Maggie noticed someone in the corner of her vision. Upon closer inspection, he was wearing a mask of sorts. He was certainly a lot quieter than the others she had met, but a little more intimidating as well. She kept her distance, but watched him inquisitively.
It came to her mind that she would probably have to eventually turn into "Not herself", as it is harder to communicate as a bird when the person you are talking to isn't a bird. The best she could do in this form was a few squawks and calls. Maggie hoped that time wouldn't be too soon, as she had been used to her normal form after she isolated herself to train. "That training wasn't even helpful," a part of her declared. She didn't want to unpack that right now. Instead, she hopped closer to the mask-wearing person, but still comfortably safe on her perch.

I'll try to remember that next time I have them. Maybe if I remember I'll buy them for our music trip next year (if we have it). It'd make the ride more interesting, that's for sure. Edit: Just remembered that we have a bus trip for drama that's gonna take a few hours, I'll do it then

I really liked the toothpaste one. I actually haven't done the challenge thing, but instead had one of those canister ones, this kind, and just eat them alone. Most of my friends are too picky to even eat the normal jelly beans so I don't have anyone to suffer with. Leaves more of the better ones for me I guess

Oh are you talking about the beanboozled jellybeans? I always hated the barf and stinky socks flavored ones. I personally haven't seen a bleach flavored one, though I'm gonna guess it tastes like chlorinated pool water, but worse.

Maggie winced. After isolating herself in the wilderness for so long, she had lost her small tolerance towards raised voices and She hopped backwards, almost falling in the process. She just wanted to be alone right now, but her gut told her that sticking around would be the better option. To compromise she distanced herself far enough so their screaming would be quieter but she could still see the majority of the group. Maggie found a comfortable spot on a branch and simply observed the area around her. It let her think. "Did I bring myself here on accident?" she shook her head. "No, otherwise why would everyone else be here?" Nevertheless, this experience could perhaps aid her in finding a way to "slip". Shift apparently called it tessering, but Maggie liked the term "slipping through time" more than "tessering".

"I see you've taken notice to the others here," Aspen commented a light chuckle and smile growing from his face. He looked around the camp and picked out a few faces unfamiliar to him. "I don't recognize some of these faces, though. New recruits I guess. Wanna go introduce ourselves?" he asked, noting the flaming flower that Gia must have grown. After getting his Cyro vision he started gaining more tolerance to the cold, so it was probably something similar.

Maggie was slow to wake up, after all she could tell that she was still in a forest, but something felt wrong. First of all, she was on the ground. Birds like her don't sleep on the ground, but she attributed it to her simply falling off of the tree she perched herself in the following night. Second of all, she heard voices. Human voices. This is what caused her to actually get up from her sleep. Still drowsy, she looked around. The trees looked like normal trees and the ground and the sky looked normal, but something was still off. It was the way the ground felt on her talons, the way the wind ruffled her feathers, as well as the odd looking humans and creatures that were with her. This wasn't her home. But it wasn't like she had much to leave behind anyways.

"Well, I may have explored these mountains, but once we get out of this part of Liyue I probably have just as much knowledge on the area as you." he admitted. "And you get this sort of knowledge after traveling for a while, so you will probably get a better idea of the land as time goes on." he tried assuring her. He stopped to look at the terrain and stopped his gaze at one area. "There it is," he said, relieved that nothing major happened while he was gone. "It may be a little basic, but it's home."

While Aspen didn't quite understand the recipe, he probably wouldn't have understood even if he had a better grasp on written language, so he just nodded along. "There are some beautiful flowers in Liyue," he commented. "Some are found on the peaks near the camp if you're interested." He tried pointing out some of the peaks that he knew had Qingxin flowers blooming on them, but could only remember a few that he saw recently. "There are more areas where they grow, but I can't remember them at the moment," He clarified.

"You have to find the right kind of paper for it, but I won't explain any more than that." Aspen didn't exactly know how it worked himself, his father only explained how to use it, not how it worked. He put the photo back in his pocket and continued on. "We're pretty close, I'm pretty sure we're already in Liyue." he remarked. He was still thinking about the temporary camps he spotted by the river and wasn't able to shake off the anxiety that had crept up on him. He shook his head as if it'd help, but it wasn't effective.

