Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian grimaced. What was with that look on his face?...

His eyes widened, and he ran over to Miyako, fighting to get her hands off of Mika. "HEY! Hey! Stop that! Don't blame him! What's even going on here?"

He spotted the Monokumas. "...what the-- What even- are those things?"

He knew he shouldn't have been surprised at this point. Heck, their Headmaster had freaking brought them all up to space?!

Sawyer Laurens's POV

Sawyer gaaaasped. "Are the Monokumas playing some kinda game?! I WANT TO JOIN! I'm it!"

Darcy nudged Sawyer in the arm. "...no. Let's not."

Sawyer's face curled into a pout. "Whyyyy nooot?"

"Because they might be doing something dangerous for all we know! I wouldn't trust Monokuma's... clones."

He narrowed his eyes. Sawyer sighed. "Buuut they're so little! Just look at the little bears! How could they do anything wrong?"

"Those are robots, you idiot. Specifically bear robots," Darcy argued. Then it looked like for a moment, he felt bad for saying that...

Sawyer huffed. "You're no funnn..."

Darcy Harper's POV

Dear God.

What was even going on here?! Darcy didn't want to know. And why was... Miyako blaming Mika?

Darcy narrowed his eyes.

How... typical of her.

He shook his head. What had... spouted that thought? He didn't even know Miyako that well...

Besides, I might be worse.

Lucian Arbred's POV

Oh... So... he didn't leave.

Lucian was perplexed. He hadn't remembered walking across the bridge...

He found himself keeping his distance from Kubo, as he walked down the hall with him. He just...

. . .

Ugh...

Why did he bother?...

He knew he didn't like him. There was no way Kubo had ever liked him. No way he ever would like him.

. . .

But...

Why did... he...

Why did he adore him anyway?...

Lucian looked at what he'd written down.

"I like you. I think you're really smart, cool, and classy. I've never felt this way before. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to tell you. I love you."

"...how would... I even know that I love him? I've... never..." Lucian's face flushed. He tucked his notepad and pen back into his pocket.

"...hey. Kubo... thank you for... holding the button down for me."

I thought you'd leave.

That would have been nothing new...

Lucian Arbred's POV

"...Kubo?"

Oh... he'd... just left.

What had Lucian expected, anyway?

He doesn't love you.

He doesn't care about you.

He doesn't trust you, either. Of course he doesn't. He was just saying that.

You're just his therapist. Not even that.

He was right. You're nothing, Lucian.

N o t h i n g.

"Your life is just as valuable as the rest of the cretins here". Yeah, that, indeed. Nothing more.

It wasn't worth any more...

He was wrong. It was worth less.

And as Lucian stared at that button... he lingered there...

Wondering if he should reset the bridge...

And just jump.

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian looked relieved. The button had done what they thought it would.

"Interesting. So, basically, you need two people to go back and forth. It'd make it difficult to escape across... or chase someone."

Escape... from what? Chase someone?...

...

Lucian didn't like the sound of that. The whole thing made him shudder. It... just sounded like...

It sounded like murder.

"I'll head across first. There's a button on the other side- I'll hold it down so you can follow me, capiche?"

Lucian just nodded. I hope he'll be okay crossing alone...

"...be careful, okay?" he told Kubo. "...I don't want you to fall..."

He recalled the irritation in Kubo's voice earlier, and it made him grimace.

...he'd...

...been annoying him, hadn't he?

He'd just been being annoying. Not helpful.

No wonder Kubo ignored what he said...

I'm just bothering him. I bet he's just keeping me around so he doesn't have to go alone.

Lucian didn't want to think that to be true... but...

...why did he dare hope for anything? Of course Kubo didn't care about him.

...he may have trusted him, but he didn't care about him.

He wouldn't mind if Lucian just made the jump into that chasm...

He wouldn't mind, he wouldn't mind, he wouldn't mind.

Just another bloody corpse zipped up in a body bag.

All in a day's work, for the Ultimate Detective... wasn't it?

Kowai Kurai's POV

"I-I know, right?? Like... W-why would this even happen? Why us...? Why do we have to see people k-kill each other again?!"

Again?...

Oh, Mei. Oh, Mei, Mei, Mei.

Of course.

Something had shifted in Kowai's face a moment, but only a moment...

"Y-Yeah... I mean... Honestly!! How could anyone do this? To anybody?!" Her entire body shook violently, and she was shaking her head. She had plastered upon her face a look of disgust.

"S-same here, Kowai..."

Huh. For some reason, Kowai doubted that. But she smiled back at her.

"Aww, I'm flattered! I've been touchin' up on it lately, it makes me soooo happy that my hard work hasn't gone unnoticed! Guess I could say the same to you, eh? Funny little masquerade you had going on there!"

"Awwwwww, I'm glad to hear it! So have I. Thank you very much, how kind of you to have noticed!" She giggled quietly.

Of course, they never see it coming from such a childlike girl. Looking so small and innocent. But you have to know exactly how to shape yourself into what they might want to see.

If they looked underneath though, all they'd see is an empty husk. One hopelessly full of boredom. One without a single spark of life in her eyes or a single leap in her step. Except for one thing. Except for one person.

"Oh hoho, so you already knew? Aww, what a shame! I wanted to be as odd and mysterious as a certain student with an unknown talent, someone who went by the name... Kowai Kurai? Sound familiar? I wanna know more about you too, y'know!"

Kowai raised her eyebrows. She almost flinched at the mention of her unknown talent, but stopped herself. "Oh, trust me. You do seem odd and mysterious enough. You want to know more about me, hmm? Aww! That's touching! We're going to be great friends!" She clapped her hand together with a smile.

Right. Like I could trust her not to tell the whole school.

And if anyone knew of Kowai's talent, they'd know to avoid her like the plague. They'd know she was dangerous. They'd know that the moment someone turned their back, her fangs would sink into their neck, and they'd fall to the floor, writhing in pain, before they finally dropped dead. As she laughed quietly and maniacally behind them.

She was the girl who was born without a heart. Or, rather, she had a heart. But it was carved of ash and stone and broken glass. Broken promises, broken heart lockets. Two souls, torn at the half.

She'd tried to reach for him and beg him to stay, the only one who understood-

Who even knew where he was now?

"And... Let's just say... You've piqued my interest as well, now how funny is that! Guess we both caught each other's eye~"

"Ohhh, I have? How very interesting! I suppose we did!"

