• I am stuck somewhere between the beckonings of cacography and the simplicities of a blank mind. • A loss of self-perception and the quiet unmotivation that has rendered me mentally unresponsive • The cold air slides between the gaps of my callused fingers, sending the drops of sweat drumming a feeling into my senses, something I can't decipher, a biological Morse code that mocks my puny biligualism • wishing for someone to talk to me and reactivate the lone dot of focus that has fallen along with the room temperature [Read more] |

δ | Khao | δ ----Mattie's taxicab jolted to a stop roughly half a kilometer away from her desired destination. The bluenette frowned, wondering why the driver had stopped from so far away. She didn't need to ask. Their surroundings were utterly deserted, and the tingling hairs on the back of her neck ominously suggested that the driver probably thought the place was haunted. ----"Outcha go," The driver said gruffly. Mattie could've sworn there was an underlying hint of triumph there. ----Naturally, she kept her head high, gaze level, and stiffly got out. She didn't even have time to take a breath when the cab's engine was gunned again. A cloud of dust was puffed up in its wake and Mattie swallowed a string of curses as she was covered from head to toe. There wasn't any time to curse out lousy taxi drivers, she tried to remind herself. Coughing wildly, Mattie started the very long trek to where her suspicions lay. ----A few minutes of walking later, her lungs had cleared up and so had her thoughts. A crazy hint of an idea bloomed in her head, and she stopped mid-step to examine it like something under a microscope. Her breath hitched once the full realization of it dawned on her. "Stupid idea," She said out loud to herself. "Talking to myself - first signs of madness. Bleh." Banishing all trace of it from her mind, she broke into a weary jog. Besides, even if it did work, it probably would kill her. Probably. ----Despite the looming fact that she was on the verge of passing out, the remaining distance was covered easily with fastidious haste. Ugh, was it normal to feel this heavy and hot and sick? Mattie wisely decided not. She skidded to a stop in the middle of some field to replenish her oxygen levels, only to realize that a. the world was spinning and b. she must have gone off-course in her fatigued haze. Inwardly, she cursed, or at least tried to. She had overused her powers - again. This was clarified further by the fact that her pores were billowing steam, cheerily sending a cloud-white plume of a warning signal to anyone nearby. "Stupid, stupid, stupid!" was her last comprehensible thought. Her legs lost all connection with her brain and toppled beneath her. The bluenette's sickly pallor contrasted with the blistering heat that now settled on it, and the last thing she remembered was reaching out curiously towards some thing that looked like a metal baseball before the darkness fully claimed her. Δ | Chimera | Δ ----WHAM! ----Nie barely had time to cry out when her body abruptly made contact with something hard. Immediately the surprise faded back into apathy, only to get shocked back into it through the contact with the hard, asphalt ground. A flicker of emotion threaded through her normally neutral expression, embodied by a tiny wince as she hauled herself to her feet. The shriek of car wheels triggered her reflexes, and without voluntary thought, she jumped. ----Cries of astonishment echoed across the street as the car, being too slow to brake, slammed right into a body of a girl who had been knocked right out of the curb. Another irritating paralysis flooded through Nie's nervous system as the windshield cracked against her now protected ribs. In the split second before the collision, she had managed to generate a thin layer of modified glass beneath her clothes. It still hurt like hell when she rolled off the hood and onto the ground with a grunt. Great, unwanted attention. Once her vision had cleared, she immediately took notice of people with their phones out, no doubt either uploading a picture of this on Twitter or calling up the police. ----Calling back her focus, she inched to her feet and sincerely hoped the forming bruise wouldn't hinder her for the rest of the day. The thin armor she had projected into reality faded away as soon as she had regained control of her balance, allowing her more room to breathe. The car's driver had gotten out and was questioning her rapidly and profusely apologizing at the same time, which she blocked out as she shied away from their attempts to check her for injuries. It mildly irritated her - obviously she was alive, not bleeding outwardly, and fully conscious. Then again these were normal folks who simply did not realize how many injuries she had toiled under for the past few years. She, however, did acknowledge the pain in her ribs, but dismissed it as soon as it made its presence known. Now how the hell was she going to get out of this mess? [Read more] |

