Once I was riding a horse (I was ~10) and wearing shorts. It was pretty chill and peaceful. On my way back to the stables though there was a barbed wire fence opening i had to go through (which should be enough for a horse and its rider usually) but I was riding a really tall horse, seeing how the one I usually rode was injured and couldn't carry people around. I squeezed through with the horse and I felt a scratch on my right knee but I didn't really bother to check since it didn't hurt. When I got off the horse though I felt itchy on my knee (the scratched one) and without looking I scratched part of it. I felt something wet on my hand though which made me look. My knee had two large, deep cuts on the inner side, and blood was gushing out. There was a trail of blood that would go all the way from my wounds to the inside of the sandal I was wearing at the time, and a pool of blood started forming underneath my foot. The dude who took care of the stables, when he saw my leg, his eyes grew like 500% as he stared dumbfounded lol. But then he snapped out of it and helped me contain the blood, and wash my leg. Then he called a security car to take me to the place's nurse. I was supposed to get about 10 stitches on the first cut, and 12 on the other. But we were in the middle of nowhere at a farm so the nurse didn't have the resources to do so. She managed to patch it up with some medical tape (what she called false stitches) and I had to change the bandages twice a day. Fun times lol And well. If illnesses count too, then there was this time (about 2-3 years ago) I was hospitalized due to kidney infection. I spent all day on the computer with cramps and I started getting some back pain, and I thought it was because of the computer chair. I also had my period at the time so I didn't pay attention to the cramps. At one point the pain started growing a bit so I laid down on my bed in fetal position, trying to see if the pain would go away. When I started shivering and trembling (I never get bad cramps) my mom decided to take me to the emergency room. She started noticing something was wrong when I actually asked her to take me to the doctor. When we got to the waiting room I sat down and waited for my mom to do her thing (hand in documents to the receptionist etc) and the pain would get worse and worse and worse. By the time they called us to see the doctor, I was shivering as much as I would be if I were naked on the snow. Tears were streaming down my face but I didn't say a word about it lol So we met the doctor who was going to check up on me, and he couldn't lay a finger on me without me screaming with pain. So they gave me 2L of liquid painkillers in my vein so they could examine me. First doctor didn't know what was going on, he asked a colleague to help. He didn't know what was going on either, so he took me to a 3rd doctor. That doctor thought it was my appendix - my mom wasn't sold on it but the doctor literally said to my mom's face "well we can open her up. If it's not her appendix, we just close her up". So my mom demanded another doctor and didn't want that last one to even get close to me anymore lol. After lots of exams and what it seemed to be an episode of House MD they called the director of the place, who ordered a couple more tests and told me to go home for the night and come back early in the morning (the pain killers would last for at least another 12h and we had spent the whole day over there). The next day when we show up the director was like "We ordered a urine test, and the results are here. A normal person is supposed to have 10.000 white cells in their urine, and whenever someone hits 1.000.000 we usually hospitalize them because it means they have a pretty bad infection. Right now, you have 6.237.564 white cells. You're going straight to the hospital." Turns out if I had waited a bit more I would've had kidney failure and needed a transplant, or even died. And that's how I ended up being hospitalized for a week, with antibiotics being pumped up inside my veins in an amount they'd usually give to a small horse. THE END [Read more] |
