"Oh. Well, you seem pretty tired. Get some rest." he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. He turned on the TV, looking for something to watch. "This looks interesting." he set the remote down. It was basically a funny fail complication as a tv series. Except the people who submit the videos can earn some good cash.

Espy smiled in content, and watched the show for about ten minutes. Then she had fallen asleep. She nuzzled into Kain's side unconsciously, making a soft purring noise.

Kain had finished the show, after that he turned off the TV and fell asleep. He rested his head on Espy's. Diablo had already fallen asleep before Kain did, about halfway into the show.

Espy was curled up, floating in a pool of blackness. She opened her eyes and stretched out. She looked around and at her own body. She was wearing a white sundress and her hair was flowing around her. She let out a sigh. This was a dream she'd had before. 1... 2... 3. A dog, snarling and growling, jumped at her, and she shifted to the side. It was rabid and large, and it jumped again. She kicked it down, making it howl and vanish into the cold black abyss. She glanced around when... A male, one she knew, jumped at her, knife in hand. She looked up to meet Kain's eyes. Her she was shaking, both in the dream and in real life, and he laughed lowly. Raising his arm, he swung the knife down, Espy let out a yelp, and...
She woke up. She was shivering next to Kain lightly, and tears were rolling down her pale cheeks. She blinked a bit, and tried to stop her seemingly uncontrollable whimpering.

Kain woke up to the sound of Espy whimpering, turning to look at her he asked "Bad dream? Are you alright?" he wouldn't ask her about what it was. He respected her privacy.

Espy looked at Kain with wide eyes, before sighing. "Yeah... I'm sorry, I woke you." She replied, shifting. She wiped her tears off on the black hoodie, before laying her head back on Kain's shoulder lightly. She blinked a bit, her whimpering softer and quiet.

Was it just Kain's imagination.. or was she scared of him? "It's fine.. I've trained myself to wake instinctively. It helps when you're camping out in the woods, you never know what's out there y'know? Anyways.. I heard you whimpering, I thought something was wrong." he said.

"Yeah... Well, goodnight..." Espy said quietly, her voice an octave above a whisper. She nuzzled her head into Kain's side more, and sighed. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and snuggles him more, feeling a bit needy and pitiful.

"Goodnight." Kain whispered, closing his eyes.

He woke, back inside his house. "This dream again?" he looked around for any sign of his mother's corpse "Did she stop taunting me? Is it over?" he said, somewhat relieved. Suddenly, he felt a sharp , intense pain inside is chest. "Stop.. it hurts..." he gripped his chest.

He woke up, he was sweating, he felt lightheaded, and out of breath. "S-stupid.. this is so stupid." he said quietly, gripping his chest.

Espy felt Kain shift as she snuggled him, and she looked up at him with confused hazel eyes. "Ar-are you ok-okay, Kain?" She asked softly, blinking a few times.

Espy was a bit shocked by his first question, but she shook it off. Unwrapping him in her arms, she stood. "Yeah, I'll go grab some." She said sharply, before scampering if to the kitchen as quickly as she could. She was dizzy from standing up so fast, and her vision was blanking in and out. She leaned on the counter until the black dots faded slowly.

"Thanks." he said, he took out his pocket knife, unsheathed it and stabbed himself in the chest. Hey, the pain was gone. That worked. "Hey, Esp! It's alright! I stabbed myself in the chest. The pain's gone." he said. It hurt pretty bad, but at least his regeneration was keeping him alive. If not, the wound would've killed him.

'I stabbed myself in the chest...' Espy didn't even hear the last few words as she raced to the living room, practically pouncing on Kain. Her legs were on either side of his hips as she snatched up the front of his jacket. "Kain! Don't do that. Don't just stab yourself over chest pain, you scared the hell out of me!" She yelled, glaring at him fiercely. "I don't care if you can regenerate, you can't just do that! Anything's possible, and your life is precious to me! We never know if our powers stop working any second or month from now! So never do that! P-please..." Her voice broke at the end, little oily tears springing to her eyes.

"Stop, the knife is still intact." Kain pulled it out. "There." he didn't struggle against Espy, he put his knife in his pocket and stared at her. "Stabbing yourself solves all your problems, literally. Well, almost all your problems. And, I'm pretty sure if our powers vanished I would be a dead man by now. I've had mine for a while." he noticed she was about to cry his expression turning serious "Esp.. it's no biggie.. I'm alive see? Look, I already know my limits. And that stabbing is like a paper cut. This power is as close to immortality as I'm gonna get.. I mean I'm pretty sure my lifespan has increased." he said that last part quietly. He wrapped her in a hug "I know what this is about.. I won't leave you. I promise."

Espy tried not to cry as she buried her pale face into the crook of his neck. "Y-you don't kn-know that... Everyone le-left, some on ac-accident..." She said hoarsely, her voice sounding broken and soft.

Espy let out a soft breath before answering. "You mean a lot to me, okay? When you walked out of my life, my depression reached an all-time peak. I don't want to lose someone who means the world to me." She said, her voice quick and her blushing face hidden by his shoulder.

Espy nodded and crossed her legs behind Kain's back. She put her head against his chest, closing her eyes. His heartbeat was rhythmical, and was like a lullaby.