δ | Khao | δ ----Matilda did not expect the throbbing headache to surface and dissolve her concentration. She was left mentally stranded, cut off, and physically drained as she slumped to the floor of the apartment, not even caring that she was dirtying her trousers. Her muscles ached terribly, and what was that sound? Wincing, she clapped her hands over her ears at that unbelievably loud gust of wi- Wait what? Her indigo orbs came alight with interest as her eyelids shuttered open. She scrambled for the nearest window despite her protesting muscles, peering out cautiously. What lay before her nearly caused her jaw to hang open in a rather undignified way. ----In the far off distance, the sky had completely cleared, as if the clouds had been blockaded. The white tufts were milling around it grouchily for about half a minute before drifting back into formation. Her knuckles went white as she gripped the sill. "That cannot be possible," She thought disbelievingly. "No way." In a minute or so, the normality had been restored in front of her eyes. ----Against her own will, her curiosity spiked and the panic was suppressed - at least for the moment. She dashed back inside and snatched up her bag, grimacing slightly from the effort. Whatever had happened earlier, she had yet to fully recover. Risky conclusions traipsed through the forefront of her mind, and seizing hold of the irrational moment, she spontaneously made her decision. ----Down the fire escape she scurried down once more, lugging her bag with her and stubbornly ignoring the more logical part of her brain that was telling her she was being farcically stupid. Having picked up her phone along the way, she mouthed a silent thank you to her deceased parents and opened up the compass app, then the GPS. A couple of hasty calculations and another glance up at the sky prompted her to hail a cab with an earsplitting whistle. As in a literal whistle from her bag - an unfortunate quirk to her was that she had never learned to whistle. "Too bad you never taught me that, Mom." Shaking the thought aside, she clambered inside the musty cab. The driver glanced at her from the rearview mirror with steely eyes that disapproved of her and her lifestyle. Mattie refrained from rolling her own indigo orbs at him and instead fished out the money to pay. "Please take me-" She showed her phone screen to him. "-there." ----She ignored the extremely chastising look that was sent her way. Man, was she doing a lot of ignoring today. Without waiting for him to argue, she held out her jangling change. She met his gaze evenly, daring him to turn away a customer. The guy must have had bad business, because after a moment he grunted and took the money. The engine was kickstarted to life, and with another minute, they were moving. Δ | Chimera | Δ ----A certain seventeen year old was not pleased. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence these days, and the constant, stormy expression was enough proof of that. Nie shoved her hands into the pockets of her sleeveless, leather duster. Her armband seemed to quiver from its place on her lower forearm, a subtle yet very trustworthy signal to steer clear. Not that her frosty eyes didn't convey the message well enough to passerby. She stalked down the sidewalk like a ----Being a restless spirit normally wasn't so bad. But these days? Nie glanced up at the sky ruminatively and grumbled quietly to herself. She couldn't think of anything to do, and that never happened. Until now, it appeared. Everything was fine and dandy three months ago but- "Nein. Don't go there, Nie," She mentally berated herself. "That's enough." Yet the burden of the matter continued to press down at her, urgently and plaintively, as she proceeded roaming the city. [[What Mattie saw was the oxygen expulsion (100 meter radius, if I recall correctly) from Allen's failed attempt on the grenade. I hope I'm guessing correctly that that would have some effect on the clouds, and definitely attract some interest from the more aware people. (Even if it's across the city...it's bound to do something, right?) If not, please forgive me as I bang my head on this desk Edit: I did notice that it was considered a failed attempt, but I wasn't sure if the oxygen thing went through or...]] [Read more] |

