He tried to hold back the temptation, but it was hard trying to adapt to a somewhat 'human' life. It's what he should be doing to survive - feast on the souls and take others to hell. It was the only thing he was ordered to do, to be kept from getting in trouble. He just wondered how long he could truly go without taking the life from another human.
Durae, his mind involuntarily thought.
Cut it out, the demon thought in response as he gained control of his mind once more. You can't be doing stupid things like this.
With an annoyed groan, the male rolled onto his side, facing his apartment's windows. There was a sudden shooting pain running along his side and he grimaced in pain. I totally forgot about that...
The male sat up in bed and pulled up his shirt to look at his side. He was astonished at what he saw; along his whole side, just to a bit below his rib cage were splotches of grisly red bruises. He knew it could have been worse, considering that they were higher ranking demons who had much more power than he had himself, which got him to thinking. Despite him attacking or holding back one of his own kind and defending a human, these demons didn't go all out on him when they tried to get him to release Gerlach. It was bewildering to him, but he couldn't pinpoint why it was so.
The demon laid back down, now on his back to avoid the bruises, and stared up at the ceiling. The day, in short, had been quite a mess. It put more strain on his body than he expected and it left him exhausted. His body still felt cold from being outside in the rain just a few hours before, even though he was wrapped up in his blanket and wearing what should be warm clothes underneath. The glowing clock at his bedside read 8:42 PM and the darkness that melted around him was comforting. It was not long before his eyes began to shut and the male fell into a deep sleep.

After giving the younger male his number, it was time for the two to start heading back home. The male placed his phone back into his jeans pocket and headed back out into the rain, reciprocating his own wave back as the two parted.
By the time he had made it back to the apartment building, his clothes were soaking wet and his hair was clinging to his face. As he reached into his other pocket for his room key, a shiver had crept up throughout his body. "I'm not used to being this cold," he muttered to himself as he pulled his key out and opened the front door to the building. It was such a difference inside; as it was starting to get colder outside again, the heat was now on in the building, so it was at a fairly comforting temperature.
The male made his way up the stairs of the apartment building and onto the second floor where his room was, his room key still grasped in the palm of his hand. His room was towards the back of the building, but it wasn't too far of a walk considering the building was pretty small. When he made it to his room, he slid the key inside of the lock and twisted it, pushing the door open. He was greeted once again by the stagnant air of his apartment, something he still hadn't gotten used to.
The first thing on his mind was to get out of his wet clothes and change into something that was dry. He made his way over to the drawers that was to the right of his bed and pulled out a white, loose-fitting t-shirt and light gray sweatpants.
It was a nightmare trying to get out of the skinny jeans. Not only were they already tight, but the fact that they were entirely soaked made them cling to the male's skin even more. After about a minute's struggle, the male was finally able to remove the jeans and he threw them onto the floor. He untied the tie around his neck and unbuttoned his shirt, tossing them onto the wet pile below. It was only after he had changed into the warm, dry clothes before he took the rain-soaked ones and placed them in the dryer.
Once he felt like he finished everything he needed to do, he threw himself onto his bed with a heavy sigh. What a hell of a day...
He pulled his bed sheets over him and closed his eyes. I just hope Faas and them won't be back. What exactly are they planning? It isn't like us to be trying to take souls out in the open during the day.
Souls...
The word reverberated in his mind. The thirst was coming back to him.

Bastiaan guessed it was time for the two to part and make their way back to their homes. The rain had steadied itself fortunately, so the walk home wouldn't be too bad. He knew his apartment was just a five minute or less walk away, so he didn't have to worry much about getting himself drenched as he walked the rest of the way home. The male didn't have anything to cover himself from the rain, but he knew he would just have to deal with it.
Before the two had actually separated, Durae had asked Bastiaan for his phone number. His reasoning was quite understandable, so he paid no mind to it. He was more than happy to help out and prevent those demons from attacking Durae again. The demon slipped out his phone from his jeans pocket and entered in the passcode. "I just really hope there won't be a next time," the male muttered under his breath as he took a couple steps towards the younger boy.
"Here it is," he said as he started to read off the numbers. This was actually his first time using his phone, as he didn't exactly have any use for it yet.

