"Oh, she's still at work for another few hours," he replied, smiling a bit. Rogue fiddled with his hands a bit, hardly noticing that his fingertips had gone blue again.

Jasper exhaled sharply, leaping to his feet and stretching his arms over his head. He walked over to the door and gestured for Dawn to follow, leaving Belle on the couch by herself. "I never did teach you how to shoot, did I?" He mumbled, to which she started to carefully explain the concept of peace to him. They walked out of the house anyway and were soon out of earshot.
Belle pulled her knees up to her chest and buried her face into them, her hair sprawled out in every direction.

"It's musky," Reign mumbled, his nose scrunching the moment they entered the room. Crysia rolled her eyes, skimming her hand along the wall. "Oh, stop whining. Weren't you always the adventurous one when we were kids?" She pulled her hand away upon touching a cobweb.
"You're injured."
"Shh. It's full moon. Nothing a little power surge can't fix, yeah?"
Reign sighed and followed behind her, wiping his face in exasperation. "You're a pain, Crysia," he practically hissed. She only shrugged and walked further into the depths of the pitch-black room, humming a bit as she looked around. She made a small observation out loud, noticing that the room was similar to a cellar. Reign only huffed, "Honestly, we should just--"
"Wait, no. Shut up. See that? There's something glistening." Before Reign could complain, she darted forward to go inspect it. Her fingers had been outstretched to grab it but she stopped, frozen in her tracks, upon realizing what it was. Crysia stared at the silver cross hanging from a nail, her eyes glistening with raw anger. She gritted her teeth and turned around, her irises slitting rapidly. "It's a priests' sign. The kind of priests that they used to send after us--the real ones, with the incantations."
Reign blinked sharply. "Well, it doesn't matter. They're gone. Can we leave now?"

Raven frowned a bit but he seemed a bit more reassured. "Okay," he said, leaning back, "but tell me if you need anything." He perked up almost immediately upon hearing footsteps near the door, peering out the window in a matter of seconds. He spotted Rogue and calmed down a little bit, twitching his fingers back when Rogue waved. Raven opened the door for him and re-locked it when it entered.
"Hello hello~" Rogue said jubilantly, readjusting his satchel. His eyes flicked over to Adriane and Adeline gave him a brief explanation (so Adriane wouldn't have to explain it for the third time). "Oh, that's... I hope you heal well," he said, stumbling over his words a bit.

Jasper nonchalantly flicked his hand again so that a small, focused gust of wind curled around the burnt area in hopes that it would cool off just a bit. He seemed unaffected by this, if not for the small scrunch in his nose that indicated annoyance. He flicked the page of his book and briefly flicked at his nose.
Jasper continued to read in an undisturbed silence until he heard the door rattle, to which he marked his book and looked up over the backside of the couch. Belle and Dawn entered the house with exhausted looks, Belle softly cursing the heat.
"Dawn," Jasper grumbled, almost in a whimpering tone, "I'm having second thoughts about keeping this guy. He's ruined our furniture. The childish temper I can deal with, but he burned the couch."
She looked down at him and sighed, "He's just as problematic as we are. I can sew it up easy."

Elliot's jubilance was reflecting onto Evie--she was grinning wildly and practically blooming with excitement. She took a few minutes before she said something, mostly because she was trying to translate what Elliot had replied (she still didn't understand). Evie contemplated breaking out one of her old Morse code guides--she had to have one somewhere--but decided that it would be too much effort. Elliot could translate, anyway.
"So now we need to work on the face-feet thing. I think you also misplaced the steam compactor. But it should be fine--since you recognized the problems. You'll get this in no time!" She gave Elliot a reassuring look and brushed her hair out of her face.

"Are you feeling okay?" Raven asked, moving to the couch that was closest to Adriane. The couch sunk underneath his weight and he shifted a bit, visibly uncomfortable (although it was mostly because he was on the edge). Adeline's gaze trailed him as he walked over to the other couch, although she stayed in her seat. She would've been proud of him for warming up to someone so quickly, but she was more focused on Adriane's injury than anything.

Jasper was sitting on the couch with his legs crisscrossed, biting his thumbnail as he read a book. He hardly looked up at Justin entered the cottage, able to recognize him from his footsteps (and angry door opening). "Good trip, I take it?" He mumbled, more interested in the contents of his book than Justin's mood. He circled his limp hand and the wind began to howl, shutting the door behind him. The wind ebbed into silence the moment that Jasper heard the door click, knowing Dawn was picky about safety (even though they were in the middle of a forest).