I'm currently burdened with the problem of planning two characters for DARP, doing my Filipino homework, trying to post in the superhero roleplay, plotting down maybe two PH roleplays I so so so so want to do, and planning my characters for the aforementioned. Let's not delve deeper into my psyche and panic over my whole DARP-CHB quitting problem. I don't need another crying session, thanks. I love roleplaying. Expressing it in human, simpleton words seems to do it no justice, but "I love roleplaying" is as close as I can get to a heartfelt confession that doesn't transition into cockamamie driveling (like it always does.) It just sucks that I falter with every obstacle represented to me. you're going down...no one interferes with a currently projectile-vomiting-creativity blue mudsheep Omnia without getting hurt... Name: Nieves Eikenboom ("Yes, that's my actual surname.") Alias: Chimera Age: 17 Gender: Female ♀ Alliance: The Web Interests: || Carpentry || Stained Glass Art (for obvious reasons) || Shoemaking || Medieval armor || Cryptozoology || Cold reading || COFFEE || Appearance: fc : Mak Weinman (i'm not actually sure if this is allowed, so just ignore the fc if so.) A need for an incognito is one that Nieves perfunctorily achieves in contrast to her ex-teammates. As Chimera, her flair for the pragmatic is most pronounced with uh, a design that most would consider ignominious. Personality: If you ask those who have acquainted themselves with Nieves to describe her with one word, the first that will topple off the tip of their tongue will be hasty in doing so: pragmatic. Nie won't hesitate to inhibit her emotions when she deems it necessary. While it may seem that she loves shoving this down everyone's throats, it is as a matter of fact quite the opposite. Any lack of empathy she conveys isn't intentional, at least not always. It comes naturally On the other hand, Nie is more perceptive than she lets on. Her quick reactions have saved her from more sticky situations than she can count, and she has the uncanny habit of cold reading people. Not to mention that she has a tendency to blurt out random observations in her usual staccato and freak out strangers. Again with the confusion...why are people so paranoid or stuck up? As if she'd stalk them. Nie has to admit she can't talk though - there's a reason she figuratively casts furtive glances over her shoulder every moment of the day. Her personality type is ISTJ. Abilities/Super power: Also otherwise known as glass manipulation, vitreokinesis, and hyalokinesis, etc, etc. Nieves is more than ready to make a few shards go up anyone's nose, which is pretty alarming and self-explanatory when her teammates edge away from her. She prefers to deploy resourcefulness and quick wits in combat, but it won't stop her from loading herself up with supplies. The amount of glass she can generate is quite limited - so limited that she consistently passes out and sulks afterwards. She can telekinetically move, shape, and compress glass particles, along with being capable of manipulating certain properties; namely, color, density, sharpness, hardness, durability, opacity, and flexibility. Obviously, when under attack and pressure and with a limited timeframe and energy, she rarely can afford to force glass to undergo specific lethalizations. The denser, larger, or thicker (or all three) the glass she's controlling is tires her out faster. Glass particles within a 77 meter radius and her line of sight are likely candidates for manipulation, but she struggles more the farther it is and if it's not in her peripheral vision. Concentration breaks are also always a viable option to exploit. It's nothing seriously or overly supernatural - just that her reflexes have garnered some notice and she's a little reputed for that one incident when a mugger tried to shoot her at point blank range and she managed to turn it away right before he squeezed the trigger. History: "Ugh. Why are you so interested in this anyway? Whatever. I'm leaving parts out - what you don't know will kill you. "My parents met and procreated. I came into existence. Grew up in an orphanage. Ran away a couple of times. Almost succeeded, but bloody social services kept bringing me back. Never got adopted because of my anger problems. Discovered my powers when- You know what? Not going into that. All you need to know is that Fausto found me and convinced me to join. Let's not get into the details of how I may or may not have almost accidentally killed one of my future teammates during that time. "Then he went and betrayed us all. It was my fault for beginning to...actually trust people. His brother went and bailed on us too. Blood's still thicker than water, I suppose. I...lost it. I went and followed him and Derek like some lost puppy. So what...happens now? I don't know. And to be honest with you, just this once, I don't want to know." Extra information: ![]() She's greyromantic and greysexual.
