"... through a raging flurry of
arrows, coming down harder than the rain was, we managed to break
through the barriers!" My father's arms swiped with emphasis, his
razor sharp elbow blades cutting through the air in a moment's
notice. Me and my younger brother jumped slightly, intently
clinging to each word that fell from his mouth. I've always loved
my father's stories, especially the ones that talked about him and
my mother. I do miss her, quite a lot, but I know that my father
misses her even more than we could possibly imagine. Nothing from

It turned out to be my father, sitting by himself out on the porch. I quieted my footsteps, slowly peering out to see what he was doing. All that was there was him, and another odd presence. Something that seemed familiar, but almost unknown. I looked out further to see nothing more than a silhouette. That silhouette, of a mother I had long since forgotten, only to have it fade back into nothing more than a memory. The only thing I could do was look at my father's face, a mix of sadness and joyousness spreading like a wildfire. Nothing more than a spirit, nothing more than a dream... [Read more] |