I... believe you, the words repeated in the demon's head.
Even though Bastiaan could tell the young boy's words were filled with uncertainty, saying those words were enough to convince the demon that things would be okay after all. He didn't blame the boy at all if he was still terrified of the demon's true self; he was a creature known to bring destruction and it was only natural to be afraid of it. But with time, he hoped that Durae would realize that he wasn't like all the rest, even with the incident that happened.
There were several moments of silence that passed between the two after those words were spoken and it was then interrupted when Durae got a call and answered his phone. A few sentences were spoken by the boy into the phone, but Bastiaan had no idea who was on the other side. The male listened closely to see if he could pick out who it was, as he was curious after all. It was then when the word "mom" came out of the boy's mouth that Bastiaan had an idea on who it was. The demon had not realized how much time had passed since the two had gotten out of school and he could guess that Durae's mother wanted to check up on him and see where he was.
The phone call had then ended soon after, with Durae telling his mother that he would be making his way back home now. The younger male then turned his attention back to the demon, asking another question, with more ease this time around.
The older male thought back to the apartment he had stayed in just the night before. He wasn't particularly fond of it; the previous owners had kept this section of the apartment unkempt and it didn't look like the owners of the business cared about how each room looked like before they rented it out to the next person. As well, there wasn't air-conditioning in his apartment, so he only had the option to keep the apartment's windows open to get any sort of fresh air inside. He had a lot of cleaning up to do if he wanted to stay there, but he wasn't going to complain. So, Bastiaan decided to keep his response short and simple when answering Durae's question.
"I rented out an apartment just down the street. It's not too big, but it's enough for me to stay in for the time being while I'm here. It's only me, after all."

Despite everything that had gone down within the hour, it made him feel better to express his thoughts, even if it was to a human - who he definitely could tell was even more terrified of him at this point. He didn't want Durae to be scared of him, rather, it was the last thing he wanted to happen in this day. He was a mess, he knew, but he wanted to prove that he had no bad intentions. He was different from the other demons; he wanted to better himself from what they were known for.
As Durae brought the subject of the security cameras back up, he decided that getting rid of the evidence of the fight would have to be his first priority. The fight happening in front of Durae was already bad enough to him and the last thing he wanted was the whole world to know about his existence. It was only his first day living in the human world and he already caused some sort of disturbance without intending to.
Without saying anything in response to the boy, he turned himself completely around to face the security camera that hung almost directly above where he was standing. His gaze settled upon the device and he focused intently on its shape. Within moments, his eyes glowed a menacing red and the male took a deep breath through his mouth. There was a loud crash as the device sparked and shattered into several pieces, falling into a heap as it hit the rain-soaked ground. The demon's eyes reverted back to their usual shade and the male turned back around to face the younger male. He was relieved that he had one less thing to think about, but now he still had to worry about Durae.
"You have to believe me when I say I didn't come here to cause trouble or to harm anyone. I'm not like the others, rather, I'm far from it. It's true, there's one thing I need to survive on, but you can trust me; I'm not here for your soul. I want to learn how humans live their lives - I mean, we don't know anything about human life, we just take it away from them."

A spark of hope had ignited into the demon's very being when he saw the younger male turn around, though he wasn't surprised at the indignant interrogation that followed. He couldn't blame the human - after all, anyone would be frightened and shocked at what he was. He wasn't part of the human world and for the most part he didn't even exist to the majority of humans. There was so much destruction that his own kind had caused on the human world and this was who he was.
He let the younger male release all his anger before he dared to speak. It was time that he had to be true to himself. He couldn't keep hiding from what he truly was. He let out a deep sigh, before meeting Durae's gaze directly with his own.
"You're correct," the male confessed in a quiet murmur, but loud enough to be heard through the pelting rain, "That's exactly what I am. I'm the one that takes away the souls of the innocent. I'm the one whose only purpose is to bring more souls to hell. That's me."
Instead of continuing after his previous sentence, he took a few moment's pause to remove his gaze from Durae's and instead look at the ground before him as he sat there, finding his next words.
"The other beings you saw where also demons. I did not send them here at all; I had no intention to harm anyone as I stayed in this world, but I guess my curiosity got the best of me and I apologize deeply for that..." his voice trailed off and he decided to push himself up and off the ground.
The rain was now beginning to pour into the alleyway the two were in. A distant crackle of thunder could be heard through the roar of the rain.
"Security cameras?" he murmured aloud, as he remembered what Durae had mentioned. He glanced back towards the roof of the towering building above him and he felt a knot in his chest. I'm so stupid...