Kowai saw the way Mei stared at her, and returned her a sweet and innocent smile with unblinking eyes.

"Hmmm... Now how could you guess? I'm not a damn fool like all these people here, and you don't seem to be in the same boat as them... Interesting! Oh, and funny that you'd mention that..."

Ah, now THIS was a kindred spirit! Probably a bit of the impulsive type, to assume that everyone here were fools. Or perhaps she was just joking.

"Don't seem to be in the same boat as them… huh?" Kowai murmured, seemingly partially to herself.

"Ah, well, just a feeling, I suppose!" was all she told her.

But Mei Akamatsu…

Kowai recalled researching her before coming here. Such…

Suspicious, lacking files.

"Because I got the same feeling about you too~"

"Oh, is that so? Hehe! How comeee?"

"Betcha got a lifetime's worth of blood on those cold fingers of yours, -please take them off of me i don't appreciate being touched >:(- guess we're not so different after all~"

Kowai looked at her very strangely. "Ohhh. What makes you think that?" A certain dryness entered her voice, and a stone-cold look upon her face. Yeah, no. She didn't need her blathering about that either. "Ohhh, alright! Sorry! Didn't mean to upset you!" She took her hands off Mei's shoulders.

That, was of course, a lie. Kowai very often touched people just to freak them out. "So… who'd you kill?" she asked with a certain curiosity on her face, and a strange feel to her voice.

"I like your funny words, magic man. Count. Me. IN!"

Kowai looked as though she seemed to remember something. "Magic Man…" Why did she feel like she knew someone by that name? Someone… forgettable?

Kowai grinned and rapidly fist-bumped Mei's hand. "Great! …absolutely great."

Kowai gazed thoughtfully around the room. Full of toys, full of untrained animals ready to be used for a circus. All a bunch of pitiful fools.

This world would belong to her. It was game on.

She really didn't think she trusted Mei. At all. They were both too much alike.

Especially since Mei seemed like someone… impulsive? That could make her more dangerous. And also, possibly, foolish as well… but she seemed to have something of a calculating mind.

She mused thoughtfully to herself, about whether she should reveal her true talent to Mei. Perhaps she could just keep it secret. Or tell a lie. A lie that seemed dark enough to be the truth. Without being the truth.

…never the truth. Never again.

Gold was fake but gold was her own, gold was cold but it made a good throne.

A good, lonely throne.

Kowai stared down at the locket around her neck.

…she recalled how its match had been thrown and smashed into pieces.

It was funny how so-called heroes… left you when you needed them most.

But I still miss him.

I hate him. I hope he's dead.

Dorky Monroe's POV

Oh wow! The person responded!!

"Uh... Hey... There, I guess..."

"Heyyy!" Dorky exclaimed, smiling eagerly at them.

"I'm... Daiko, Daiko... Ukatara. And uh... I guess people call me the "Ultimate Archer" or some s**t, I dunno..."

Dorky Monroe reached out his hand. "Wowww! Nice to meet you! I love your rings, they're super cool- ah, um, Archer. Wowow. Funny word! You shoot arrows? I always wanted to learn to do that! And Daiko Ukatara. Such. A cool. Name!"

Dorky cleared his throat, putting his other hand over his mouth. "Sorry, sorry. Getting a little too excited. Am I… bothering you?"

"...I mean he looks cool and all, but... I dunno, I... I didn't really get to see him much..."

Dorky scraped his foot back and forth against the floor. Wow. The floor was real! "Yeah, I- guess I get that! What with being on the floor dimension and all. Do you… wanna talk about leafy deer aliens?"

Way to go, Dorky, totally nailing the human socialization thingy.

Lucian Arbred's POV

"I'm pretty confident it'll lower the bridge for us. It's helpfully unlabelled, but I don't think Monokuma wants one of us to go splat just yet. So."

I guess that makes sense...

"Sorry, I just thought we should be-"

He was interrupted by Kubo poking him. He went completely still, his face going red.

"You going to press it or not?"

"OF COURSE! SURE! For you, anything!" Lucian laughed nervously. His eyes widened, and he cleared his throat. "S-Sorry! I don't- know why that came out. Must be the lack of oxygen in here. I-I'm not thinking straight."

Taking deep breaths, he pushed the button.

Lucian Arbred's POV

". . ." Lucian found himself taking a final look down, before finding the button in question Kubo was talking about.

I could jump down there. Right now.

...

Everyone could be saved.

...maybe.

And all it would cost was one insignificant man's life. One who had always been a disappointment. ...always been weak. Always been a coward. Always been... not enough.

But Kubo hadn't said a thing about the matter...

And it left Lucian wondering...

Maybe... it would help him. Maybe it would help everyone. But he doesn't want to admit it.

"Looks like I found a button. You want to hold it down?"

Lucian frowned. "...well. Of course. If you need me to." He bit his lip. "...but, Kubo. Do we even know what thing does? If you want me to hold it down, I will. But I- don't want to risk-- getting anyone killed."

Something about Lucian's tone said that he wouldn't mind if it had been him.

...It would all be over soon.

It's... not like anyone here really needed him, did they?

Darcy Harper's POV

"I... Yeah. I didn't do it. You're right, Sawyer."

They had it right all along, didn't they? If you just thought it hard enough, you could convince yourself of anything. Why feel guilty about things, when there wasn't much you could do about them? Why not...

You didn't do it in the first place, right? It was a silly thought in the first place.

But Darcy felt like he just knew... Somewhere out there, God was tapping the pen, preparing to judge him.

. . .

I'm not a bad person.

Mei's words echoed in his head. "Maybe if.you say that enough times then God will actually start to believe it."

. . .

"I'm not a bad person," he murmured. "I'm a GOOD person. I didn't do anything wrong."

Sawyer beamed. "Yes! Exactly! Don't worry, Dace. I'm sure it wasn't your fault."

Darcy smiled at Sawyer. "Yeah... You're right. You're absolutely right..."

I wish there was something I could do. I wish I didn't feel so helpless.

But this...

Wait.

This could be how I do it.

I know people will really love me then.

I know... He'll really love me then.

Darcy breathed a sigh of relief. It didn't happen. There, it was that simple...

"Hey, Darcy? Heardja talked to Mei. How'd that go?"

Sawyer Laurens's POV

Darcy winced.

"Great. It went GREAT! We just... Sort of, talked about things. Philosophized about our beliefs. Taught each other a lot."