"Oh shut up," Silver said, hitting him lightly on the shoulder. She was smiling and her cheeks had flushed--she hated embarrassment more than anything--when he said that, although Silver was subconsciously tilting her face away from him. She patted her bangs out of habit and rolled her eyes a bit, grinning.

Jack paused, awkwardly stumbling with his words. His ear began to twitch rapidly as if he were picking up on the conversations of the passerby (which wasn't true, because the nearest people were out of his hearing range). "The thing is, uh... I sort of... don't have an ID? And, uh, I don't think that 'if you don't have an ID we'll kill you' thing is a myth... so... I legally don't exist and can't leave the city?" He shrunk back a bit, mildly afraid of what Crystal would reply. He was half-expecting her to leave him behind and go herself since they didn't know each other too well. He was never good at sustaining friendships, anyway.

Dawn quickened her pace so that she walked next to Belle, still staring at where Justin had disappeared. "He's not going to get lost, is he? Do you think he's remembered the way back to the cottage?" She said tentatively, her eyes widened.
"I don't know. Don't really care, to be honest. He's not my responsibility."
"Belle!"
"What?"
Dawn huffed and grabbed her wrist, looking her in the eye. Belle seemed unfazed by this. "Belle," she repeated, firmly.
"Maybe he wants to be alone? I don't know. There's nothing to apologize for. I'll talk to him if he gets back to the cottage. Happy?" Belle swatted Dawn's hand away and kept walking, not waiting for an answer.

Belle stole a glance at Justin in interest. So that's what it takes to shut him up, huh? She thought, mildly surprised. She had expected him to be a bit more stubborn than that, but she discarded the thought and reminded herself that she'd hit too close to home. She had always been apathetic when it came to her past, anyway. She stared straight ahead the rest of the walk.

"One was a Darkness fantasy," Marshall mumbled bluntly to Viola, noticing Mavis and stopping to face her.
"The girl," she muttered, barely able to raise her voice above a whisper, "that was her. She's the one that... tortured me and Draco." Mavis's shivering was gaining some side glances from the crowd and Marshall stepped a bit closer to her, grimacing at the hostile passerby.
"Hey," he said softly, drawing her attention, "it'll be okay. You're safe with Viola and I, yeah? They're not gonna hurt you." She looked up at him, swallowed some air, and nodded. Her fingers were lightly tracing a healed-up cut and she stopped, realizing what she was doing. Mavis quickly brushed the hair out of her face and stood back up.
"I'm fine. Let's... finish this and get out."
-------
Dawn quickly trailed behind the two, apologizing to an old woman that she nearly ran into. She looked at Belle and awaited an answer, to which Belle glanced back at her and sighed.
"Those were some of the Fantasies." She looked over at Justin and added, for good measure, "The ones that Alex hangs around. We're... We didn't know that they were even around here. It's best that we stay away from them."
Dawn glanced over her shoulder and bit her lip hard, readjusting her backpack and picking up her speed. So close... but... She sighed, hung her head, and followed Belle back to their cottage.

Marshall had shrunk back the moment that Belle had entered the picture. Two out of three of them had murder in their eyes, and that was enough to scare him off. He caught something that the guy had said--something about the sun irritating him. It was at that moment that he realized that the stranger was a Darkness fantasy, and he lightly took Viola's wrist and began to back away slowly. "No, yeah... my plan was to just... slooowly blend into the crowd..." He mumbled, not making any swift movements so that he wouldn't draw their attention.
"Hey, Marshall, I got a really good price on some limes--" Mavis walked up to them, rummaging through her basket. She glanced up at Belle and her smile faded into fear. She froze and the basket nearly slipped out of her hand. Belle saw her and flinched, grabbing Justin's wrist (she knew that Dawn would follow but she wasn't as sure about him) and immediately weaving them into the crowd away from the trio. Mavis only stared at where they had once been, unable to move.

