Ivypaw sighed in relief and smiled over at Tigerpaw. She sniffed the air, opening her mouth a little, looking for any sign of prey.

Tigerpaw picked up the scent of rabbit, and she dropped into a hunter's crouch. She then stalked forward and followed the scent quietly, and slowly.

Ivypaw picked it up as well, but stopped herself when she saw Tigerpaw already going after it. She waited, ready to spring if it got away.

Tigerpaw felt the wind blowing away from her my scent is being blown to the rabbit..it'll sense me before I can leap.. she thought to herself, and scanned the area. She then got an idea, the apprentice then flicked her tail to Ivypaw and signaled her to move toward a thicket of tall grass. I can scare the rabbit into Ivypaw's paws if Ivypaw hides in the tall grass where the rabbit will run she observed, and saw that the tall patch of grass was the only area for the rabbit to flee.

Tigerpaw nodded, and burst out of the shadows. She leaped at the rabbit, and the rabbit squeaked in shock. It then dashed away from Tigerpaw, and ran into the grass patch near Ivypaw.

Ivypaw grabbed it, claws unsheathed, and brought it closer, killing it with a swift bite to the neck. She sat up with it in her jaws. "Got it!" She mumbled through the fur.

Tigerpaw bounded over "nice job" she said with a purr. She examined the rabbit "it's plump enough to fully feed Horizonfeather." She purred in triumph. "Let's keep going maybe we can find a great piece of prey for the elders"

Ivypaw nodded, putting the rabbit down. "Okay!" She purred, sniffing the air again. She picked up a faint trace of vole and headed off in that direction, ears pricked.

Tigerpaw buried the rabbit, and continued on. She went a different path than Ivypaw. The apprentice parted her jaws as well, and caught a few scents. Mouse, and some crowfood. She then followed the mouse scent, and saw the source of the crowfood smell. There was a vulture circling it from above.

Ivypaw's vole was in her sight, now. She dropped into a hunting position and crept forward, keeping low.

The vole had found some food, and was eating it, not paying attention to what was around it. She came closer, and closer... Until something in the bushes rustled and the vole ran away. Ivypaw huffed in disgust and looked at the bush for the culprit.

Tigerpaw stayed in the bushes just watching the vulture circle its prey. Then suddenly it swooped down on the crowfood, and caused Tigerpaw to stumble back slightly. The vulture then caught sight of her, and as if it decided against the rotting kill it went for her. Tigerpaw then began to run in an attempt to escape the vulture, but it sunk its talons into her back. Before she could lift off the apprentice thrashed wildly, and got a lucky hit. She managed to knock the breath out of the vulture in her struggle and sent them both crashing into the grass.

Ivypaw crashed through the grass only to see the crowfood. She scrunched up her nose in disgust and looked around, not seeing the two in the tall grass.

Tigerpaw panted, and looked at the vulture. The bird was breathing heavily, and it looked at Tigerpaw. The bird screeched, and made Tigerpaw draw her ears back in fear. She then ran at the bird, and snapped its neck before it could get back up. "Never let your guard down" she panted, and remembered Owlpaw's warning. Looking at the vulture, she sighed "can you even eat a vulture?"

"It's a vulture. They're hard to find, but when they show up, they eat crowfood. Though this one" she muttered calmly. "Wanted a taste for cat, and it tried to eat me...so I took it down" she sighed, "with a very lucky blow to it's chest.." she finished with a mutter.

"It'd be crowfood before the moon is up, but it will fill everyone's bellies if we can eat it..maybe we should ask Shellspeckle?" she suggested softly, and yawned.