Sawyer siiiiighed. "I don't want to pry, Darcy, but I want to know moreee!"

Darcy coughed. "W-Well, I--- wanted to check she was okay. And... We wound up having some... Pretty interesting deep conversations. About life. And whatnot."

Sawyer nodded. "Okay, I guess you don't want to talk about it? That's fine, too. I talked to Idris! It seems like we really get each other! OH! BY THE WAY! I asked 'im if he wanted to hang out with us!"

Sawyer waved their arms excitedly. Darcy's eyes widened. "Oh, you- did? That's cool!"

"Yep! I even suggested that he could bring Mei!"

Upon hearing Mei's name, something in Darcy's face changed.

"Hey, Sawyer... Do you want to explore the ship some more together?"

Sawyer beamed. "AAAAA!! SURE!"

They immediately took Darcy by the hand. "Let's goooo!"

Darcy's face flushed as Sawyer took his hand, but Sawyer of course, didn't notice.

The two of them headed off to investigate the ship.

I really miss them sometimes. How long has it been.... Since I last saw...

The door slammed shut again. Nothing to be seen.

Darcy Harper's POV

Ah, jeez. Why was he like this? Why was it when Sawyer did it that--

Darcy sighed. If there was one thing he was grateful for... It was to be here with them.

Here with... A friend, who you could trust.

Kowai Kurai's POV

"T-The bear robot thing?! Monokuma?! W-what the hell is goin' on here?! Why would he want to make us k-"

Yeah. REAL mystery. I wonder what's going on there.

She watched Mei quiver in fear, and she shuddered right along with her.

"Kill each other?! Oh god... Who would even do such a thing?!"

"Yeah, I KNOWWW! What kind- kind of horrible person would do that? Hurting people... Oh, that's honestly the worst..."

"I-It can't be serious, r-right? There's no way in hell someone would do something like this! A-and I can't even imagine the thought of someone dying! That's just... That's just f**ked up!"

Kowai shook all over. "I agree! I-I mean... Who would- actually put this whole thing together?! I can't imagine seeing someone die! Not again..." Kowai let out a sniffle, and tears stirred up in her eyes. She'd developed a natural ability for faking tears over the years.

Especially when HE- would-

So, so many bodies. Reduced to piles of ashes.

"Y-Yeah, I'm Mei... Nice to meet you, Kowai..."

Kowai smiled. "Nice to meet you too, Mei! I-I'm glad we're on the same page about all this! I'm so happy to know that you wouldn't kill anyone!"

She would. I bet she would. Something about the look in her eyes.

"I-I don't want to die..."

"Awww, m-me neither... I can't imagine this all coming to a close..."

I couldn't care less. I stopped caring long ago. Some "hero" you turned out to be.

Kowai put her hand on Mei's shoulder. "Buuuut-, okay, anyway!" she said with a chrip, her face suddenly popping into a smiley formation. "Enough playing around! That was a very interesting act you had going on there! Real Poker Face, huuuh, Ultimate Gambler? Look. I came to talk to you because... I had a feeling about you. And you've just confirmed my suspicions. You're not like these people here, are you? You have plenty of blood on your hands. And not much going for you in your life, heyyy? What do you say we have some fun here, you and I?"

There was merely that faintly off smile on her face as she spoke, and to an outside observer, what she whispered wouldn't have seemed anything to gawk at.

And if she dares try anything, I paint the floor with her guts! Either works!

Mika Uyehara's POV

"I'mmm... Uhhhh, gonna go... Explore. This place," Mika told Dorky. He looked him up and down. "A-Are you- uhhh, coming?"

Dorky seemed to hesitate a moment. "Ahhh, well..." He tapped his knees together and fiddled with his fingers. "I'd- love to, Mika! But... I'd like to introduce myself to some other people here. Too."

Mika felt a little upset for a reason he couldn't fathom. "O-Oh... Okay."

And so, the Ultimate Weapons Specialist took to exploring the school. He decided he might try to find a library.

Dorky Monroe's POV

Unfortunately for Daiko, Dorky's internal game of "Eenie-meenie-minie-mo" led to the picking of her. He headed on over.

"Umm, ummmmmmmm- HEYYY! Hey there! I'm Dorky. Monroe. Dorky Monroe. Ultimate Lyricist. You'd really think the bear here would have a more creative design, huh? It's got a sort of... Yin-Yang thing going on. Kinda, which I think is cool! Anyway, h-hey!"

He smiled at Daiko and held out a hand.

Sawyer Laurens's POV

"I'll think about it."

Sawyer felt a tad curious about what had caused Idris's slight pause. His slight hesitation.

"Aww, okay! I totally get that! Have fun exploring the ship! I think I'll go look for Darcy, okay? Keep an eye out to make sure no one's faking tasks or venting or any of that stuff!" they chirped.

Before they scurried off, they waved at Mei. "Ohhh! Hi, Mei! I see it's your friend! Have fun with her, Idris!"

This was all so fun! It was all so much fun!!

A garden, full of flowers. Dang it. Had Sawyer forgotten to water them again? It looked like they were starting to wither now.

The watering can was empty. They taped the petals back on.

The flowers weren't dying. Were they?

No, they weren't!

Of course they weren't.

Why would they be?

...everything was going to be okay.

Sawyer didn't like that story. Scribble it out. Put up a new sticky note. Smiley stickers!

Everything WAS okay.

Darcy Harper's POV

Darcy Harper slunk down against the wall. He sat down, and wept. He wept and wept... He wept for what he did. He wept for what he didn't do. He--

"Darcy?"

That voice. That voice brought him back again.

"Found youuuu! Jeez, you always liked hiding in the dark corners in Hide and Seek. Don't you know there are cleverer hiding spots than that?"

"SAWYER. You once- you once hid in a washing machine!"

"Well, it took a while for someone to find me, didn't it?'

Darcy couldn't help but smile. "...you idiot."

Sawyer sat down next to Darcy. "You okay, Dace? How are you finding this place?"

"I'm... Fine. It's just... I did..."

Did something.

...

"n't- do something," he finished. "But I feel like I did. I feel like it's my fault."

"Well, if you say you didn't do it, you didn't do it, right?"

Oh, Sawyer.

If only that were true.

And as Darcy had looked into Mei's eyes, he saw the reflection of the coward that they both knew, and hated.