"As long as it didn't explode," Evie said, trying to add a more positive note. Elliot's grades were salvagable, but the morse crow... well, not so much. She moved the tower of books off of her lap and stood up to get closer to the morse crow. As she picked it up and gently cradled it in her arms, Evie thought about how she should probably not be picking it up in the case of an explosion. She set it in front of her and returned to her crisscrossed position, hunching over and inspecting it. "So it feels with its face, huh?... well, you recognized the mess up. That's good."
She raised her finger to tap a phrase on the crow's face but paused upon realizing that her knowledge of the morse code was very limited. Her finger circled in the air about three times before she tapped a simple 'hello' onto the crow's face. Evie shuffled back a little bit and awaited a response from the creature.

"You seem to be a nice Mango?" Silver offered, smiling a bit awkwardly. She coiled her tail around her leg so that she would stop swishing it around. She let out somewhat of a breathy laugh. "I wasn't sure what to use there. 'Civilian' is normal to me, anyway," she said a bit too quickly out of her own mild embarrassment.

Jack narrowed his eyes a bit as he held out a map that he had snagged from a merchant's table. He then realized that he had been holding it upside-down and flipped it, holding it up to the light this time. "Okay. So. We lack the manpower, stealth, charisma, and overall skill to get past the guards or even get near them. And we're... right around the middle of the city, I think.
"Which would mean we'd have to take one of the transports aaaaallll the way to around the edges. I've heard of an abandoned sewer tunnel that other refugees have used to get out. The Undergrounds, I think? Have you heard of it? Either way, I think there's a chance that it's a myth... and we don't want to find out what lives in uncharted sewers."
He sighed and his ears flattened with the motion. A bit grumpily Jack looked up to the skies at the winding cables. Very occasionally a sky train would zip by, and the cables would sink underneath their weight.

"Hey. Calm down a bit, would you? It's not his fault," Dawn said chidingly, putting a firm hand on his outstretched forearm and pushing it away slightly. "You lot are always looking for a fight, honestly..." She mumbled under her breath, not caring whether or not Justin had heard her. She looked back up to the stranger, who was reassuring his friend quickly. He seemed a bit young and she had never seen him around town, but there was something about him that was a tiny bit off-putting. He didn't look like one of the townspeople to Dawn, but... Spending all that time around Belle and Jasper is getting to me. I'm just paranoid, probably.
She swiveled her head around, wondering where Belle had wandered off to. Her blue braid did a little flick and she put out a hand to stop it, hardly noticing Belle when she crept up next to her. She flinched slightly and whipped to face her, smiling happily in a hope to cover it. Belle looked over at Marshall, her narrowed eyes combing up and down the stranger's body. She decided that it wasn't anything to worry about and glanced around nonchalantly, staying close to Dawn.

Her cheeks flushed a bit in embarrassment, "I don't care about it that much. You seem to be a... nice civilian, anyway." Silver said this in what was a somewhat teasing tone, although she spoke the truth. She wasn't quite sure if Mango could tell, though.

Silver chortled, as if she were expecting a joke, but stopped upon his invitation. She hesitated for a moment, her tail still waving back and forth. Sure, she thought, why not? He seems nice. Silver pushed her hair back over her shoulder, nodded slightly and offered a slight smile. "Yeah, alright. That's nice of you. Thank you."

Jinx smiled and nodded, "That sounds good!" She looked at her wristwatch and back at Rowan, still smiling at him obliviously. "We'd best get going... I still have a few patients to tend to. See you two around~" She turned to leave and Rowan followed, bearing a slumped posture with his hands still in his pockets. Once he was sure that they were out of earshot, he turned to Jinx and narrowed his eyes.
"Why the hell did you do that? Are you forgetting all of the Eye members that we do business with?"
Her eyes were still sparkling as if they were smiling at him. "I need help. The citizens need help. She doesn't have to know about the Eye members--she seems like a good person. If not for us, Rowan, it's for the health of the people around us. It's my business as a medic and it doesn't have to be yours."
He huffed, "You're being reckless, Jinx." She only turned her attention back to the road in front of her, saying nothing more.

"Alright," Evie said a bit more upbeat, clasping her hands together. She straightened her back and turned her attention to the gears. The wind that poured through the room began to grow a bit chillier with the night, to which Evie's only thought was how nice it felt. It was a bit before she wondered if Elliot was bothered by it, but she didn't want to break the mechanic's focus by asking. "How far do you usually get?" She questioned, her voice soft.
