"Tenant...?" Leanne frowned. "Of course." She thought that Evan and Aleks were friends. She thought they had known each other since before this house. Evidently, she had been mistaken.

She sipped her tea, lost in thought for a moment. Then she finally asked, dreading the answer that she knew was going to somehow terrify her, or at the very least, fill her with dread. (Just think, she could have a moment longer of peace before asking.) "What did you plan for today, Aleks?"

"You know, I've decided that I think I hate you sometimes." She grabbed the tea, the first sip tasting like pure, blissful, perfect heaven. It was one of the few reminders about where she came from that Leanne looked forward to. "But then you'll make me a cup of this addicting substance, and you're alright in my book." She crossed her arms, leaning against the counter.

"Seriously. Check on Evan at some point." Her brow furrowed. Leanne was inexplicably worried about the cyberkinetic. He clearly didn't want help from her. Or at the very least, she hadn't found the right words to say so he would accept help from her right now.

Leanne hesitated. Evan was... not in a good headspace, she could tell. But having people like the little twerp who had followed them in his safe space was the last thing he needed right now.

"Fine, I'll give you some room. But you owe me a conversation, you little piece of-" she stopped, taking a deep breath. Leanne grabbed Emmie by the back of her shirt, lifting her into the air with a grunt. "Are you made of rocks or something? Seriously."

Hauling Emmie downstairs was not as easy as it should have been. Dumping her in the kitchen, she whirled around to face her. "Emmie. Stop following people. Private conversations are private. They do NOT include you." Leanne glared at Aleks. If Evan was telling the truth, then this was his fault... she could just tell.

"Morning Aleks. I'm doing great, thanks for asking. Did you know your tenants are out of control? Evan's also in a funk. And for the love of Merlin, is there any tea? I'm about to die from dehydration if the lack of caffeinated earl grey doesn't do me in first."

Leanne stared longingly between tea and Evan. Eventually, she made up her mind, following Evan back up the stairs. At least upstairs had no Emmie.

"Evan, wait up," she muttered, trudging up the stairs after him.

Glancing as Cass, she smiled briefly, before darting after him.

"Yeah, but the human parts? They need sleep. I should know..." She looked down, scowling at the overabundance of humanity. She had never said a word about it, nor would she start now. Leanne was pregnant. Three words. It was just a fact that the house accepted.

"Evan, why can't you just take a break? It's not that hard. You might enjoy it, or somethi-"

"Has anyone told you that conversations aren't meant to be interrupted?" She sighed in exasperation. "I'm Leanne. Fourth time I'm telling you this, Emmie." This girl. She was the most annoying out of everyone there with her stupid roller skates and over-the-top happiness. Actually, Leanne wasn't even sure if it was happiness. Just pure, frenetic energy.

She rolled her eyes. "Goshdarnit Evan, would it kill you to take a nap? Despite the 'very real and present part of me that doesn't want to,' I worry about you. One day, you're going to collapse from not taking care of yourself, and before I help you up, I will laugh, very loudly."

Maternal instincts, Aleks called them. How could she want to throw someone out a window so much and want to give them a hug at the same time?

"Well, sor-ryyy. I thought you would know. And he's... busy." Leanne sniffed disdainfully in the direction of the kitchen. There had better be a pot of tea.

But then, she paused, taking a second to really look at Evan. Something felt off with both him and the house. "Are you okay? You look like you've maybe gotten about five hours of sleep in the past week. And you don't need me to tell you that that isn't good."

Leanne scoffed, reaching out a hand to stop him. "Just wait a minute. Please. I... why are they here, Evan? From what Aleks has said, he was once lucky to get one of us a year." She didn't understand why he was so annoyed. Aleks wasn't the problem... the other people he was around were. The crazier the house became, the more Aleks took on the chaos as his own. She wondered if the house was a part of him sometimes.

"And they're all... young. I know you've lived far longer than I. I probably seem like a child to you, hm? But these are... actual children." Leanne nodded in the direction of the kitchen, brow furrowed. "Do you know anything?"

Leanne wandered downstairs. Screw this and their noise. In the past few weeks, the house had... filled up. It wasn't a bad thing... but when you were already easily annoyed and a small human was growing inside of you... They were too much.

Evan was climbing the stairs absentmindedly, not even noticing Leanne. She'd spent seven months in this place. In that time, she had basically learned nothing about the solitary demigod, which was frustrating. Leanne liked knowing things. Leanne liked having a teensy bit of control. Evan was friends with Aleks somehow, but they had both been around long before her. Long before her, if her research was anywhere near correct. That was expected. They were both confusing.

"Evan, get your head out of the clouds." She rolled her eyes at him, her clipped British accent sounding irritable as usual. She really would let have let him have it he smashed into her. "Are you responsible for these people and their noise? Because Merlin, I swear, if Aleks's hatred for tea has prevented a pot of something English being made, I will hold you both accountable."

Hi, I'm Cath. I call out BS when I see it. If you have a problem with users on this site harassing you, let me know. I'll see what I can do to help.

I identify as bisexual or queer. My pronouns are (she/her).

