(/filling in for all what happened since my last post)

''Oh, alright'' Mallow replied at Kayla, the looked at the new team member. ''I’m Mallow. Nice to meet you, uh…'' he realized he didn’t catch her name, same with the Pawniard and the third Eevee close to Haku, both of which he didn’t notice before. At least he now knew the Floette’s name.

His ears perked at the strange sound. Aside from the new Eevee, no one else seemed too bothered for it, so maybe it’s just something that was usually heard around here.

As he saw her guide the Pawniard -whose name was apparently Mousa-, Mallow heard what Haku just said. An announcement, huh? He wondered what it would be about, now fully paying attention to the pack leader.

Then she and the third Eevee started explaining about the ‘tests’ she mentioned before. Like the other team members, Mallow stood there in a mixture of shock and confusion. What was the purpose of that serum? Who were the other 26 Pokemon? Were Eevees the only one immune to the infection? Was this whole zombie thing made on purpose? He then realized that what he deemed as a joke turned out to not be one after all, and if that’s true, there’s the possibility that he might as well be one of there tested Pokemon.

As he was about to ask, a sound was heard, not too far from them; shortly after, a yellow, vaguely Eevee-like Pokemon showed up. Haku seemed to recognize him as she got closer and now were talking. Maybe he was a friend or a family member.

Mallow wondered whether he should talk to both Eevees about this whole test thing or just retreat to Kayla’s shelter and think about it. He decided to do the latter; right now they were busy receiving a new partner.

Waking up for the second time, Mallow heard a bit of talking.’ Huh, was the pack awake?’ He looked at Kayla’s bed, which was now empty. ‘Yep, they are.’

After stretching up a bit, he trotted towards the place the group was in. As he got closer, Mallow noted there was a second Eevee, probably another pack member. "Good morning everyone! " he chirped, feeling better after days of barely sleeping. "Hope I’m not uh, too late or anything."

It was early in the morning; so early in fact, that it was just beginning to dawn. The silence indicating Mallow that apparently no one was awake yet. Either that or they were far, exploring the surroundings or something.

‘A part of the group, huh?’ he thought. It certainly had lots of advantages, but on the downside, the new priorities would halt the search of his previous pack. Then it occurred to him that maybe Haku –or the other team members- would know, or at least have seen other Nidorinos, Nidorinas or even a large, blue Nidoking.

He kept curled up in the bed. He could maybe sleep a bit more before the pack either wakes up or returns.

(I'll go on and assume it's morning now, if you don't mind. Also, it is ok for an NPC to be Shiny? if not I'll edit it out.)

‘’Aah, yeah’’ Mallow said, almost whispering. He followed the Sceptile to her shelter, encountering the Eevee who was in the other one. ‘’Uh, okay. T-thank you guys’ he lowered his head a bit as a sign of both respect and gratitude, and then headed towards Kayla’s place.

Just at that moment, he heard their little conversation. Noting both Pokemon were staring at him, he got closer to them. ‘’Well, I would really want to…’’ On one hand, he needed a pack; being alone was weakening him, it felt like a matter of time before the zombies killed him. On the other hand, he would not be useful enough for them, or could even bring trouble…

The Eevee's approval seemed enough for now, maybe tomorrow they'll decide better? Incidentally, he now knew the names of two of them: Kayla and now Haku. If only he knew the Floette's name. He’ll have to ask her tomorrow.

This shelter was pretty big, which made sense as Kayla doubled him in size. As she said, there were two beds, both the same length. Mallow waited for her to come, just because he didn’t know which one was hers.

(Edit: added a bit more)

As he was slowly getting sleepy, Mallow heard someone get closer. It was Kayla; her suggestion was actually a really good one, as didn’t consider that fact.

''Oh, may I?'' He uttered, unsure about whether the shelter she mentioned is the same one the Eevee and the Floette entered or a different one. She was right, since the incident he hadn’t had an established place to stay, instead keeping in movement to avoid the zombies, sleeping in an abandoned den one day, then in a rotting log and so fort.

Noticing the group moving, he decided to go with them while keeping some distance. Was he actually one of these tests the Eevee mentioned? If so, how did she knew? Was she one as well?

Maybe it was a joke after all and he was just overreacting …

The area they were now seemed pretty safe; it had a good view of their surroundings so an ambush –or any attack- was either unlikely to happen or spotted easily. It was the perfect place to spend the night safely.