She hates the smell and taste of vanilla. She has an aversion to getting wet. She's an insomniac. ...and therefore swings from being a deep and light sleeper. She has a secret addiction to pop tarts. Repeating her first name eventually infuriates her. It's Nie. "Use the damn nickname." A thick, glass bangle crested with Password: She's actually a decent cook and can mix up more than just noodles. This is also my cue to take this once in a lifetime chance to yell "COME TO THE DARK SIDE! WE HAVE POP TARTS!" [Read more] |

Hallo again~ I'm sheepish to admit that I may or may not be at least the slightest bit disoriented since it HAS been a pretty long time since I roleplayed here. Anywaaaaay, I was scrolling through old posts and whatnot to get back into the feel and I came across the old post warning me to not give Mattie all the power ups oh so conveniently at the beginning. I hope I didn't breach that by allowing her temporary access to her psychic communication, because to be honest, I was stumped on how to get her to the outside of HQ (where all the action is fantastically exploding) logically. Seeing as I did leave while letting her eat her yoghurt (if I'm reading right, the same place where Derek is), I made her clichely storm out now anddddd uh, I blame sleep deprivation. [Read more] |

----"Watch parents die. Watch house burn. Get saved by some random superhero. Sleep. Have nightmares. Wake up. Get yoghurt." ----"This is absurd." ----What the bloody h*ll was she doing? Matilda slowly set down her cup as her common sense kicked back in. "Get a grip on yourself!" A scowl settled on her face, and she shoved away from the table with a loud rattle. Ignoring the admonishing looks she received from the other customers, she stormed out the place. ----She was scared, yes. She was confused and lost and wanted to go home and curl up in her bed and pretend none of this ever happened. She wanted to feel her mother tuck her in bed even though she hadn't done that in years. She wanted to sleep, sleep everything off, including the gnawing, internal ache of using her powers. Better yet... ----Matilda glanced down at her callused hands. So plain. So ordinary. Yet not. Ordinary, normal, perfectly and utterly boring. Would it be so petulant to wish that she was that? That she wasn't born like this, to have pure, lethal energy on speed dial around the clock? A part of her wanted to say no. But in the deepest roots of her DNA, a steady thrum echoed yes, yes, yes. ----You owe the world. The world does not owe you. ----And it was right. She could feel it. Matilda blinked, reality flooding back into her eyes and draining away the flickering images. She hadn't known where her feet had been leading her, but apparently it very much agreed with her crazy inner voice. In front of her stood Trix's apartment building. The glimmer of an idea flashed in her mind's eye teasingly. "I'm either insane or delirious." Nonetheless, the corner of her lips twitched upwards as the idea puffed out, like a tulip beginning to bloom. With speed that she'd never believed her frail physique could have managed, she vaulted up the fire escape her feet hardly touching the rungs. ----Her bag was once more disheveled as knowing hands slipped in and out, loosening knots and freeing the clothes from their constraints. In a rush with newly charged adrenaline firing up her veins, the fourteen year old abruptly found herself snapped up in her tunic and trousers. The aurora cloak was crisply folded and set aside, as was the mask. The contents of her bag were adjusted slightly, bits and bobs thrown in and whatnot. Once her feet were curled up nicely in her boots, her indigo eyes took one last sweep of the apartment as she hoisted her bag over her shoulder, the other hand rifling through her jean pocket to produce her phone. ----"Oh, sh**," Mattie cursed under her breath, her foot halting mid-tap. She didn't know Trix's number. Frustration and helplessness bubbled up inside her, and she reigned in back in lest something burst aflame in the apartment. She didn't have the money to pay for any damages; h*ll, not even enough money to get her through the day. ----Resisting the urge to collapse into a puddle of emotional schist herself, she took short, rapid breaths in hopes that the carbon dioxide being eradicated from her system would help calm her down. Her eyelids fluttered shut in protest, subconsciously searching for a link. Something connected to Trix. Involuntarily, Mattie reached out and grasped the edge of the couch. Then her eye sparked open. ----"Trix?" Mattie's voice felt so far away, even to her. Perhaps because it was far away. "Trix. Can you hear me? Am I dropping in at the wrong time?" Desperation dripped off her words. God, she was just so terrified. Another section of her brain was whirring away, attempting to zero in on...what? She didn't know. She released her firm grasp on reality, instead seeking out with her senses. She frankly hadn't a clue on what her brain was doing. "Trix? Please, I don't kno-" An audible cry rose from Mattie's lips as she mentally slammed into a barrier - formed by what, she didn't know either - and bounced off. The link frayed and panic enveloped her in an icy bear hug. The panic was definitely triggered by something logical, a half-conscious part of Mattie noted, but apparently once again, she didn't know what exactly did. [Read more] |