The sound of the rain pelting on the sidewalk and road several feet away from Bastiaan brought him back to reality. Fortunately, his breathing had now calmed and that being so, his original appearance began to return. The gnarled horns upon his head and the dangerously sharp nails on his fingers started to shrink away until there was no trace of them, like nothing ever happened. If only that was actually true.
But, it was useless to hide. What had happened, happened; there was no way he could possibly erase it from existence. To him, his curiosity had proven to have gotten the best of him. He would now have to pay the price for it. Whether it'd be trouble by the humans, or even worse by his own kind, and the one that ruled them all. Either way, he'd have to take the consequences.
The male braced himself when he heard the sound of sneakers against the sidewalk, making their way towards the alley he was sitting in. The familiar appearance of the white-haired boy had turned the corner into the same alley he was sitting in, but it was different. He could sense the distance the boy had put between himself and the demon. The younger male's gaze never fell onto his own and he continued to walk, as if not even acknowledging the demon's presence.
His own eyes followed the boy's movements, but he himself, could not find the words to speak. He was too ashamed of himself - of what he was and at his failure. It was not until the boy had distanced himself even further from the other male before he mustered the strength to croak out the word he could find.
"Durae."

Moments after he had given Durae the command to run, he saw the male get up in the corner of his eye and begin to run away, soon disappearing from his view.
The demon had endured several hard blows from the three unrestrained demons, but despite the pain he felt, he had not given up until Durae was safely out of sight. At that time, he had released his grip on the blonde-haired demon's neck and bounced back to give space between himself and the four others. He was panting heavily at this moment, mostly from himself receiving the hits he had from the higher ranking demons. The pain was now quite noticeable as his right cheek and the side of his body began to throb and burn, signaling that inflammation had begun.
"Are you mad?" Faas retorted, his crimson eyes glowing with anger. "What are you doing, attacking your own kind and defending a human? Have you got no sense?"
"This won't be the end of it, I hope you know," Lievin muttered, "if he finds out, you're never going to taste another human soul again. And then what will you do?"
"Pathetic, just absolutely pathetic," Gerlach sneered under his breath, "Let's get out of here. I'm done dealing with this fool."
Stefanus shot Bastiaan a disappointed look before he and the others' bodies turned into a dark mist before dissipating. Bastiaan was still trying to catch his breath, but he had to get himself out of sight before another human saw what kind of mess he was. Instead of running straight down the sidewalk back to his apartment, he figured an easier thing to do was to hide in an alley and wait until he could catch his breath.
There was an alley just beside where the fight had been so he made his way inside and out of view. He leaned his back against the wall and slid down until he was sitting. I need to calm down, I can't go back out there like this, he thought to himself as he tried to control his breathing. I can't believe that put so much strain on my body. I can't be doing this.
Durae... What is that human going to think?
Many thoughts rushed through his head as he sat there alone in the alley, trying to calm himself. All his thinking was doing the exact opposite of what he wanted and he closed his eyes.
Oh, what mess have I gotten myself into?

Gerlach's sinister expression was replaced by a look of disappointment at Durae's attempt to free himself. "Is that all you've got, petty human?" The demon tightened his grip on the boy's jaw, so that his nails had begun to pierce through the skin, causing blood to run down his fingers. "You don't have a chance," the demon sneered, his gaze following the movement of the other two demons as they neared Durae.
"I said to let him go!" Bastiaan's growl directed at the other demons become louder and quite vicious and within moments, his true self had appeared. Twisted black horns had sprouted from the sides of his head and his nails grew longer into dangerously sharp points, much different from a demon's in a calm state. He charged at the group of demons, the fury taking over, but he still had some sense in him to be careful of Durae who was still standing a bit petrified behind the group.
He felt his own hand clasp around Gerlach's neck in a tight rage and he saw Gerlach had released his own grip on Durae's jaw.
All the other demons averted their gazes over to Bastiaan instead of being on the human boy and even with Bastiaan's hand around Gerlach's neck, the other demon still had a wild grin on his face. Faas, Stefanus, and Lievin all were trying to seize onto Bastiaan and pull him off.
"Durae, run," Bastiaan snapped urgently, still not releasing his grip on the other demon.

