You can exchange them with Leah at the beach for relic silver. Which you can then keep exchanging for rarer relics and work your way up to getting a fisherman hat that makes you a more awesome fish-hunter (it allows you to fish during thunderstorms and I imagine might give you some boost with fishing? I haven't gotten it myself yet so my knowledge is lacking).

I can confirm/verify the boost. Aside from allowing you to fish during a thunderstorm, it also strongly increases your fishing skills [aka gives a boost]