"If I don't go to hell when I die, I might go to heaven!
Might go to heaven!
If I don't go to hell when I die, I might go to heaven!
Might go to heaven! -- but probably not!"

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai watched Mei Akamatsu with a certain curiosity, but did her best not to let it leak into her voice. The last thing you wanted to do was show weakness. Show emotion. Show vulnerability.

Oh, but Kowai didn't have any emotion to show, did she?...

Did she?

"...Did you... Didja say... K-Killing game...?"

"Noooo, but, the bear robot thing did! J-Jeez... I can't believe he expects us to do this!"

"Y-Yeah that's scary! What the hell?!"

"I-It ISSS! It really is!" Kowai began to shake. "Oh, gosh! You don't suppose it's actually serious, is it? Because honestly. It would really be awful if someone had to die!"

Oh, yes. It really WOULD be awful.

"Mei Akamatsu, right? You look like a Mei. I'm Kowai Kurai." She tugged at her own hair as she looked at her. She would maintain eye contact, but her eyes always seemed to shift just a little bit as she did so.

"This really is such a crazy ordeal..."

Title: (POST W.I.P. LMAO)

Monokuma The Awesome Handsome Headmaster's POV

"Weeeeell, anyway, kiddos! Enjoy getting to know each other! And then killing each other in various gruesome ways! Upupu! Bear well!"

Sure, maybe they wouldn't feel the pressure to kill anyone now. But if they didn't, ohhhh, Monokuma had some tricks up his nonexistent sleeves for them!

He disappeared into thin air, leaving a gym full of shocked and puzzled teenagers.

Dorky Monroe's POV

Dorky had already pulled out a notepad and pencil and scribbled out some lyrics about the event that had occurred. Honestly? He couldn't help it, he'd never been in such an interesting situation before!!

There were so many fascinating human beings here. Like ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS! Sureee, he'd very rarely spoken to kids his age, but teens were probably into the same things he was into! Like literally EVERYTHING! Dorky tried not to squeal right out loud. He did little hand gestures to himself. "Okay, you can do this, Dorky. Just use your mouth- to say words- that makes friendships happen!"

His eyes brightened upon noticing the boy who had just faceplanted onto the floor. Wow. Faceplanting. That was so cool!

He was also kinda grumpy for some reason, and Dorky was curious what he was so miserable about. Could it be a secret tragic backstory?! Dorky LOVED backstories, he wrote them for his own characters all the time!! Yes, he... He was the Ultimate Lyricist but he was also a storywriter and poetry writer and whatnot, kinda. Not that he was any good, but, haha, y'know!!

He headed over to the boy and took his hand, attempting to help him up. "H-Heyyyy, ummm, you okay?"

The boy groaned and reluctantly accepted Dorky's hand after a moment of hesitation, and Dorky helped him to stand up.

"Wow! You look, super cool, by the way! I like your hoodie! A-And your hair? IT'S LIKE A FLUFFY FORTRESS! I'm Dorky Monroe, the Ultimate Lyricist, and I totally love your whole annoyed faceplanting deal! Hi!"

Mika stared at Dorky with wide eyes, blinking rapidly.

Mika Uyehara's POV

WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK IS HAPPENING

This boy had helped him up, and said he looked super cool, and-- that he liked his hoodie and his hair, and-- what the hell was a fluffy fortress supposed to mean?! Annoyed faceplanting deal?

Mika's face flushed. This was sure unusual. Someone had freaking just gone up to him and started complimenting him, and he had... No idea what to say.

"Uhhhhh-... Ummmm... Thanks." Great job. Great job.

Dorky Monroe, huh? Like... Marilyn Monroe? And... What kind of first name was "Dorky"? It was unique, that was for sure.

Dorky beamed at him. "No problem! Y-You know!! I think we should totally be friends! What's your name?"

FRIENDS?! FRIENDS???

IN A MURDER SCHOOL SITUATION, THAT WAS HIS FIRST TH-

It was almost endearing how naïve he was.

Mika looked away. "Mika Uyehara... Ultimate..." He recalled what the bear had said earlier, and he let out a huff. "Ultimate Weapons Specialist."

Dorky gasped. "Really?! That's so cool!! Do you have like, a collection of sorts? Can I see? I love sharp things! My sister used to chase me with knives jokingly all the time!"

...what.

"I might, I might not..." But he saw the hopeful look in Dorky's eyes, and sighed. "Sure... You can see."

Dorky squealed and hugged Mika on impulse. "AAA! Thank youuuu, THANK YOU! And I can show you some of my songs I've written!! I wrote one just now, actually! You know..." Dorky paused. "Ummm, your- name! Mika, it reminds me of my old Club Penguin account. Kinda cool, if you ask me! Gosh... I miss Club Penguin..."

Mika's face reddened further. Help me.

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai assessed the room. She made sure to make herself look sad and worried as hell, since that was what she was going for, right?

She began to ponder what to do first. You always had to be steady and careful, nice and cautious. Don't let them see what's underneath.

Most people hadn't revealed much about themselves yet. Except for one person in particular, namely, Dorky Monroe. The Ultimate Lyricist.

Kowai would have laughed under her breath, but she kept her facial expression set. She had more self-control than that.

The boy was so childishly naïve and optimistic. The perfect target for manipulation.

Everyone else, for the most part, seemed so quiet. No one seemed to dare want to make a move.

And yet, Kowai found her eyes fixing on a purple-haired girl lying upon the floor, with a certain curiosity.

She looked a lot like him, really... And it made her want to kill her.

But she wouldn't be so hasty.

She headed right up to her. "Hello, there... This whole thing, it's so scary, isn't it? I can't believe we're all going to have to kill each other..." She clutched her hands tightly to her chest, her eyes wide with fear and horror. But there was no real emotion in those dead eyes.

Kowai hesitated to introduce herself, with a spark of curiosity in her mind. To lie, about her talent, to say something not precisely true or not precisely false? That was the question...

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian Arbred glanced around at the people surrounding him, and tugged at his scarf. He sighed quietly to himself.

Partially, he wanted to just keep to himself. Not make himself an easy target. But... Maybe he would be needed here. Maybe any possible murders could be prevented.

Of course, no one here would just kill an almost perfect stranger... Right?

Almost everyone seemed... Cautious. Reluctant. Uptight. Just like back home, wasn't it?

And Lucian couldn't help but wonder... Should he make a move, or not risk getting involved?

But Lucian Arbred was a prioritizer of the needs of the group. He wasn't what mattered.

