•• Disable Messages ••

I think we should have an option to disable messages. Once you've disabled your messages, other users wont be able to send any to you.

This could be quite useful since there are, or may be in the future, people begging you for money or pokemon. This chould be useful for many other reasons too. Maybe someone doesn't bother with them, or don't normally read them or reply to them.

There could also be another option, where only your friends can send you messages.
(If you add them & they add you).
Only your friends will be able to send you messages, and not random people.

If somebody is begging you for something and won't listen and won't stop, you can report that user.
We always deal with things like that accordingly.

Thats not the whole point -.-
That was just one example. And I didn't say that happens to everyone. I was just giving some points.

It will be more cool to ban a member if you don't want him message

I support this. I cant even begin to count the number of begging messages I've gotten, and I don't have the time to reply and/or report all of them. I would rather just have the option to disable the messages all together, or like you said, only be able to message mutual added friends.

I really don't know how many times I have to repeat this to people.

I support this idea as well :3 I recently received a few strange messages, and I would like to block that person from messaging me....

@master-of-master, it's not cool to ban a menber, what if someone got you banned? Would you still think it was cool?

I agree with Tina.
Banning isn't always the answer, when it's only to do with messages.
Banning is also not cool at all. Moderators don't like banning at all, when when they need to, they do it.
But banning people because they send messages isn't a great conclusion.

Oh, I know there would be other uses for it. I'm just speaking from personal experience and explaining how it would personally help me out :3

For be honest, I don't support this, I'm agree with honi; I got all days random pms if you don't want to talk just ignore them.\r\nMaybe if you can 'ban' specific users from message you.

I could support only muting specific users so they won't be able to write anymore to you.
The idea where only friends can message you isn't the best idea because sometimes you eg. forget to reply in your trading thread and then person who wanted to buy from you couldn't PM you about it, this is only an example but there could be endless other situations like this and sometimes you meet friends this way, not through the forums - and if someone is not your friend he wouldn't be able to anymore (and there are some ppl who don't like to write on forums and make their writings visible to everybody, they prefer to stay private).

I somewhat support this, I agree with Yoru on the idea of blocking specific users rather than all of them.

@AutumnStar

This isn't exactly blocking users :P
This is just, in general, disabling everyone from messaging you. Or so only your friends could message you :3

I'm sorry, but I can't really support this. Sometimes, PMs is the only way of telling someone something important. Also, what if they PM you something? Will it be possible to respond?

Ohhhhh it's about disabling all messages! :p In that case, I don't support, since that's kinda pointless. I would support it if you could disable only certain people from messaging you.

I DO support a "foes" list so you can block out certain users from messaging you (except mods of course).
I DON'T support the "only friends can message me", though.

an alert going to mods that a user was blocked and a note from the blocker on exactly why the person blocked was blocked would be good, that way if multiple people are blocking one person, we can check it out and speak to that person to help correct their behavior and prevent more people from needing to block them, we can't help if we don't know what's going on

no support for 'only friend messages' though, blocking -everyone- just comes off as unfriendly and closed off and that's not a vibe we want the community of this site to present

I do support what AutumnStar said, however. That would prevent people from just randomly blocking people for no good reason.