Aspen chuckled. "It's kind of like painting a picture, but a lot quicker. I think they were popular where my parents were from, but I don't know for sure." He rummaged in his pockets, and pulled out a sheet of paper with some color on it. "Here's one of the photos I've taken recently. It's a picture of a shipwreck I investigated right before we met." The photo was grainy, but you could see that there was a broken wooden hull on a beach. The wood was starting to warp and there was evidence of crates inside the hull itself.

He took in a deep breath and tried to calm down. "I'm a bit of a photographer." he answered, his voice too quick for his liking. "When out, I'll try my best to take pictures of the area to remember it." he slowed himself down. "You'll be fine," he told himself. "It didn't look too recent, so they're probably not there anymore," He then let himself focus on the sounds of the river, which calmed him more than the mantras.
He took out the kamera from one of the pockets of his coat. The object had small dents and the wooden body was slightly faded. "My parents brought it with them when they moved here, and as I got older they let me keep it. They said it was made in the nation they were from, but I don't remember which one it was." he shrugged, and put it back in his pocket. "The thing's older than me, but it still works well."

As the two made their way around Dragonspine, Aspen noted all the small changes he saw since he last was here. He tried his best to keep the thoughts to himself, but he would make quiet comments that he assumed Gia would have heard. Most of them were about the ever changing nature, things like the river being higher or some of the trees having polka dot holes from woodpeckers, but as they got closer to the camp Aspen noticed small unnatural disturbances in the snow across the river, the snow cleared out from an area and signs of scorching on the ground. Aspen's sword felt heavy in its hilt and he quickened his pace ever so slightly.

Aspen nodded. "Don't worry, we won't need to go up to the peak, I don't think anyone has been in at least a century," Aspen started to walk off the path. "We'll go around then, don't worry, we'll be there in no time."

"If everyone is unique, then the 'simple' one is probably the most unique out of all them." he laughed. "My mother would say that sometimes." A nostalgic smile spread across his face. "And hey, you have a vision, that makes you unique, even if it may bring unfortunate consequences." Their steady progress had made them reach Dragonspine, the chilly wind being familiar company to the boy. "Do you want to go through, or around?" he asked.

"Not anywhere like a camp or settlement, but I'm familiar with the area of Dragonspine. I've never dared to go far into the mountain, but if need be...it's an option. " Aspen paused, but shortly continued. "I used to live near there," he clarified. "And I'd used to explore the outskirts of the mountain before...this." That was a sort of half truth, as he started wandering due to dissappearancr of his parents. They said they were going back to visit family, but it's been almost a year since they left before he decided to go find them. It was a good choice too, as when he came back to his old house the first time he found it burned and ransacked.

Aspen flashed a sympathetic look, and started to walk down the path to the camp. "We'll be there before you know it," he assured Gia. He kept his focus on the sounds around them, trying to filter out the dying chorus of birds as it got dark. He might have been assuring himself too, as his steps were slow and shaky.
While walking down the path, he started to recall why he had been here, he almost forgot after his encounter with Gia and her companion. He had heard a rumor in the camp of a ruins that Aspen thought might have had clues as to where his family could have been. Unfortunately he had found nothing, so all he still had of his family was a sword and his name. Finding another vision holder made the trip worth it though.

Aspen didn't fully realize until now that Gia probably was tired due to her encounter with the fatui. It didn't help that the trek might take a while if they were to leave exhausted. He winced at the oversight. "Or..." he was struggling to put his thoughts into words. "...would you rather take a break? We can't stay for too long, the night can get pretty dangerous, but if it can help then...well we can stay for a bit." While night make it hard to see enemies, the cover of dark may also help them if they go off the path. He didn't know the area enough to stray from it until they got close to Mount Snowpeak though, and it may cause them more trouble than staying on the path.
"I'll figure it out as I go," he murmured under his breath. He slightly shook his head. It bothered him that he wasn't able to make a concrete decision.

He heaved a sigh of relief. So this person was also a vision holder! After thinking about what he should do, Aspen brandished his vision, which had been tucked away in a coat pocket close to his chest. It's chilly blue color matched the hair that was once again covering his face. "I'm going back to our camp, it's one where vision holders can be safe, or at least it's safer than wandering in the wilderness. Do you want to come with? You seem to need a place of refuge."

"Nice to meet you." He flashed his best smile. Aspen looked around again, and saw no one else but the two of them. He heard birds chirping from all around him. "Can I ask you something?" without hearing a response, he approached Gia and asked her: "Who was after you, a hilichurl, a boar, or was it," he paused, instinctually touching his scar, "...was it the fatui?"