He wasn't going to just approach someone, though. If they all seemed this uncomfortable.

...maybe he could try to put them at ease?

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume spotted a certain boy, who seemed to be glancing around. There was something about his eyes...

No, that was a ridiculous thought. Suzume shook her head.

But for some reason or other, she felt compelled to approach him. Oh, well. It couldn't hurt, could it?

"Salutations. My name is Suzume Fujimori, the Ultimate Scientist. This is pretty crazy, isn't it? I'm still not completely convinced we aren't all under some sort of group narcotic influence. Maybe we're all in an asylum, and have completely lost it."

The thought may not have been realistic, but it amused Suzume nonetheless. To think someone had actually trapped them all here, and was forcing them to kill each other... She frowned. Who? Why? What were they aiming for?

Well. Suzume knew one thing. She wasn't going to die here. She was a survivor. She always found a way, no matter what she had to resort to.

No matter what she had to resort to...

Because that was what scientists did. They never gave up, until they found the answer.

"Lucian Arbred, the Ultimate Therapist," he replied. "...I'm not sure, really. But, I think we all need to stay calm."

Suzume nodded. "Pleasure to meet you, Lucian. A therapist, huh? Like a science of the mind. And, well, yes, quite obviously, we all need to stay calm. I mean, who here would honestly just go off and kill some stranger? It'll only happen if we actually let all the pressure get to us."

I wonder what it's like... To directly kill someone. Rather than to have her looking you in the eyes, with those eyes that KNEW. Those eyes... That knew you'd crushed her dream.

Sawyer Laurens's POV

"...no. I like space....it's just...things have gotten complicated between-"

Sawyer blinked curiously. "But, well, y'know. I like space too! I'm upset we're all cramped up in here, insteada seeing the stars!"

But then...

Sawyer saw the change in his face.

"...thank you Sawyer. Genuinely."

Sawyer beamed brightly at Idris. "Of course! How could I not help a friend out?"

"Yeah....they do."

"Yeahhhh." Sawyer sighed. "But maybe someday they can see, that things are a lot better than they make them out to be! You wanna explore this ship together?" they asked. "Darcy... Kinda... Thought we should stay together. OH! Maybe we could all hang out together?"

They grinned at him. "What do you think, Idris?"

(Darcy, meanwhile, was having existential crises and painful revelations.)

Sawyer Laurens's POV

Sawyer sighed. "Heyyy, friend. You okay? You look... Upset. Am I bothering you, ooor, is it the whole deal of this place?"

Ah, gah, dreams were sure unpredictable! Kinda like the stars.

...

Sawyer wanted to check out the windows! Ooh, maybe they could break out of this place and drift through space! This wasn't real, after all. So it didn't matter, right?

"It kinda sucks we're stuck on this ship, amIright? Like look at that, out there! All those places, where no man has ever gone before! That we could be exploring! Discovering!" Sawyer made emphatic motions with their hands, a beam upon their face. "If that's the whole reason you're down, I totally get it, Idris! You know..."

They paused. Suddenly, something in their face cracked as they thought about the stars outside. They looked at Idris with a strange expression on their face.

"Funny game Monokuma is playing, huh? Wifekuma's an awfully nice girl! Her and her little jokes about... Pffffft. Secrets! You know, things that didn't happen. Making molehills out to be mountains, when nothing bad happened at all! Because that wasn't real, I KNOW it wasn't real!" Their face turned into a pout.

"All the sad stuff isn't real. People just wind up thinking it is and feel all unhappy. But they need to know that, y'know, rain is pretty cool!! And it makes rainbows, and flowers grow, and you can dance in it! And... And when it's dark, there are stars and..."

Such a big deal. Over something that never happened.

The tombstones...

The door creaked open, and Sawyer slammed it shut. But there was still bangi-

What door? Sakura-sensei was right here.

"What I'm saying is, people worry about stuff that never happens. And always make situations out to be worse than they are. But you're okay, Idris! You're okay! Because I'm with you!" They smiled warmly at him. "And I can be there to remind you how amazing everything actually is! Some people just... Refuse to see it! Y'know?"

Darcy Harper's POV

"Spared them? Spared them? Wow, Darcy, you're hilarious! If I spared them, that would be going back on my word! I promised them death, and they thought they could avoid it. I only gave them what they wanted! Besides, I'm not a coward, Darcy. I keep my promises!"

"Maybe you're not a coward. But you sure were a terrible person, weren't you?"

"...Lookin' forward to it"

"You can try and try, but my poison will always find its way out of my hands, and there will be nothing you or I can do to stop it."

Darcy went silent for a moment. "Nothing… that "you or I" can do to stop it…?" Mei… wanted to stop it?

Suddenly, he felt his eyebrows unfurrowing.

"Can't wait to see it Darcy, and I bet you can't either!~"

"No. I… I don't want that to happen."

Suddenly, he didn't feel angry anymore.

"Oh shut up Darcy, Sawyer cares. Is that not enough for you? At least most of the people here see you in a positive light, right? Is that really not enough? Good grief..."

"Most of them… do? Mei… most of them don't even know I exist. And, hardly care either." He bit his lip. "It… it doesn't matter. Maybe I– was just thinking about-"

He stopped. Why was it… why was it always like that?

"No. You're right. It is good enough. I'm fine. Everything's fine."

"Ok, and? You're probably right, I might not give a damn about you, but I say s**t like this to everyone, you're not the exception. I wouldn't care if anyone dropped dead, honestly."

Darcy winced. Yeah. Of course she didn't. But… he couldn't feel angry anymore. He didn't have it in him anymore. All he felt… was a lingering pity.

"You wouldn't care if anyone dropped dead, Mei?... You and Sawyer… you're not that different, when I think about it."

His eyelids fluttered, and he stared up at the ceiling. "You're not quite so different, when I think about it…"

"Woah woah woah, I don't know who the hell Will is, but you can't just say s**t like that!"

…now… HE couldn't just say things a certain way?

Darcy wasn't mad, but…

"Ah. Your rules, isn't it? What's the game, Mei?" he asked, blinking. "Is it a game of love and loss, of sacrifices that go nowhere? And you're left sitting with people… people who…"

He stopped speaking.

Had he known?...

"...I wouldn't dare try that, Darcy. I don't have as big as an ego as you think I do so drop it. You don't know jack s**t."

"And who's to say I haven't done that already, huh... Many of my victims had children, y'know, and I've stolen a few lollipops from babies..."

