Flurrypaw rested her paw into the water. The thick cloud of floating fur made some poor guppy believe that it was merely a harmless patch of weeds, and it swum right inside. Flurrypaw started stroking the fish's belly. As it drifted off to sleep, she impaled it with her claws and quickly flipped it out of the water. Two wood trout and a salmon soon followed.

"Blazepaw! Are you in there?" Saffronmoon set the mouse on the den floor, carefully covering the made-up part with a paw. "Hello?"

Saffronmoon made eye contact with Blazepaw. Drat. He's spotted what I'm doing.

She moved fast and headed back into the den, where she begun to apply a paste of crushed berries and woodleaves to the mouse. Using a" brush" she'd made in her earlier days, she painted it to look like it was freshly-caught. Then she added a little surprise of... hmm. The prank maggots(actually mushroom stems with sticky honey to keep them 'glued' ) were gone. She would have to stick to using prank beetles (peanuts covered with the darkest mulberry and a small hint of bark.)

She carried the taxidermy mouse outside, holding it in her jaws, carefully covering the part with the fake beetles on the stuffed animal, and made a beeline for the apprentices den.

Flurrypaw rubbed thick strands of snowy fur out of her ruby eyes. "Urgh..." She blearily looked at her mentor.

Then she reviewed the last few sentences.

...we're going fishing.

Sleepy Flurrypaw left the Riverclan territory and was instantly replaced by Alarmed and Awake Flurrypaw.

"We're going fishing? FISHING!"

Rainbow trout! The tastiest food she had ever eaten. It surpassed mouse, vole, no, no animal was beyond the greatness of rainbow trout. The oil, the smell, the pink shiny flesh...

Clambering into the den, she made sure that the cover of leaves, tree cotton and shedded fur were warmly draped over Nightpaw. Then she eagerly followed her mentor.

Meanwhile, in the Thunderclan camp, Saffronmoon looked out the entry to the den. The place needs cleaning soon. I can smell dust. She spotted her apprentice looking for her. Let's give him a little test.

"Feathery!" She whispered, hoping her mate would hear. "Do you still have one of those stuffed animals?"

"Yes, dear...what do you want them for?" Featherstar, or more privately Feathery, blinked the sleep out of his eyes. "Pranking?"

Saffronmoon just took the stuffed mouse and grinned.

Flurrypaw and Nightkit slept together, huddling against the cold. It had been a freezing night, with a opal-mirrored moon. Nightkit's scarlet, pupiless eyes blinked, unseen underneath the blindfold. She sniffed and the smells of the den entered her head, painting a picture.

Dawn was breaking. She knew her sister Flurrypaw would be gone off apprenticing soon. She knew she should wake up soon.

The blind prophet turned, yawned, batted the idea of waking up early away and snuggled back under the covers.

Waking up can wait. You're sleeping in today.
