I think there should be a separate section in the GTS for shiny pokemon. It would be a lot easier to search for shinies in this way, similar to the shiny section in the auction house. Sometimes searching for a specific shiny in the GTS can be extremely hard as we have to skip several other trades to look for one.
So, a separate section for shinies in the GTS would be quite helpful.

Or simply, for the shiny version of a pokemon, there should be written 'shiny' beside their name to specify them from the normal version of their kind in the GTS search bar, [for example: Bulbasaur (shiny)]. I've seen this feature for the retros and megas, therefore it also could be done for the shinies. In this case, the GTS search bar would look something like the following picture.
