She turned back, and forcibly grabbed Prometheus's sleeve, dragging them away from the argument. "Keep your head, gambler." She said, tersely. "You have decent oration skills, but you don't know when to stop."

Promethius dipped her head. "My bad, my apologies."

She was staring straight ahead, moving at a brisk pace. "The princess is proving her ignorance on her own. I know you believe it's your duty to help her on her way, but stay out of it. That elf, Jean-Michel or whatever, doesn't seem like someone to take any crap

Promethius's curiosity took over. "What's she like? You seem to know her better than i do, I've only ever heard rumors of the things she's done."

"The entire meaning of elder is 'An older person with more experience', clearly i fit the bill, unless you're blind of course, in which case i'll happily get you a pair of my glasses." Promethius said snarkily. "And you clearly haven't done your research, black crested dragons are ferocious, and can take on multiple dragons at once with ease, and as I've said earlier, I'm an adventurer. I've sailed through the jade seas, along with my father. I have experience in the matter."

"Prometheus, Prometheus. Yes, she's being rather... insolent... but please. We don't have time for this." Paiyoon paused, meeting the gambler's eyes. "Don't let her taunts get to you. Seriously."

"I'll tell you what i have that you'll never have child, common sense and respect for those that deserve it. I also know a thing or two about respect for ones elders, which you clearly have not been given. For your information, there are dragons species that can't be tamed, and HAVE to be slain, like the black crested dragon or the spotted blue leviathan. You don't get to talk about how hard it is to navigate the seas and how hard it is to shape the council, you haven't even done the first yet, so you don't get a say in the matter. Statistically thousands die every months from sirens alone, not even taking into account other beasts like leviathans and giant squids."

Upon hearing the voice, Promethius nodded nd disengaged from Athena while giving them a dismissive wave of her hand. She wasn't worth her time. "I'll join you, i'd like to see the armoury myself."

Illura nodded at Paiyoon, extending a hand for them to shake. "Kira, at your service. I'm better known as the quasi-immortal historian, i travel worlds to chronical the stories of them all. I have a knack for sensing danger, and thus place is setting all of my cowbells off at once. I don't think it's a good idea to continue, or leave this program. I hope that we can be allies, since you two seem trustworthy enough."

Promethius dipped their head teresly, they had to rein themselves in more. "Apologies for the insult miss Athena. Let's pray your intellect will save us from certain doom, eh?" They quickly turned their attention to Paiyoon (Yes, that's her name, she'll have to remember that.) "How intruiging...It seems you're a buffer then. There don't seem to be many physically strong people in our party though, i believe most of us were selected for magical capability. The fact that we're going to need your buffs is disturbing news to be for what could happen."

Promethius's head snaped over to Athena, eyes burning in rage. "OH YEAH? YOUNGER MEANS BETTERR. IS IT? WELL, WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME THE LAST TIME YOU FOUGHT A DRAGON, OR THE LAST TIME YOU SAILED INTO THE JADE SEA, RIGHT INTO SIREN TERRITORY?" Promethius said calmly. "That's right, never. So shut your trap youngling, or i'll have to shut it for you, brains or no brains."

Promethius calmed a bit. "Besides, your logic is flawed. I was talking to Paiyoon first, before you even came. Naturally that meant i wasn't directing the sentence towards you. It has nothing to do with age. Also, I don't need the council. All i need is me, myself and I."

Promethius gave athena a hard look. "It wasn't directed towards you, not everything is about you. Please kindly keep out of the grown up talk, will ya? You may have won in academical contests and studies, but i won in the genetic lottery, so you can kindly take this 2000 gold and kiss my a**." The words leaving their mouth were venomous and stinging to say the least, Promethius did not like her tone, not even the slightest bit.

Promethius nodded seriously. "I'd honestly rather not reveal my hand at the first turn of the table, but seeing how dire the situation is, sure. I'm not merely a gambler and a rich playboy, though that's what i'm most well known for. I'm an adventurer too, a bloody good one at that if i- no, the council most likely believes it too, seeing how they called for me. Anyways as an adventurer i've undergone multiple dangerous tasks, for example exploring the jade sea, scouting the singing sands and so on. I'm able to survive due to my enchantment magic, which allows me to, but is not limited to, cure blindness, grant minor traces of sentience, dispell illusions and grant flight. Once I got stranded in the singing sands without water, so i had to enchant a lizard i had killed to be able to provide a water supply for myself VIA its ingenious scales that collects perspiration. I made use of it and improved it with magic so i had a reliable water source." Promethius paused. "The council might've wanted me for my experience with the singing sands since i've treaded that path before. I think i understand now. But what about you? What do you bring to the table?"

Promethius snorted. "Elven female or not, to me they're just "Some guy" as of now due to me not having a shred of information about them except for their gender and their species. Besides, I'm not kicking them, it was just a slight nudge in the side. No biggie. I was just checking if they would respond to external stimuli, it's not every day i get to see a elf in stasis mode due to poison. "

"I'd be willing to guess they were on their way to the guild hall, as the guards clearly let them up to this floor on the tower. Perhaps they were meant to be one of our fellow adventurers..."

"There we go, i knew you had the observation skill in you to figure out who in the name of hell they are. Problem is, i have trouble believing they're on our team. They got careless and bitten by a deadly snake and chose to rush here instead of seeking medical attention, i'm not sure i want them on our team."

Promethius clutched her heart mockingly. "Oh wow, it seems i'm correct about one thing, how absolutely shocking! You blow me away with your observation skills madam." Promethius hadn't liked the tone theyd injected into that part of the sentence. She knew they'd probably clap back at her sarcasm, but she couldn' resist the momentary jibe about pay-lah-whatevers mental faculties. "Anyways, does anyone know who this guy is? Important or nada?" Promethius gently nudged the side of the body in an attempt to wake them up. Clearly it failed.

Kira dabbed at their mouth with a napkin, looking down at it to see blood. He was running on borrowed time here. This story might be his last, so he might as well make it as memoriable as he could. He excused himself, walking to the toilet and shutting the cubical. He had to have a backup just in case anything went wrong. Focusing, he exhaled and closed their eye for five seconds, before opening them. In front of him stood a solid illusion identical to him in every way, shape and size, down to the last minute details. The two eyed each other for a bit, the original kira rethinking what the power truly was, (It does have substance, so strictly speaking it's more of a doppleganger) before the fake Kira left the stall, rejoining the room and taking his place. The illusion was his to command, and he'd trail them from a distance, rejoining them and dissipating the illusion once he confirmed that there wasn't any immediate danger, he hadn't gotten to where he was simply by token of luck after all.

Among those that had entered room 325, a man stood in the darkest corner, silently scribbling on his seemingly infinite notepad studiously. He didn't like drawing attention to himself, that would be reckless of him, especially since he'd seen someone he recognised, the immortal merchant. He didn't know if the merchant still recognised him after all these years, especially due to the amount of customers he recieved, but he had no intention of finding out. He gazed around the room on high alert, eyes scrutinizing the faces of everybody in the room. Most didn't look like threats, but the ones that did concerned him greatly, especially chris with his strained smile. Kira didn't like that, something seemed off. After years of training his danger detection skills he could feel something off in the air, but he couldn't pass up the chance to explore the crystal castle, so he kept silent, but on guard.