"You sure are a funny, inconsistent creature," he murmured. "Just who are you, even? It almost feels like you lost sight of that a long time ago. You're just an actress… playing parts for everyone. You laugh and smile, and mean none of it. You cry and bleed… and mean none of it. Or you mean all of it. No one knows where the truth lies in you."

…Children. They had… children.

A sadness took over Darcy. I ruined that, too, didn't I? All that could have been…

"I'm sorry, Mei. I… I shouldn't have said anything. I've said nothing but hurtful things to you this entire time, and– you were just trying to help me. In your own way."

Darcy didn't hate her. Not really.

He hated how she acted.

…and that wasn't her, was it?

He bit his tongue.

Who knew?

But all he knew… was that he was overwhelmed with pity for her.

He… felt sorry for Mei. He felt like she had lost what it was to be human. If she ever had it.

She wasn't a demon, she was just a lost, poor unfortunate soul.

Dorky Monroe's POV

Dorky turned in Serendibite's direction, paling. Which was saying something, he was pale as hell already.

Oh, great Aubrey.

SEREND WAS HERE?!

...and here I thought I'd finally get away from teasing, judgmental people. His face reddened. He did NOT need to be here with the person who knew about his love poems for Aubrey from OMORI!!

He slowly did finger-guns. "Heeeeeeey, Serend. How are you on this fine sweet summer child day?" he asked, laughing nervously.

"...will someone please tell me what's going on here," the lab coat girl muttered.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

Suzume pressed two fingers to her face. Was this all some strange dream? She didn't know, but what she did know was that she was SO, so done with all this.

"Is our Headmaster going to come out and greet us already? This is so unprofessional..."

"AS A MATTER OF FACT, MISS FUJIMORI, I AM YOUR HEADMASTER!" Monokuma shouted. "And I will be listened to and taken seriously, or I'll shove marshmallows up you guys' ears!"

"...that... Actually sounds kinda fascinating as a threat, honestly?" Dorky stated, blinking.

"SILENCE OR I'LL BONK YOU AGAIN!"

Dorky sighed.

"YOU'RE our Headmaster?" Suzume tried not to laugh. "So Hope's Peak has a robotic bear for a headmaster?"

"YES, AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT DOES!! NOW LISTEN UP, KIDDINS!"

Monokuma's POV

"You all don't know diddly-dat about squaddly-squat! Luckily, I, Monokuma, your handsome and brilliant Headmaster, who no Build-A-Bear knockoff would ever want to divorce, and the greatest father of all time, who once left his kids at the top of a mountain and let them fight to see who would make it off alive-" He adjusted a nonexistent bowtie. "Am here to teach you! You are all here for a one-of-a-kind, totally not stolen from multiple people and put onto a Pokémon website, Killing Game! Ahem. One of you fine folks is gonna have to kill each other! Bang-bang! Hehe! Orrrrr you're all trapped here forever!"

Dorky blinked. "A... Killing Game? Whoa, this is almost like one of my favorite video games, with truth bullets and investigations and--"

Monokuma slammed down a mallet he pulled out of nowhere. "SILENCE IN THE COURT!"

"A... Killing Game? With... All due respect, which is none, Monokuma, sir. This is a gym."

Dorky beamed at Suzume. "...oh my gosh. I love her already." Suzume pretended not to hear Dorky's remark.

Mika groaned. "O-Oh... Uhhh... Great. This is- a joke, right?"

"Nope!~" Monokuma chirped. "Ahhhh, and I imagine youuuu might make a great killer, with your talent, hmmm?~"

Mika glared at the bear in silence. "...I wish I could disassemble him. Right now."

"HEYY! HANDS OFF THE SCHOOL PROPERTY! JEEZ!" Monokuma put his paws on his hips.

Dorky laughed nervously. "...this... Isn't real, is it? I mean, this is cool and all, but... I don't want to watch people die. I wonder what a dead body looks like..."

"It is, Dorky Monroe! 100 purrrrrcent!" Monokuma replied, button eye shining.

"Ohhhh, NOOOO! Not a Killing Game!" Kowai whimpered. "Th-This is horrible! I can't believe this!" She burst into tears, and Lucian looked as though he couldn't help but wonder if her reaction was genuine or not. Lucian bit his lip.

"...is this..... Some sort of test? You wouldn't actually get teenagers to kill one another, would you?" Lucian asked with a frown.

"Aaaa, ahahah- nope! Totally would!" Monokuma cackled. Lucian winced. "...I should have known..."

Monokuma turned to the student who had asked to go the f*** home. "Nopes! Nosiree! No can do! Sorry, kiddinnnnn, but you're only going home if you get someone zipped up tight in a body bag!~"

Suzume frowned. "...is this even legal?"

"Yep! My laws! Courtroom, rememberrrr?"

Mika immediately faceplanted onto the floor with a groan.

Lucian was now praying to a God he may-or-may-not-believe-in due to his being agnostic.

Dorky Monroe's POV

"So, teach and tell me
Teach and tell me
The way these things work out
Is someone else in me?
Just waiting to break free?
The world keeps twisting – still it's twisting without an end in sight
You laugh and smile at me, but you don't see a thing"

A black-and-white robotic bear waved his arms with a shout. "Upupuuuu!~ Rise and shine, rise and shine! My dear students! Come onnn! I've got a ton of kids I gotta drive to Axing Classes, and a divorce to try to talk my wife out of, I don't have all dayyyy!"

Dorky, the probable deuteragonist of this story, due to his lack of social skills, and given his semi-prominent ahoge, woke up with a groan. Why did his head hurt so much? Ah, it was probably the lack of water he'd ingested lately. He blinked awake inside... whoa. This was odd. He didn't usually faint, had he ingested Peace Tea recently? And there was a monochromatic... robotic bear, screaming at everybody?

Okay. Maybe this was another one of Dorky's whacky Happy Meal Care Bears dreams again.

Why had he used that phrase to refer to it? Idk man, random, XD. Bananas.

"U-Um... h-hello, bear. Nice to meet you. Am I... dreaming this, or?"

No, wait. Scratch that. Dorky Monroe wasn't usually able to speak or move inside of his dreams. Aaand, actually, they were usually a lot whackier than this.

"A-Also, question. Do you... talk your wife out of divorcing you all the time, orrr?"

