Kalani is cool as a cucumber and hard to anger (only being angered when Pua is hurt or in serious danger). He is actually owned by a young trainer named Akamu, but the feline somehow keeps managing to escape his Pokéball (along with taking Pua with him). He is normally away from his trainer for weeks at a time, prowling the Alola region with his wife and trusty partner in crime, Pua. That is, until the pair is caught in the act and returned to Akamu. But she has been with her husband Kalani for long enough that he can translate her body movements and facial expressions to speak on her behalf. She is extremely mischievous, and loves causing havoc with Kalani whenever they can. But she tends to get frustrated easily because she isn't very strong, and has to mostly rely on her husband to do most of the dirty work.
