No support.

This is a free website for everyone. You don't have to be friends with everybody.

@stitch, but you do have to follow the rules, no?

Major support, this really needs to be implemented as I've had some newer users beg me for items, and the latest drama proves that some users (not dropping any names) have been using not reading the rules as an excuse and such.

I get beggars constantly too. It's called ignoring...don't associate with people breaking the rules. It's not that hard. Seriously. Once again, no support.

I like it with Navus's addition, but to be honest rather then look through tedious forums when so new to the site, often asking new friends you've made about parts of the site, isn't a terrible idea, you might have a help forum but a question here or there wont kill anyone unless they're texting and driving. I'd keep it in tutorials at the end of them, once you make the account, and get so far, most people are too committed at that point to not just take the lil quiz, heck, offer a little pd for doing it to help them get started, the reward system is beneficial. Even though i support it I'd like to point out I used to do homework in school and couldn't tell you what the answers were without reading my answer sheet, so even in doing this there will still be alot who can pass and have no clue... it might help, but it wont fix it completely, but help is still good and I'll support a positive change

I'm actually really against this.

My primary reason falls under the "this is going to scare off newer users" thing. A lot of people find it daunting, even intimidating, to assimilate into a large and growing community. As someone who suffers from anxiety in large portions of my life, I can tell you I absolutely would not stay on a site that "quizzed" me on the rules, because from that point forth I would be terrified of breaking them in every single thing I did throughout my interactions on the site. I doubt I would be the only one.

Additionally, I don't think it will serve the purpose it is proposed for.

From what I'm understanding, the majority of people are unhappy about the begging PMs/messages. This is understandable. I completely sympathize with that. However, quizzing someone on the rules is not going to stop them from begging, because 9 times out of 10, it's not a lack of knowledge of the rules that leads to that behavior; it's much more simply put as a complete disregard for said rules.

I think that adding a sticky warning on the forums would be more ideal, and less invasive, than a quiz. Similar to the "Did you know? You can use BBCodes [...]" message, only "Please remember all forum posts must obey the rules of PokeHeroes" with a link. A similar message could be popped up when you purchase a PalPad and maybe it could be possible to implement a system that if you abuse PalPad enough, you lose access to it.

Ultimately, my issue is the concept of a test. I agree drawing more attention to the rules is important, but I think a test will do nothing more than intimidate and chase away people.

Surprisingly my first thing to do on this site after joining WAS to read the rules x'D
But i can see this... I support it to an extent, but like Raiko said, rather then shove the rules in their face when they first sign up do it before they make their first forum post, or lock forum posting until they've read and agreed to the rules and answered some questions to verify if they did or not.

I've seen forums that have stated the rules as a user agreement upon joining and that you'd be rejected if you didn't agree, it seems a bit more logical then a quiz but then again not at the same time, because you know... who of us has actually ever read a 6 paragraph rules and user agreement page? Don't we all just hit "I agree" and not read it anyways... So a quiz seems proper in this sense, they actually have to read the rules to answer the questions correctly, instead of reading a massive essay sized user terms and agreement page or just skipping it and saying they agree.

As for what Noir said above me as well, That can be true but if they're forced to take a quiz on the rules of the site and read the rules then you can just report them if they break the rules... because you know telling someone "Did you read the rules? You'll know this is against them and next time i'll report you for it" has never worked. They know your serious so they go and do it to another person instead of you, when they shouldn't be doing it at all. It's a common case around beggars for money, pokemon and nuggets; so in that case this would be very helpful. I can't see where anxiety comes in here though? I have it (especially when confronted by admins, even if it's a friendly thing) and I dread every waking moment I'll get yelled at by somebody xD

But being forced to read the rules would have actually helped me, because i'd know they exist and that I can look at them if i'm unsure if I was breaking them or not. If anything it'd be helpful for those with anxiety I think, that may just be me who was feeling better knowing there were rules and where to find them, but... yea.

We need something that proves you read and understood the rules - and a quiz is just that
Though it could scare off users, it tells people that the rules are a thing

Also, maybe like 1 or 2 nuggets for completing it, like the verify email? Maybe just a first time thing
keep livin'. keep dreamin'.