Monokuma bonked Dorky on the head. "HEY! NO, I DON'T!! And no intrusive questions! And no, you're not dreaming this! Jeez, are they all as stupid as him?"

Dorky winced. Okay, wow. He was used to getting insulted, but somehow it hurt even more when it was by a maniacal, clearly insane monochromatic bear.

"Can... I pet you?" Dorky asked, not sure how to respond to this.

Suzume Fujimori's POV

A very annoyed scientist awoke. She blinked, and saw a monochromatic bear in the room.

"Oh, no," she muttered. "I do believe I'm on drugs."

Monokuma groaned and shook his head. "Why does everyone think thaaaat?"

Suzume ignored him. She looked about the room. It seemed these other people, whoever they were... fellow Ultimates, maybe?... were slowly waking up around her. Assuming this was all real.

Were they... inside Hope's Peak Academy? Why had they all collapsed on the gymnasium floor?

And why was there this deranged robotic bear talking to them? Maybe only she could see him.

Oh, wait, no. There was this dork in glasses asking to f**king pet the thing. The hell?

"I wouldn't advise that. It's probably not very pleasant to pet, and it might kill you if you try."

"DAMN RIGHT I WILL!" Monokuma exclaimed, stomping his foot. "Honestly! Learn to behave!"

The dork in round glasses let out a whimper. "Just oooonce, please?"

He spotted Suzume, and his eyes brightened. "WHOA! Is that a labcoat?! I've- I've always wanted one of those!" He started waving his hands around, and Suzume held up a hand.

"Stop. Stopstopstop. Can we just wait for everyone to wake up for five minutes?"

Kowai Kurai's POV

Kowai Kurai awoke, beaming with those empty eyes, the color of dried blood. She let out a yaaaaawn. "Ohhhh, hiii, bear-bot thingy! Is it just me, or..."

Wow, he looks familiar, somehow.

"Gosh, how'd we all get here? This is weird!"

And surprisingly, NOT my fault! ...probably.

Suzume shrugged. "Don't ask me, ask the monochromatic maniac I hoped I was hallucinating."

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian blinked his eyes open. Oh, no. What was he doing here?

Let me guess, I'm being ransomed. Again.

Well, he wasn't completely wrong, now, was he?

He looked around and he saw there were... a lot of other people in the room with him. Who had all apparently collapsed on the floor. There was this one boy who looked way too hyper, excited, and nervous all at the same time, and who couldn't seem to stop moving.

There was this girl with... a curious and slightly unnerving smile.

And someone in glasses who looked completely done with this sh*t.

Aaaand... a girl on the floor, who seemed to be just waking up now.

...and countless others, strewn throughout the room, who hadn't yet awoken.

Lucian sighed. What was going on here? Were they all inside Hope's Peak Academy?

He could only hope that nothing bad was happening.

Mika Uyehara's POV

Mika Uyehara awoke with a start, to see a robotic bear in front of him. He couldn't help but wonder what the thing's machinery looked like on the inside.

...oh. And it could talk, too?

Was this real? Bears couldn't talk. I mean, robotic bears could.

And here he was, in a room of... people. People. Great.

Darcy Harper's POV

"Oh Darcy... I had more than just heads chopped off... Thousands of deathly needles were used, some were burned at stakes, some of them have a bullet in their head, some of them. . ."

Darcy's eyes widened.

My God.

How could... anyone be so cruel?

A low growl rose in Darcy's throat. "...you really are truly evil, aren't you?"

Pure. Evil.

Pure, unsolicited evil.

"Hey, they signed the contract, not me. They knew what they were talking into, and they chose to risk their lives in the stupidest way possible. I only gave them the gun, they pulled the trigger."

Darcy glared angrily. "...you could've spared them. You could've spared them, and yet you chose not to. I don't care what they agreed to, Mei. What did they do that made them deserve that?"

"But you're right about being arrogant, arrogant is me, and I am arrogant~"

Darcy gritted his teeth so hard he thought they'd break. Of course. Of course she was. The little--

"DING DING DING! Wow Darcy, you're soooooo good at this, you're on your way to winning the grand prize! Hehe, was it really that obvious? Me bein' a little demon?"

"...Then I guess I better prepare for an exorcism then," he replied completely seriously. "To protect everyone here from the likes of YOU and the poison you'll spike into their minds."

...only one problem. There was no priest here. And Darcy couldn't qualify himself as one...

"...Not half as bad as me, ay? Hmmm... You could be right about that, but at least I'm not dead."

"...better to be dead than to have become a loathsome monster."

"And if I was like her... I would be, now wouldn't I? If I was more like Kaoru, I'd be weak and stupid, and I'd be in Monokuma's noose~"

"KAORU WAS NOT WEAK AND STUPID!" Darcy shouted. "I may not have known him, but MAYBE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD THING, huh? Monokuma would've sent you back where you'd come from. And that- that... wouldn't have been murder."

...an execution for the executioner. How fitting.

...but something in Darcy flinched. Something in him didn't mean it.

...as much as he loathed this person. This... DEMON.

"DING DING DING, rrrrrrrIIIGHT AGAIN! Geez Darcy, you're so smart! Maybe you do know a thing or two about me!"

"Yup, I do it aaaalllll the time, gotta strike a little fear into everyone, don't I? Beesssiiiideees, it's fun! Not much to it, really!"

"NO, YOU DON'T NEED TO! And how the HELL is that fun?" He crossed his arms tightly, tighter and tighter.

Go away. GO THE HELL AWAY.

"Pffttt, whaaaaaattt? Little servant? You got the wrong idea, Darcy, I'd at least have the decency to pay you while I forced you to make me some! We're buddies aren't we? We'd do anything for each other!" She giggled yet again, all while spewing random bull that she never really meant.

"Whaaatttt? Like I said Darcy, BUDDIES! B-U-D-D-I-E-S! Got that? Buddies care about each other, don't they? And..."

"...pay me? What, do you have money here? Some kind of... hellish currency of your own? Or did you find yourself some normal money to blend in among people? ...Buddies."

Darcy narrowed his eyes. "...buddies are people like Sawyer. You don't care about me. I know you don't. There's... there's..."

He faltered, trying to stop the tears. "...there's no way you care about me. People don't do that."

"Pretty rude of you to forget about your real buddy, Sawyer over there, isn't it? Do you really doubt them that much, to where you don't even think they'll miss you? Pfft, yeah, sure they'll think it's all a dream or some bulls**t, but don't you think they'll eventually realize? Geez Darcy..."

