Valentin feels part of his body shrivel away at Kalinda's response. No, you idiot, now they'll find out our lie, he thinks, cooking up a new plan as to not get find out. "Oh, Kal, my dearest friend, do you not remember the guard out front that we very much saw and didn't run into at any other time or location? Do you not? Maybe we should just get on with the tour quick. And not in the way that we came from. Please?" He bats his angel eyes.

Valentin tenses up a bit at the tone Opal carries in their voice. "T-that sounds wonderful! I mean everything about this place is wonderful from the strong guards to the worrying lack of them at the entry to the halls filled with more magnifique than my parents have ever owned in their entire life and-" he cuts himself off and prompts to just nodding. Probably shouldn't have opened his mouth at all. Pleading eyes, he looks over at Kalinda. Do Not Mess this Up. M. More Than I Did.

Sparing a quick look at the actual king who was Right Next To Her and trying to send him her most polite smile, she turns to her new friends again.
"Well... I know it's not the longest way in the world, but we could maybe all walk to the marketplace together? Maybe I can even convince dad to let me stay a bit longer!" She chuckles slightly when repeating Rosaline's words. "Maybe he'll give me a discount to a hotel or get scared enough to let me stay forever."

Valentin practically jumps over himself as the attention that was previously used on the two mages against eachother turns to Kalinda and himself. A tour?? Around the castle?? That castle he'd heard about for *years*? This can't get any better!!!
Although his legs are still sore from all the running, he walks closer to Opal. "We'd love to see the castle."

Thea looks at the sun outside. Her father should be done with his "business" now. She should probably get going.
She stands up and curtsies to the two knights. "It's been an honour meeting you both, darling Rosaline and Philly, but I simply must get to the marketplace now."

"I would love that! Dad was never out for travelling much, but who's to say I'm not?" She laughs for herself. She nods to Rosaline, "I'd love to visit you too, sometime."
Oh, how wonderful it would be to live in a city.

Capturing Kalinda's eyes, Valentin sighs. Of course she'd be amazed by it. He folds his arms and watches Opal begin their part of the duel. This should be... interesting, or whatever.

Thea sinks into her chair. "That's real unfortunate. I could've showed you my favourite spot on the farm - even my dad doesn't knøw about it!"
She claps in her hands as he brings the croissants to the table. "Oh, absolutely wonderful! Thank you both for this, honestly. I'm going back home tonight... presumably, but I wish I could stay forever with this kind of food!" She takes a bite. She knows something is happening in the bakery, but with enough patience, a woman can ignore any sounds, she comforts herself.

Valentin can't decide whether he's impressed or scared by the conversation between the mages. They are both cool in their own way, but it is a bit strange seeing how they'll so easily compete over anything. He spares a glance to Kalinda, seeing if she has any reaction to this... "duel".

Thea can only gasp at the sight of the newly added drawing to her map. "That's sou awesome!!! I wouuuld never have thoøght I wouuld meet someooone so close by! We couuuld meet sømetime back hoooume!" Thea swears she's never smiled as much as right now. She can hardly grasp anything that's happening around her in the bakery.

Thea laughs a little, "I guess it is." She isn't very keen on the arm wrestling duel... invitation? Acceptance? Information? But she tries to repay the giggle anyways. At the very mention of her home however, it seems as though a light bulb goes off in her head.
"Aha! I am glad you ask!" she says, finding a map from God knows where, and shows it to the knight.

((not completely accurate representation but i tried ok

Valentin gulps as he sees one of the greatest mages in the city in his own person. They look a bit... short, but other than that... wow.
"We... uhm... we.. we took a shortcut!" he lies, eyes moving to Kalinda as if to signal a 'we-are-getting-through-this-lie-TOGETHER' to her.

She can get used to this, Thea comforts herself. The knights don't actually seem all too bad...!
She nods at Rosaline, thanking her with quiet mutters.
"You seem very passionate, darling Philly! I think it's inspiring to find something you're so happy about to do for a living," she rubs herself on her neck. "I don't really do much... it's more of just helping my father. We keep ox just outside of the city, it's pretty nice."

"KALINDA!!!" he manages to scream, suddenly on his feet again and running into the castle. Oh God. Oh Lord. They can't be here without permission. All villagers have to wait outside. How did they even get inside.
And almost as if a bigger force was watching over him and laughing, at precisely that moment a guard blocks their way.
"Hey! You two aren't supposed to be here!" the guard yells, running closer to them.
Head empty, no thoughts, a panicked deer caught in the headlights, Valentin bolts past the guard.