While the team got inside some sort of shelter, Mallow stayed outside; unsure of his position within the group, or if he even belonged to it. After all, he was just some poor random guy they helped.

Sighing, he removed some little stones in his place and curled up on the floor. With them around, he could hopefully rest for a bit.

So far, this has been a long, stressful day.

The Eevee seemed pretty knowledgeable about the whole thing, more than the rest of the group. As he told the story, Mallow couldn’t help but cringe at it, imagining the pain, confusion and utter horror those poor Pokemon felt during those tests; probably not that different than being bitten and turning intro a zombie. He had trouble imagining humans however, due to never having seen one in his life, or at least, as far as he remembered.

His last line caught the Nidorino completely off-guard.

‘’W-what?’’ he once again yelped, his face a mix of bewilderment and nervousness.

Maybe it was just a joke; he’s the new guy here. It has happened a lot before; back in his family group days, his friends used to tell him jokes just to see him flustered.

It was a joke, right? Right?

(I have to sleep now, will try to catch-up tomorrow.)

To create zombies? Mallow thought, feeling more confused than before. Serum… zombie making… oh, wait.

Is the group wondering if he is a zombie?

‘’No, no! I haven’t been in any test whatsoever! And I’m not a zombie, I swear!’’ he yelped, stretching his front legs in an attempt to show he didn’t have any zombie-made injury.

If that was what he asked, this will probably answer it; if not, he just made himself a fool.

The group’s knowingness of what happened and who caused it all was surprising. Despite growing up and during this messy situation, he remained oblivious over all there facts that for them might be common knowledge for them, just thinking it has been always like this.

(Hmmm... Mallow being inmune would be pretty interesting, especially on the durability part; on the other hand, he's kinda weak so... I'll think about it.)

As the Floette got down and let go of him, Mallow worked on trying to calm himself down, still rattled and shaky about the zombie spiders and being up there.

He wondered if she was okay, what with her being a Fairy-type and he a Poison-type. ‘’Uh, hey… are you alright?’’ he muttered’’ I-I mean, you were holding me and uh…’’ She didn’t look injured by his spikes, but he knew poison takes some time to kick off.

The Eevee’s question, however, was kinda strange. ‘’ The serum?’’ he remembered hearing that word before, but didn’t knew what it was. Does it have something to do with zombies?

While he wondered what serum meant, he barely heard what the Sceptile just said. ‘’Oh, n-nice to meet you too’’ She said Kayla, right? Or was it Karla?. How embarrassing…

(I keep forgetting which Pokemon are you guys, hope I got it right.)

Finally free, Mallow could stand up, his body aching for the awkward position the Ariados left him on. He stood confused at the Eevee’s claims, until the shadow ball hit the approaching zombie bugs. ‘’Ah, yeah’’ Not knowing where to run, he decided that following the group wasn’t a bad idea; after all, they seem pretty strong and, unlike him, knew what they were doing.

Being grabbed by another Pokemon startled him, his back spikes bristling in fear. Being high in the trees was something new and pretty scary, so he kept quiet in hopes the Pokemon wouldn’t trip and both fell to a certain death.

‘’I-I’m Mallow’’ he muttered, finally concentrating enough to answer them. He thought about asking the same to them, but maybe they’ll presentate themselves better when they are in a safer place, or at least down these trees.

Mallow didn’t knew how to take the Sceptile’s response, whispering a ‘sorry’ to himself, just in case. This situation was pretty confusing; a bunch of Pokemon coming to help him? Maybe it was their territory ant they want it zombie-free? If he weren’t immobilized he could perhaps fight along them.

On second thought, he wouldn’t be all that useful, and now with them discussing why they are helping him only made Mallow whisper more apologies...

Aside from whoever was in the tree, Mallow could hear more Pokemon approaching him. He struggled in hopes to get rid of the silk that trapped him, but it was fruitless. With no option but to wait, he tried to look as small as possible, his ears and back spikes flat against his body.

As the other Pokemon –a Sceptile- got closer, he examined them: no rotting skin, no missing body parts, no heavy scarring. He –or was she? - wasn’t a zombie after all.

Fearing both the Spinarak and the Ariados saw them, he tried to warn the Sceptile for their presence. '' … spiders, th-the spiders'' was all he could mutter, then shakily pointed with his head at the tree were they were waiting, their eyes still glowing a bit.