His eyes widened. "I- I... It's not about doubting them! It's... just... how could they miss me? They always get back up. No matter what happens... They're always okay in the end. I'm not. And... why wouldn't they forget me? Why did... why did they even care... that I wasn't there? After I moved away?... Maybe... they were just being nice."

"So... Who we talkin' about here? Cuuuuzzzz... I have this strange feelin that it ain't me!"

. . .

"It's... not... about you."

"Good grief Darcy, I'm the one tryin' to be nice for once and you're goin' all "no one cares about me" or some s**t? Jesus christ get a grip already, I don't want your depressing bulls**t!"

". . . You don't care about me. There's NO WAY IN HELL you do. Because if you did... you wouldn't say things like this to me. You wouldn't want me around just so I could make you chocolates. ...and you wouldn't even care if I dropped dead. Frankly, I don't know... why I liked you. I guess I just didn't learn a thing from Will, did I? You're just like him."

"Speak of the devil... Yeaahhhh, you're sooooo right! How smart of you Darcy, getting it right once again..."

"The devil? Like you?..."

"Guess it would be a shame to say that both have already been done and tried, wouldn't it? Guess I could say the devil doesn't want me to join him juuuuussttt yet, right?"

Darcy blinked. What... had she meant by that?...

"...right. He doesn't want to call his little demon back just yet. Who somehow thinks she can masquerade as a human being."

"We'll see about that, won't we? I'll be waiting down there, waiting juuuuussttt for you~"

"No," he choked out. "No... please... no. ...I don't want to go there. I don't- I don't belong there. ...please... forgive me."

Nothing takes back what you did to her.

Darcy began to feel lightheaded. As though someone were strangling him. The dizziness set in...

"Uhhhh, yeah? It sure is!"

"I don't do things without a reason, Darcy. Just so you know..."

"I may have innocent blood on my hands, but I don't regret a single one... They all laughed in the face of death, and death laughed back."

". . . You don't regret ANY of it? Any of what you've done? ...wow. Okay, Jack Kennedy. You think you're so great, don't you? You think you're untouchable. You think you could kill God if you wanted to."

He laughed. Even now, he was referencing something Sawyer loved.

...it always went back to them, didn't it?

"Sawyer. No offense, but this game is so incoherent and chaotic, and it makes NO FLIPPING SENSE! And why are there so many stock images?"

"HEYYY! They use them really cleverly, you know!" Sawyer pouted, crossing their arms. "This game is amazing. It's made me laugh countless times, and cry countless times... AND THERE ARE SO MANY MEMES! And mish-mashed FNAF lore! And doggos, flipping doggos!"

Darcy sighed. "Aaaand child murder?"

Sawyer raised an eyebrow. "Well, yeeeeah. But it's not real. And it's kinda funny!"

"...kinda funny, huh..."

It was just a game.

"...and God would try to stop you. He'd try to make you forget what you'd done. But you wouldn't have the soul to repent. You'd kill children's dreams with a twisted, glowing smile."

"Got it! No pills, they're disgusting anyways... Geez, you'd think they wouldn't have a taste, but they taste NASTY! Tastes like weak s**t, absolutely disgusting! And uh... I dunno, why doesn't it?"

Darcy winced. "Y-Yeah... pills. No pills. I don't-" He shook his head.

Painkillers.

It wouldn't hurt to take a few.

...sometimes, those weren't enough though.

Darcy hadn't meant to get addicted.

...but...

Sometimes, you needed to escape reality for a little while.

If only he hadn't gone to that hospital...

"...yeah. Why doesn't it."

"Oh well, cya! Nice chat we had! Byeeeeee!"

. . .

Oh. She was gone, just like that.

Yeah... nice chat they had.

Where Darcy now wanted to die, more than ever before.

Lucian Arbred's POV

"Come on. Don't be ridiculous. You just saved my ass. I was the one not paying attention. Blame me, if anyone."

"...but... I- Kubo. I should've been paying more attention so it'd never happen in the first place. Can't- you see that?"

He stared down at the pebble, and then looked back at Kubo.

"See that? That was me, if you hadn't been thinking as quick as you had. So just shuttup, okay? I've done all the comforting I have in me for today. If you want more, find the Ultimate Therapist, kay? I'll... find a way across. Thanks, again."

Lucian bit his tongue. "O-Okay. I guess that's true... sorry." He laughed quietly. "Maybe... we could both look for something elsewhere, to help us get across? Or find another way into the other room? I'm not sure if we can risk crossing, even if we find something that can help us across..."

I wouldn't want to put you in danger...

Lucian found himself looking thoughtfully into the gap.

...he could jump. Right now. End his life, right here. This could be the moment he was waiting for.

...he'd die, and everyone else would get to live.

...but... if he was gone... he couldn't protect Kubo.

So, he found himself torn between options. He blinked and stared into the abyss, imagining his bloody, lifeless body being found somewhere below, the life draining from his eyes, and his skin slowly growing as pale as the spots that covered his face. Slowly growing as pale as his hair.

The warmth slowly leaving his brown eyes, and he would smile as his body slowly lost its strength, knowing that he may have saved everyone.

...or... doomed them.

Lucian's face fell. Not over the edge, of course.

...but... what if everyone lost it, without the Ultimate Therapist here?

What if they needed him here?

"...Kubo," he murmured thoughtfully. "...what if I just jumped off that ledge, right now? You could tell everyone what happened, no executions happen... and you all get to go back to the school. Maybe you'd all even escape. It's an idea, isn't it?"

He found himself lingering at the edge. "But... I- I promised to protect you. To protect your life. So whether that... means my own death or not... either way, I'll do whatever it takes."

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian's eyes stirred into tears. "Y-...Yeah..." He was unable to stop the tears from leaking into his voice. "...y-you- could have died... Kubo. I'm really doing a lousy job of keeping you alive, aren't I?"

He sniffled.

"...you're welcome. You're always welcome. Are... you okay? Maybe we should try to be more aware of our s-surroundings."

...Kubo... could have died.

And it would've been his fault...

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian's eyes widened. Oh my god.

Lucian hurriedly grabbed Kubo's hand. "K-KUBO! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" NOT THE CLASSIC HENRY STICKMIN BRIDGE GAP, AND NO CHARLES TO HELP!! ...wait. Where did that thought come from?

This place was a deathtrap... that was for sure.