Ever since Black/White, I've been naming all of my Flygon "Mustang" (that I would get in the following games). I was quite obsessed with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood at the time and the name just stuck :>

I have a Flygon on here named Mustang as well~

Bastiaan was still speechless at the sight of the other demons. What were they doing here, especially in the middle of the day in plain sight? He was going to be in so much trouble. He wasn't afraid of his own kind; the only thing that had settled in him was the shock at their timing and the fact that all four of them were after one human - Durae.
"Care to join us?" the 'shortest' demon called out to Bastiaan. Bastiaan recognized this demon to be Gerlach, one of the very few demons he knew that had blond hair. Gerlach turned his attention to the younger male behind him, who seemed to be frozen in place out of terror. This demon then hooked his hand under Durae's lower jaw, his sharp nails pressing into the male's skin, but not yet piercing it, and tilted the white-haired boy's head up to meet the his gaze. "I wonder how his soul tastes," the demon remarked, drawing his tongue over his own lips.
Bastiaan began to growl under his breath out of anger. "Take your hand off him."
The tallest demon, named Faas, had a wicked smirk on his face. "Oh? Is Bastiaan sticking up for a human? How pathetic," he stated, followed by a laugh.
The other two demons, Stefanus and Lievin, began to move even closer to Durae.

Several dark mists manifested themselves behind the younger boy. The mists instantly began to materialize into four towering, slender males, or demons specifically.
A sharp laughter could be heard from one of the demons as his eyes were locked on the back of Durae's head. "It's time for a feast!"

Bastiaan pushed open the school's back doors and escaped into the outside world. It was still fairly humid and the clouds looked even darker than they had when his class had been outside for gym. During gym, it seemed that the storm had entirely passed as the clouds were beginning to break up, allowing the sun to shine through, but now it looked like another wave of storms were entering the area. The male let out a deep sigh and began to make his way home, hoping that he would make it before it really started to rain.
About halfway to his apartment, he spotted several dark figures on the sidewalk before him. They all looked like they were grouped together conversing, but as the male got closer, he could tell that they weren't just amongst themselves. A shorter figure was standing opposite of them, someone he could tell did not fit in with them. The male continued to approach cautiously, not knowing what to expect from these seemingly other humans.
The sight before him became clearer as he approached, and it was just then when he realized that the shorter figure was Durae. He lives this way? the demon thought to himself. This doesn't look good..
"Hey!" he called out, not to Durae, but to the other figures to catch their attention and to turn them away from the younger male. At this point, he still couldn't tell who these people were exactly.
He felt his chest tighten as the figures turned around, their glinting red eyes fixating directly on Bastiaan.
"Bastiaan, what a surprise," the tallest figure spoke, a sinister grin stretching across his face. Suddenly, a soft drizzle began, as if giving signal to what was coming next.

Once the bell rang, signaling that school was finally over, Bastiaan stood up from the desk and handed in the worksheet to the teacher, before walking out the door. He didn't exactly have anything left to say to the younger boy before he left and he was a bit relieved that his first day being at this school was finally over.
The male quickly walked straight down the narrow hallway to the doors in the back of the school. He didn't have to stop at his locker to drop anything off or to take any of his textbooks home, which was another relief. He could just go back to his apartment and relax. Just as he passed a couple of other classrooms, he heard a voice behind him. Noticing it was a familiar voice, he guessed it was Durae. His guess was confirmed true as he turned around and saw the white haired boy walking behind him.
Bastiaan was shocked at the compliment he was given. "You're really good at science," the boy said. A wide smile appeared across his own face and he hesitated before responding. "Let's work again sometime."
He turned around, the smile still plastered on his face as he continued to walk towards the back doors to the school, and out into the open world.

Bastiaan watched intently as the boy beside him worked on the second question on the worksheet before them. He could notice that the younger male was beginning to feel more comfortable working on the questions and had an idea on how to find the answer. There was only three more questions left on the worksheet and the older male could tell they would have it done in no time.
As he had finished up his answer, a small grin appeared on his face and he responded, a calm but happy tone in his voice. "Good job."
Bastiaan was onto the third question and it wasn't long before he found the answer in the book. It was another 'right there' question, which made everything so much easier for him and he began to write the answer down on the worksheet. The two males went back and forth finding and writing down the answers until the worksheet was completely done.
After Bastiaan had set down the pencil when he was finished writing down the last question's answer, he lifted his head up and glanced around to see where the other students were at on their work. Surprisingly, it looked like Durae and Bastiaan were one of the only groups that had actually finished the worksheet. The rest of the students were still deep in conversation, some with only one or two of the questions done. "Well, it looks like we're good," Bastiaan commented, now glancing at the clock, which showed that class was just about over.