Name: Matilda Psyche Haywire
Alias: None for now. Later on, "Khao." Age: 14 Gender: Female♀ Alliance: At first, unknown, but tends to lean towards the good side. Later on, Squad One. Interests: • Reading. She almost always carries around her bookbag with her. She enjoys learning new things, as well as constantly surfing the internet. Writing is one of her hobbies, and she tends to be found tapping away at her laptop at times, greatly engrossed in an idea. Libraries are her refuge for sure. • Onomastics. the study of the history and origin of proper names, especially personal names. • Explosives. Haha. She's a walking nuclear bomb, whether or not she knows it. Of course she's going to be interested in explosives. In fact, for the record, don't let her near the fireworks. • Hair. It's a weird interest, but her unnatural hair color kind of called it. She was born with purple hair for some godforsaken reason she doesn't know and quite frankly, she'd love to figure out why she couldn't have ended up with something normal, like black. Appearance: With eccentric electric blue hair and stormy blue eyes, Matilda definitely stands out. Her long hair is usually kept in check with a blinding white headband, and it is occasionally set in a ponytail. Her stormy orbs switch to a menacing purple when using her powers. Matilda is often seen wearing worn out blue jeans and a black ruffled lace blouse, topping it with a silver cardigan. She either is seen with glossy black combat boots studded with silver diamonds or comfy black sneakers with white shoelaces. Slightly shorter than most girls her age, Matilda tends to get underestimated due to her height. Many a bully has tried to pick on her, laughing at her thin and frail-looking frame. Her skin is a sickly pale color, caused by rarely being out in the sun. The lack of color in her skin contrasts greatly with her eye and hair color. Despite all this, Matilda exudes a mysterious strength that makes people think twice before messing with her. She moves with an easy grace that is unnerving for someone who always looks like she's sick. Personality: Quiet and a nasty temper. Those words pretty much sum up Matilda. She's the quiet loner sitting in a corner, almost always perusing the pages of some book or another. Tending to blend in the shadows, sometimes Matilda can go unnoticed as long as she sticks to her silence. People do their best to avoid talking to her, since her dark eyes seem to convey a message of eternal suffering to anyone who looks at them. Not easily angered, Matilda will unleash the wrath of the entire world upon anyone who dares to aggravate her. She is unswervingly loyal to those she cares for, but only to a certain extent. Matilda thinks in a logical and whimsical manner that causes people to think she is naive, when in fact she is actually quite smart. For the most part, she seems like a quiet unexceptional girl with a knack for getting into trouble, not really drawing attention to herself. If she ever opens up to anyone, it will be revealed that she is quite sarcastic, both in all seriousity and in humor. She will stand up for anyone she feel is being wronged, tending to becoming very physical in doing so. However, she is not easy to converse with nor approach, becoming quite reclusive when someone attempts to do so. Abilities/Super power: →Energy manipulation:
Her main and hands down most dangerous power. This enables Matilda to manipulate pretty much any energy source. Running water? Done. Electricity? Bam. Fire? Been there, done that. Heck, energy produced by a death? All for it. This may seem seriously overpowered, but in Matilda's case, it's not. It takes so much energy to do this, often Matilda ends up seriously hurt when she uses this power. Using this by pure willpower damages Matilda severely to the point she is on the brink of death. However, when she gets emotional, this power draws on her emotions, making her a destructive force and not damaging her for the time being. Matilda isn't very good with controlling this at first, only being able to manipulate fire without suffering serious/any injuries. This involves drawing on her own body heat and causing flames to shoot out of her fingertips. Doing anything major with this, like summoning extremely hot flames, will injure her, depending on how much power is used. As she progresses in self-training, she will eventually learn how to use minimal power with the best results, thus being able to avoid severely damaging herself as much as possible. She also will eventually learn how to use her memories and emotions as unlimited energy sources, avoiding hurting herself in all ways possible, but this will happen later on. Though in fact this DOES sound incredibly overpowered, I'd like to note this one little fact: a tired Matilda will not be able to use her powers to their full extent. Disregarding available energy sources, Matilda, if weakened (by pretty much anything including lack of sleep, hunger, etc.), will not be able to manipulate energy without damaging herself. I hope that's enough to make it not overpowered.
