'll tear the spines out of your loved ones... rip out all their nails and dig them in their eyes. Keep you alive and watching so that you have to live with the guilt, the terror of knowing that you are the reason that everyone around you has suffered." She motioned violently with her hands. "Or. You could keep your mouth shut and do what I tell you, like the little dog that you are." The Queen stood once more, walking away from him a bit and glaring. "Now, I'll say it again. Get out," she said, suddenly hissing.

The Queen easily caught the bottle and set it down next to the one on the floor. She looked back slightly, flashing her eyes and flicking her hand so that he would slam into the nearest wall. "I do believe we've been playing around for too long. You've forgotten your place, Lucifer," she hissed. "Have you forgotten how easily I could rid of you? Of all those that you care about? If I wanted to bind your little girlfriend to me, it'd already be done! She wouldn't even hesitate, would she?" She scowled visibly. "You're no match for me sober. Get out. I don't need to waste magic on you."

Raven stopped as if she were leading him into a trap. He pulled back a bit and took a silent, long look at her face as if to double-check that she was being sincere. He blinked rapidly when he realized that she was and half-decided that it would be better on her part if he didn't end up killing the fire dragon if their paths crossed again. He wondered, for a moment, if Adriane would feel guilty--she was terribly kind, after all--and concluded that she probably would. But it is better for her safety in the long run, he reminded himself.
"You're not alone," Raven said bluntly as if it were an obvious statement. He paused, regretted it, and softened his tone a bit. "What I mean is you're safe, Adriane. And you certainly won't be left alone if you don't want to. You've got all of us now, don't you? And I doubt he'd care enough about you to come back. Certainly doesn't respect you enough."

"Well, we're certainly on no shortage of money," Mavis said happily, a bit of a bounce in her step. "I'm sure there's honey, though. I think the Farmer's Market is a good start." Her boots began to scuff against the ground as the roads steadily grew more uphill, and she wiped her face and huffed. The shopping list in Marshall's hand made a soft crinkling sound as he fiddled with it, and the winds began to pick up a little bit more so that it would get cooler.

"It's... alright," Raven said, a lingering hesitation in his voice, "It's all alright." He paused, noticing how she was still clinging to him but relaxing a bit in her embrace. "I don't... he's not going to come back. Promise. I'll kil--fight him again if he does." Raven looked down at her--not quite sure what to think--and sunk into silence.

Void squeaked and flailed his front paws a bit as Magnolia picked him up, his fur fluffing up wildly. He jumped up onto the seat and pinned his ears back, staring at her spitefully. "Let it go, bud," Wither said happily, rubbing his head after she had finished the business with Nanaki and walked over. She thanked him, smiling, and Spectrum sat down awkwardly with Kaleidoscope at her side. Wither thanked Nanaki and sat next to Void, pushing her hair behind her shoulders.

There was little to no reaction from the Queen--she hardly even looked back and had put no stop to her humming of eerie melodies. "I do believe Crysia's loyalties are on her own account. She's not even bound to me, although I suppose you know that." She calmly stopped her brushing to put the whiskey bottle on the floor beside the dresser.

Raven's mind spun and his first instinct was to pull away and run. Instead, he forced himself still and inhaled sharply. He thought of a woman and her child that he had once encountered in a marketplace and how the woman had comforted her child when he had seen Raven's piercing crimson stare and, very stiffly, looked at Adriane. "There, there," he said, stiffly patting her head (although it was more of a bop than a pat) twice.

The Queen hummed contently as she sat by her dresser, running a wooden comb through her ivory hair. It seemed to shimmer beneath the moonlight and almost touched the floor. The thorn-like headpiece that she called a crown sat on the side of the dresser. Crimson stood by the open doors of the balcony, his hands neatly folded in front of him. "I see. And the other twin, he knows?" She asked softly, her mind calculating even as he spoke.
"Not exactly."
The corners of her mouth twitched upwards slightly, her eyes glistening in amusement. "I do hope you know what would happen if you tried to double-cross me, Crimson." The Queen turned back and smiled at him, a flash of blindingly white teeth that seemed to scream bloody murder. "Go back. And do keep an eye on that rebellious dog of mine, would you?" She turned back to her combing and Crimson turned to leave.

"But you can heal yourself, right?" He looked over at her and blinked sharply, but his face was still somber. "I don't understand why you're crying. Are you... are you sad?" Raven slowed his pace so that she could keep up to him easily while limping and eventually stopped altogether in a mix of confusion and concern.

Raven, on the other hand, had learned to only let his guard down when he was at least two miles away from the battlefield. He had apparated to the ground in front of Adriane and caught awkwardly by the waist as she fell, waiting until she was upright and completely balanced before he stepped back to her side. "You're okay?" He asked, a bit guilty that the fire dragon had managed to leave a mark on her before he intervened. Raven had, admittedly, hesitated when he stepped closer to Adriane--it was only until he had tried to force his hand on her that all of his hesitation was wiped. I'd best work on that, he thought, walking beside her.

Mavis strolled in the middle of the dirt road as they walked through the countryside--there were hardly any people, and the chances of a car popping up were incredibly low--with a picnic basket dangling at her side and sweat beading on her forehead from the scintillating midday sun. She had to admit that, even with the heat, it was a beautiful place.
"The town's not... too far from here. At least, not when compared to the distance that we've already walked. I've only been there a few times, but it's nice," she said, looking to Marshall and Viola brightly. "Thanks again for coming with me. The walk's always been boring."
"No need for thanks," Marshall said, biting into a citrus for extra energy. He made a motion to the left (although not quite left enough to hit Viola in the face), and a slightly cooler breeze combed through. Mavis looked at him with tight lips, a solemn expression on her face.
"It's natural. There's nobody around to take notice, anyway."
