"I'd... Forgotten I said that- I mean, not like, I forgot, but..."

Arekkusu was having trouble finding his words, and let himself meet Dabi's eyes.

This time, when their eyes met, they did not turn away. Time didn't suddenly speed up.

Time slowed. Arekkusu knew Dabi was asking out of hope. He hadn't noticed before - not until now, but...

Maybe the feeling in his heart wasn't just nerves.

As Arekkusu looked into his eyes, it was different to every other time. He could tell he must have meant it - and the staring, the stuttering, everything became clear.

He moved in, and his eyes flicked down to Arekkusu's lips as if asking permission to kiss them. Arekkusu simply wrapped his arms around Dabi's neck and closed the gap.

So this was what love felt like.

As they pulled apart, both were panting. Arekkusu knew he had to go to school, but did he want to...?

Dabi spoke as if he had read his mind. "Go to school, Arekkusu. I'll be waiting for you."

He nodded and turned on his heel, blowing Dabi a kiss as he went.

Arekkusu started today the same way he spends most mornings. Being thrown out of his room by the tail and kicked in the ribs. After recovering from the usual beating and getting dressed into his uniform. He walked out the door. First stop, Dabi's, to grab his granola bars. He'd completely forgotten about what he had accidentally said last night. He walked up to the alleyway and knocked. Dabi opened, and blinked.

"Oh- Hey Arekkusu. Uh- Shouldn't you be at U.A?" He stuttered out. Weird... Dabi is usually more confident than this.

"I'm just here for those granola bars. Why are you so jittery this morning, are you okay?" He asked. he was concerned about his new friend.

"I'm... Fine. Just thinking."

"About what? I'll listen if you need."

Dabi took a breath. Arekkusu raised an eyebrow.

"Did you mean what you said when you left yesterday?"

After a few lengthy conversations with Dabi, talking about U.A and the plan that Dabi needed Arekkusu to carry out, or about family and their past, multiple tears had been shed, stomachs had flipped and hearts had skipped so many beats that it was a miracle they weren't dead. Each were thankful for the markings on their faces that obscured their blushes from view each time a sentence came out wrong or eyes met for a little too long. When Arekkusu decided to head home, he realised that he'd need to run to get there. He panicked and stood up.

"I really have to head home, I can't be late. I'll see you tomorrow afternoon with the results of who got in." He was already at the door, and Dabi had opened it for him. His mind was racing with panic, the knowledge that he needed to be home fast the cause. as he ran, he called out absentmindedly to Dabi.

"Bye Dabi! Love you!"

And he ran before either of them could figure out what he had just said.

Arekkusu took a deep breath and straightened his hair as he knocked on the door that Dabi had lead him through earlier. The door swung open and he was met with...

oh, wow.

Dabi was wearing his villain outfit - the one he had worn during his debut. Blue coat with stables on the sholders, and a white shirt that dipped down further than necessary - not like Arekkusu minded this. His blue eyes shone despite lack of light, and it made Arekkusu feel so strange.

"Come in. I've... cleaned a little bit so there's more room." His voice was a little less raspy, but just as deep and intimidating. Arekkusu followed him inside.

Dabi's stomach flipped as he opened the door. Arekkusu's usually messy hair seemed neater than usual, and it looked like he'd ran here. He grinned at the young boy, and he grinned back. He sighed and invited him in. What was this feeling...?

also Arekkusu has joined Dabi and they're going to plot things. also they both don't know what love is))

He raced down the empty streets, ready to tell Dabi about how well he did, and... why was he so excited to tell Dabi all this? He continued running, mind buzzing.

Dabi knew Arekkusu must have gotten his letter by now, and was cleaning his small room. He tucked various things away and even folded his clothes. He was making an effort to make the place clean for when he came over, though he could hardly pinpoint why.

Arekkusu pressed the button, and he watched a small screen appear. The screen spoke to him. Rewarded him on his incredible combat skills, and on how he had gotten in the top 5. His father scoffed. Maybe he had hoped for number one? Regardless, the projection congratulated him once more, and he grinned as he heard that he had gotten in. He sighed with relief, and he heard his parents walk away. The projection shut off.

"Hey, father? Since I got in, may I please go and train? I'd like to improve my skills." He maintained eye contact - he needed to keep his expression firm and gentle, yet his eyes determined and wanting.

His father sighed.

"Go on. Not like there's much else for you to do. Be back before 11, or you'll know how how villains feel after facing me."

He sighed. "Thank you. Bye Father. Bye mother."

He walked out the door, ready to see Dabi again.

Arekkusu had been in the basement for a while now, anxiously awaiting the shout of one of his parents to let him see his results. His mind had wandered back and forth between the students he'd met today, and meeting Dabi. The more he thought of him, the more he was confused by the strange feeling in his heart. He shook his head. It was probably just nervousness.

Dabi was sorting the papers on his desk - well, that's what he was meant to be doing. He was reading through Arekkusu's documents. This kid might be a little bit more messed up then he accounted for... but that just meant he was more likely to stay by his side... as a villainous team member, obviously. Not that Dabi could think of anything else he could be, even if this kid was a single year younger than him...

Sorting papers, right. Back to sorting papers.

He shut the door behind him and looked up at his fathers eyes. Cold and yellow, unforgiving and ruthless. The eyes he knew to fear.

"Well, well. You've failed to return home on time once again. Looks like you'll be going without dinner... Go to the basement, and don't come out until I say."

He winced, but nodded. "Yes, father." He turned to walk away, and heard his mother giggling as he walked away.

"Freakish little boy..."