Before I came out, publicly two and half years ago, I was an ally. I have experience with dealing with hatespeech and property defacement in school and the workplace. I don't stand for homophobia, so kindly get your crap out of the chat.

I won't pretend to be some sort of expert, but I try to keep myself well-educated on LGBTQIAP+ subjects, and will help anyone find resources. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need advice, support, or even just want to say "hey!" Coming out can be scary. In the sense of the word, it's a process and not an event. A lot of people forget that. Hugs for all of you <3

"It's not arrogance when you're being loud." She said simply. "You're too excitable... both of you. I may be arrogant, but I have finesse to back it up." Stella was smart about the big things. But the little things were where she tripped up. She was going to get shot for her smart mouth one day.

"Besides, have you even met your colleagues? Nora wouldn't let me win. Not if I promised to split a million dollars with them. A third miscalculation on your part, Detective. Yet I appreciate you fueling my vices all the same. Go fish." She waited for Nora to gesture for her to go.

"Now gimme your queen."

She tossed the ten of diamonds across the table to Nora, grimacing at how the game was shaping up. Oh well, plenty of time to catch up. It was the endgame that made or broke Go Fish. But now, her interest was piqued by the shouting passengers.

"First rule of detectivery is to shut up and listen. If you two are anymore obvious, they'll switch compartments." Her voice was low so that only her companions could hear. And on the off chance anyone could read lips, her head was angled into the table as she pretended to straighten her pair of nines.

Andrael had yet to even look at the two men in question. That's how subtle she was. The moment you looked at someone, they unconsciously detected your interest. Andrael played the game assuming everyone was just as smart as her until proven otherwise. These two men were unknowns.

On the surface, they appeared to be careless, dropping information loudly in a crowded train compartment. But what if they had already pegged them as detectives? Then the information could have been purposely leaked as hook. They could either be drawn into a trap, or distracted from their main goal. Andrael played life like it was 4D chess. It was... incredibly lonely.

And then Stella spoke. Andry couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"For starters, they're not winning against me. And basing natural curiosity on the outcome of a cardgame is stupid. Why don't you do research, and we'll compare notes once I've beaten Nora?" Aside from Buraddo, who hadn't moved in a half hour (probably asleep again), profilers beat detectives in the power structure.

Well, it wasn't formalized really.

Andrael just usually took charge, and no one cared.

Because she was always right.

She always solved the case.

AC ducked her head, embarrassed. "Sorry. She... she knows how to push my buttons. Also, the first words she said to me were insults, followed by a proposition. Pardon me if she's... not my favorite at the moment."

AC resolved in that moment that she wouldn't let a word Andreja said affect her.

Calm and collected.

That was her.

"You're actually so stupid." AC grumbled. "Of course none of it matter here, (we'll die by monsters, not illness), but I'd rather be a fish than have skunk vomit."

"Screens just fit with your standard zoomer, gen-z comment. I would never doubt your... creativity to find new ways to put your life in jeopardy, angel bitch."

Andry rolled her eyes at Nora's jest, an almost imperceptible flicker of annoyance crossing her features. She wordlessly handed over the ace of heart, her expression unyielding. The card was never meant for her and anyway. Fate had made that clear.

Sixty-fricking-nine. If Nora were to propose a prank against Narcisse... that changed things. She might consider allying with them over the pompous head detective.

"Still your move, Nora..."

"While there is nothing I would love more than watching you face plant into a pile of toxic spit up, I don't feel like listening to you whine. So you're going to wait another two minutes."

Don't strangle her, don't punch her, don't let her get to you...

"For your information, not all of us are screen addicted fools. I'll have you know I strive for eight glasses a day, stupid. If I had thrown up, it would be less putrid, and a far more respectable color and consistency. Perhaps those stupid medical dramas might actually pay off in this world. There had to be something useful she gleaned from House.

Andry's expression remained stoic, her gaze locked onto Nora's. A subtle, almost imperceptible raise of an eyebrow was the only acknowledgment that this time she was telling the truth. Without a word, Andry smoothly drew another card from the deck, revealing a nine. The motion was fluid, deliberate, a testament to her precision and focus. Melchiorre had always said that Andry had a way of commanding the room. Spades and Clubs aligned. How cute.

"Well, you won't be taking this one from me," she said coolly, placing the new pair of nines on the table across from Nora's twos. The monotony of her tone contrasted sharply with the intensity of her eyes, which seemed to scrutinize Nora's every move. Beneath everything else, Andrael was a little competitive. It was all an act, mostly.

"Miss Alaire? Andreja is delirious and is annoying draping herself over me!" AC was annoyed, but at moment, preferred the stupid girl alive.

"She's having a hard time adjusting to the new dimension. Some people just do if they've never been here - or remember being here before. It's completely random."

"So what do I do? She would start choking me and blame the vertigo."

"We just have to wait. Should only be a minute or two more."

AC groaned, annoyed. "You literally owe me so much for not letting you faint in a puddle of your own puke."

No response.

"I mean come on, it smells so bad. You're literally dehydrated."