Both zombies swiftly climbed down their tree, readying themselves to attack the Grass type.

In a frantic attempt to free himself, Mallow tried to chew off the sticky, foul smelling fibers. It was barely successful however, as the silk was still fresh and now glued in his mouth. He bumped his head in the silk, only to remember he doesn’t have a horn anymore. If it hadn’t broken maybe he could cut this thing easily…

Between sobs, he looked at the tree where the Ariados came from; then under some branches, noted three little faintly glowing eyes. They were still there, waiting patiently for the chance to claim their prey.

Most of the Bug-types either settled down in the trees or left, except for a few ones that scattered around the area, laying there injured and unable to fly after the mayhem. A lone Butterfree with missing antennae seemed to gain attention on the pinkish, stuck Pokemon. It slowly fluttered towards him as if wondering if it was dead or a tasty, easy to catch meal.

He didn’t notice the approaching zombie, being instead too frightened to continue biting the silk, wondering when they will get down and just finish this.

As He was slowly giving up in despair, a sudden gush of strangely sparkling air emerged from a tree branch. He winced, trying to curl up to avoid the attack, but as he already laid on the ground, it barely hit him; most of its power was instead directed at the zombie Butterfree, which crashed intro a tree, then plummeted to another bush.

After the gush passed, he looked around, but couldn’t see the source of the attack. Was someone just fighting zombies? Or helping him? Or was it a zombie fight for food?

Meanwhile, the Butterfree climbed up the tree it smashed with, and then with its wings flapping fast, charged blindly at whatever struck it, ready to poison their target.

(Whoops, this got pretty long c': Also, assuming Mallow is near the group: tree dwelling creature - actually Kayla.)

Fleeing from whatever was in that tree led him, funnily enough, to a deeper part of the forest. Mallow hid behind some bushes, then flopped down in exhaustion. If he was being followed, they now won't see him and it'll give him some time to catch his breath.

Looking up at their crowns, these trees seemed taller than the previous ones, and he noticed some activity there: some Bug-types, namely a Beedrill and some Butterfrees, fluttered around aimlessly; their random flight pattern, along with the calmness, were distracting enough for him to forget his actual situation and eventually start feeling sleepy.

Fighting off that need, Mallow got up. There were more important things to do, like finding his group... or keep away from the zombies. As he peeked out of the bush, he noticed a small, spider-like Pokemon not too far from him. It was a Spinarak, even though it missed some legs and its right eye was heavily damaged...

Uh-oh.

Just as he was about to escape, the little zombie let out a high-pitched shriek; which in turn made a larger one go off a nearby tree, landing in front of the Nidorino. Terrified, Mallow kicked the spider's face before attempting once again to run away from them. The Ariados shoot out a fine line of silk, effectively trapping its would-be prey by his left back leg. As he tried to remove it with his front paws, the zombie shoot another line, now leaving him unable to escape.

Suddenly, the flying Bug-types swarmed around frantically. Apparently, something attacked them and now they were fleeing from it. Both spiders hissed at something unknown before scurrying away.

The collected berries were far more than what he could eat. With no way to carry them with him, Mallow had no option but to leave them there. He sighed, knowing he'll regret that later.

Suddenly, he heard some rustling; which apparently came from some trees not too far from there. The Nidorino rushed towards a large fallen branch and hid behind it, hoping he wasn't seen. Fortunately enough, whoever did that didn't seem to notice his presence as they -where there more than one? It was hard to tell- swiftly moved around.

After the sound stooped and the creature left, Mallow ran away from it and the branch, heading in the direction opposite of the berry trees while considering if he should hide again in the rubble.

Sunshine entered thought the cracks of what was once a house, now turned to rubble, indicating Mallow that it was time to go out. He sluggishly left his hiding place, still groggy after yet another sleepless night. A quick peek of his surroundings revealed no one was around, so he slowly left behind the rubble and trotted towards a nearby berry tree, occasionally stopping to look out for any possible threat.

There were far more berries in the ground than usual, along with some branches ‘’A fight?’’ he murmured while looking at the tree’s crown. Whatever did this must be pretty large or strong –or both?- Shuddering at the thought, Mallow decided to instead concentrate in gathering berries; picking them one at a time, he managed to build a rather large pile.

After finishing the collecting, he proceeds to eat.