• Ability to manipulate any energy source Basic: --■ Energy blasts --■ Energy conversion (Ex: body heat into fire) Advanced: --■ Energy absorption --■ Able to create things using energy (Limited, molecular) --■ Able to use energy to enhance physical abilities (Self-training) →Psychic Abilities: These are mostly passive, and Matilda manages to control these with more difficulty. Actually, at first, she is completely unaware she has these abilities. When she discovers these, Matilda will reduce use of her energy manipulation because it is easier to use her psychic abilities. Also, she cannot use both at the same time, for both require her full attention and concentration. • Telepathy This is a variety of psychic abilities Matilda will have. Though it looks like a lot (damn, this looks so overpowered it upsets me), I'm pretttyyyyyy sure most psychics have this. These abilities are mostly taken from the Sensitives in Skulduggery Pleasant, and the Powerlisting wiki. Basic: --■ Psychic Communication --■ Mind Reading --■ Telepathic Speaking --■ Telempathy Advanced: --■ Illusion Manipulation --■ Knowledge Projection --■ Knowledge Replication --■ Thought Manipulation --■ Psionic Inundation --■ Psychic Energy Manipulation (Combined with her skills in energy manipulation, this power is a force to be reckoned with.) • Second Sight Pretty sure this is self-explanatory. Unusually enough, when Matilda gains knowledge of her psychic abilities, this is the first one she completely masters, able to predict the future through sheer willpower. • Clairvoyance So basically ESP. --■ Psychic Navigation --■ Visual Linking If it seems too OPed (I'm damn sure it is), then I'd like to prod you towards the direction of this roleplay thread in hopes of convincing you that Mattie is not OPed. Her powers aren't exactly stable and stuff, plus her psychic abilities don't manifest until later, so she's basically left with the power of a nuclear bomb that can also kill her. Yay. History: Left at the doorsteps of a random orphanage in the outskirts of the city, Matilda never knew her parents. She grew up, a lonely child always with a book, getting shunned by the other children due to her eccentric appearance and whimsical opinions. Any attempts to bully her ended up with Matilda getting physical and the bully getting confined to their bed to heal their injuries. The orphanage's caretakers decided to leave her to her own devices as much as possible. Matilda was eventually adopted by an equally eccentric couple who, much to her delight, shared her unusual hair color. She kept a low profile at schools, doing her best to keep out of all the drama. She excelled greatly in her studies, acquiring praise and respect from her superiors. Mattie was barely seven when she first used her powers, by accident, of course. She hadn't been adopted yet then, and had been reading quietly in the corner of the orphanage's garden. A group of other children had come and begin to taunt her. In her anger, she set the whole garden on fire, also injuring many of the children. Fortunately, their caretaker quickly called the fire department. The building was unharmed, but the entire garden was burned to a crisp. The other children who had witnessed this were too terrified to speak to her or about the incident afterwards, resulting in the adults guessing they had been playing with matches. Her newly found abilities both scared and piqued Matilda's interest. Often, she would sneak out of the orphanage to test them out in the nearby forest. To both her delight and horror, she quickly narrowed her strange powers to being ergokinesis, also more commonly known as energy manipulation. After nearly destroying an abandoned building during a trip to the city, Matilda immediately resolved to try and control her powers. After some training out in the woods, Matilda finally traced a pattern between her sudden losses of control: she was always emotional. Realizing this, she isolated herself as far away as possible from everyone, practicing and honing her skills as best as she could. She learned to dismiss all the nasty remarks the other kids shot at her, and shoot back witty remarks to cool her temper. Mattie also learned immediately that using her powers were extremely exhausting and possibly fatal. Fire, she discovered, was the easiest form of energy she could manipulate, since she could control it without passing out for long periods of time. When she was adopted, Matilda moved to the city with her foster parents, raising the risks of being discovered as one of the "gifted." Mattie lay low during middle school, all the while training her abilities. She maintained a good relationship with her foster parents, though it was always evident that she preferred being alone. The guy was terrified. She'd nearly burned him. Burned him. Just like what happened to her parents. Mattie's scream was lost in her throat, coming out as a mere rasp. The other part scrambled back, crawling away hastily and deeper into the alley. She didn't follow, instead heading in the opposite direction as if in a dream-like trance. Upon exiting the shadowy corner, Mattie was immediately jostled and pushed as people rushed down the sidewalk like crazy. She