Valentin finally manages to catch up to her, wheezing and panting. He falls to his knees. He punches himself in the chest. "Yes...." Wheeze. "Very... nice..." wheeze. He punches himself again and rises up to his full form again. Well. As full as 156 cm is.
Any polite smile he would've shown Kalinda gets thrown out of the window by his sheer fatigue, so he only manages to send a worrying grin.
"Can't we just... walk in..."

Thea nods politely. "The chocolate croissants, huh? I haven't had any of those since I was a little kid!" She finds a place to sit down. "Is this place usually so... uhm... crowded?"

Thea returns the handshake, slightly shaken up about another knight so up close, but she can't end it here! Gotta be brave. "Nice to meet you," she manages to get through in a Completely Cool and Collected Tone.

Valentin screams a few words before them becoming actual human words: "WAIT KALINDA WAIT UP HELLO HELLO WAIT!!!"
Valentin presses his hat down as he manages to get all his energy into one long run. Their destination was the castle, but even so that is kind of vague... where were they supposed to go?!

Thea looks at Rosaline with a mix of amusement and shock. "I'm shuore you mean all well, but I reeally don't think I'm oulder than yuo," she sends her a hesitant smile. "I'm Thea Nylund, the daughter of Søren Bækgaard. You can hurry the pace up a lit'le, darling Rosaline." Thea gets a good grip on the knight's shoulder, grabs all the confidence she can store in her body and begins walking a little bit faster with her newfound stranger-friend-knight whatever in a proper embrace. Well. 'Proper' is subjective. It's just really a half-hug, but at least she's standing completely upright now, right?

"Uhm... thank you!" She says as politely she can, though she can't help but feel a bit strange at the sudden contact. Is this some new kind of contact only city people know? Trying to fit in as much as possible, Thea tries her best to lay a hand on the knight's shoulder. Like tugging a friend home after a successful win in some kind of sport. "I wuuldn't say I'm completely neew to the city, I just live reight outside on thee countryside. I haven't been heere in months, though." She smiles as best as she can.

Thea still watches in shock at the knight waving her hand, but at least she's more gently now... Thea can't help but smile a little. Knights really are polite like in all the stories. Debating on whether to speak or just slightly nod, she decides to take a chance.
"Nice to meet you, d... darling Rosaline," she can't help but boast slightly for herself over her newfound politeness. Mom would've been proud to see her right now. "I am... safe, I think, but I don't really know where anything is, haha..."

Thea sees a lady in armour approach her. She freezes in her place, even when the supposed knight shoves flowers in her hands. She can only look terrified at her. She doesn't look necessarily look that scary... if you just try to ignore your fear she does look kind of prett- she's a knight!
Thea quickly curtsies. "Thank you for the flowers, my uhh... uhm..." What do you call a knight in rich people language?! "Darling...?"

"What materials did you need anyways? If it was just a "shovel" we could've just repaired one," Thea says to her father. She really doesn't want to complain to him for this opportunity, but it was a bit strange. Her father looks at her a bit embarrassed. "I really just need to visit a friend of mine, it's been a while."
She looks at him with utter shock on her face. A smidge of betrayal lingers in her eyes. Her dad quickly claps her on the back, "W-well! I better go off selling that shovel! You go on ahead, my dear! Look around!"
Walking away, Thea looks around the city that has never appeared bigger. Nowhere to go than forward, she thinks as she begins to walk around.

Thea can barely contain her excitement as the carriage reaches the city, and her father lays off the handle. "Wanted to tell you "we're here!" like the old days, but I doubt you haven't noticed," he laughs. He stays off the carriage, helping Thea get off from where she stands. She pets the horses for a little while, thanking them for their hard work, then helps her father get his things from the back into the marketplace.
If she can just hurry a bit, then there'll be plenty of time for her to do something unbori- more cool stuff.

With quick packing of their things, Thea and her father set off towards the city in their carriage. Thea can't wait to see the city again. It has been what, six months now, since she was last allowed to go with him? She can't wait to see what has changed... Maybe it's just a bit of wish-thinking, but just thinking about being able to see other people her age... Man!
And so, she was soon near the inner city.

Valentin tries to catch up to her. "Well, of course I am, but I really don't know where to start," he looks at his hands. "You know your magic type already so it's easier for you. I've got practically double as much work as you do!"

Thea almost jumps up as a door sounds through the little home. "Dad!" she yells, running in to catch him in the entrance.
"Woah, can't a man enter his own house anymore?" he laughs, putting his hat on a nearby shelf. "Are you really that excited?"
Thea can't help but roll her eyes: "Well, of course! There's so much more... happening there." Thea almost catches herself saying that it's 'not boring' but chooses to withhold that information. Probably the safest.