didn't feel it. She couldn't. At least, not right now. Images, vague, flickering in her mind's eye. Half written. Screams. Noises she'd never heard before. Papers burning, burning, burning. An underwater dome, cracking and filling with water. The smell of alcohol. Shattering glass. Bright lights, dancing across the night as if they had sentience. A figure, moving so fast it hardly seemed believable. Black smoke, curling across a field, swallowing up the scene. Bullets fired from a gun, echoing. Each fragment, each scene. Every time she tried to focus, they sifted through and disappeared, like water trickling through hands. Mattie collided with something hard and was pitched backwards, her head thunking loudly against what sounded like glass. She blinked, coming out of her daze, her eyes refocusing to see a worried-looking man peering at her. "Hey, kid, you okay?" It took her a few seconds to register what he had said. "I...think so. Where am I?" She croaked out. The man shrugged. "Same place you were when you crashed into me and nearly knocked yourself unconscious. That's going to leave a bruise." Mattie nodded slowly, clambering to her feet awkwardly. The man stepped away a bit, nodding to himself. "Right. You okay now? Need to call your parents, or something?" "I'm fine...I was just-" Her stormy orbs scanned her surroundings, landing on something familiar. "Looking for Yogurtland." The man looked extremely relieved, nodding. What was with all his nodding? It was making Mattie nervous. "Okay then. Take care, kid." Much to her relief, the man turned away and disappeared in the stream of people flowing on the sidewalks. With nowhere else to go, she sighed, dusted herself off and entered the place. She felt around in her pocket for some money, and fortunately there was some spare cash in it. Yogurt, she had always believed, was the perfect wake-up breakfast. After taking a bite out of her swiftly served frozen yoghurt (mango flavor, all the way), she began to suspect it was a nice energizer as well. Left rather exhausted with her encounter with the teenage thug person, the cold treat seemed to sharpen her senses. Adjusting her headband by second instinct, Mattie sat back and relaxed a bit, pondering where Trix could possibly be. Unaware that the latter was nearby, she took another bite of her yoghurt, observing the other customers. One person caught her eye, and Mattie frowned as an image tried to click itself in place in her head. It shattered before it could however, but not without leaving a feeling of foreboding. She tried to shake it off, turning her attention back to the yoghurt. Images continued to flicker in her mind's eye and she pushed them away just as fast. Likely it was just some type of trauma. ----Raeyn was occupied with Denaesse when the two had run up. The small girl had overestimated her own abilities, and her upper body was now half-frozen as her powers over gravity went haywire, trying to assert themselves back into place. "Oh, hey," She remarked halfheartedly as she tried to reconstruct the magic in the young Warden into place. Dena was having trouble breathing. ----The happenings that occurred rather too fast went unnoticed by the two Wardens, and Raeyn barely caught the last several sentences after an astonishingly loud crack snapped Dena's magic back into place with a terrifying shudder. Dark orbs that acted as her main instruments of sight lifted as she straightened, her slim form pulling up Dena with a surprising gentleness. The Gravity Warden seemed to pale even more, if possible, upon seeing the newcomer. ----"This young lady has barely been here for two suns of the seventeenth month of Morrow. You do indeed have the wrong person," Raeyn stated evenly, her gaze unwavering. "Interesting. You answered the Beacon's call? I've met with those of Slendurian race before, but never has one been chosen..." Her eyes wandered to the two with alert stances, and their own two shadows seemed to stir, rippling as Raeyn focused on a mental message. "Attack if they make one wrong move." ----She abruptly shot out a hand to steady the pale Denaesse. "Easy," she scolded the girl lightly. "You pretty much short-circuited your magic and nearly caused your energy and body to rupture in panic." Raeyn's eyes flickered towards the girl who had played a part in saving her life. It seemed that this Chosen came from a world of supernatural things as well. It wasn't rare, but it certainly was uncommon. Her eyes returned to the Slendurian as she rifled her pockets for a certain gadget. Pulling it out successfully, her fingers tapped it almost instinctively and raised it in the air. "Scanning. Scanning. Complete. Name, Unknown. Gender, Female. Race, Slendurian. Combat Difficulty, Legendary. War Alliance, Varies. Please state your reason of being withi-" Raeyn pushed the button at the side, shutting it off as she lowered it back into her jean pocket. "My name is Raeyn. Most know me as Lady of the Shadowed Light, Sorceress of the Shadows, Dark Mist of Valhalla, The Looming Darkness, The Dark Abyss, and some other titles that even I have never heard about. I'd like to inquire of all you're willing to confide on your presence here." [Read more] |
