Harlow finally makes it over. She stands in the back of the group with her arms crossed. She just wants this to be over with. The sooner, the better.

"Ladies" Ryder says to the group that passes him. He tips his hand forward as if he were tipping an invisible hat at them. He opens his palm at the last moment and does a mocking bow. "You like what you see?" He asks. He straightens up and gives them a charming smile. He no longer cares what they think of him. Maybe this is the alcohol talking, but he will win these games. Once he does girls like these will be crawling all over him.

Tempest's eyes widen at the girl that passes her. The looks so mature and calm, she couldn't help but envy her confidence. Her cheeks redden in shame. She suddenly drops her hands from her parents grip. They both shoot her a confused look but they don't say anything of it. Tempest tries to mimic the girl's posture but she feels silly and stops after a few seconds. 'She'd probably win these games no problem' Tempest thinks to herself with a feeling of shame. 'I should've been training like she has. Instead of being a little bookworm..'

Buying his flowers, Shion smiled and waved to the shop owner, running back to his home. There he placed the flowers by a ratty old photo of his brother, smile saddening. "It's that time of year again." He murmured, clapping his hands together. "Keep up safe, Avenir. Please." Letting the small prayer linger for a moment, Shion straightened his jacket and turned around to herd the rest of his family off to the reaping.

With her piece done, Kardia dropped the pottery down by her Master's feet, shucking off the apron.
"Kardia, be safe." Her master called, placing a callused hand on her shoulder. "I know I say this every year, but please wear the pin I gave you. I don't want you to be picked"
Kardia rolled her eyes and flicked back her Scarlett hair, displaying the white Heather pin that had been stabbed into her lobe.
"Don't worry, your chram hasn't failed me yet." She smirked putting her own hand over her Master's. "I'll come back alive, don't worry."
Leaving the forge with a wave, Kardia dropped by her house to grab the dress she was given grimacing at the tight bodice and restrictive look. She'd much rather just go in a suit jacket but rules were rules. She pinned a Gladiolus to her chest, nodding once before striding off to the reaping

The girl sat down on a nearby bench and watched Talla punch the punching bag. The child was lugging a bag filled with drawings and skteches. She pulled out a paper and started sketching. "I wanna be an artist when I grow up, but mom and dad want me to fight with others, but I dont like fighting."

A girl Harlow's age looked at her. "Good luck."

The girls giggle and blush at Ryder's banner as they hurried off.

Someone called out to her, Tempest heard the name Ariel. The red haired girl didn't miss a beat as spun on heel and looked at whoever called her. After a short conversation, Ariel turned back around and caught Tempest in her line of sight, the eyes were seemingly innocent and harmles, but Tempest could see the threat of danger like that of a incoming storm in there as well. Tempest actually thought that this girl would try something, but instead, Ariel just winked at her a bit smuggly then headed to the square with a laugh.

"Alice." The girl responded no looking up from her paper.

Dixie found Maddy training and sat down in a nearby tree to watch, but not disturb Maddy. She learned a while back that it wasn't the best idea to bother Maddy while she was training, Maddy almost got hurt like that once.

"You as well" Harlow replies respectfully. 'Although I don't need any luck' she thinks to herself.

Ryder grins as he walks in their direction. He quickly loses them. Normally he would be saddened by that. Not today, today he would be doing the games. He has no time for pointless flirting.

Tempest glares at Ariel's back. 'What was up with her?' Tempest wonders. She hated how that girl could freak her out with one look. What if she is chosen? If a simple glance could knock her down how would she survive against somebody who was actually trying to kill her? Suddenly she felt sick. Fortunately for her, they had come to a stop. People stood around her as they anxiously waited to see what would happen. Tempest shuts her eyes and tries to stop a panic attack. "It's okay, it's okay" she whispers to herself over and over again until she felt better.

She suddenly stopped when she heard someone reply. The voice didn’t sound like any of the men, so who was it? How did they break into their house? “Y-yeah, I’m alright!” She replied, standing patiently in front of the door. Hope began to rise within her, like a fire that had been ignited on a pile of logs soaked in gasoline. This person seemed kind, if that was even a thing. It’s been so long, she almost forgot what kindness was. She sighed and gently placed her hand on the door.

(We'll hold off on the reaping in the districts until everyone's ready, I know Gecko might not be quite yet.)


The trainers ordered everyone to get ready for the reaping as it would be starting soon, at the same time Alice finished the rough sketch she had been working on as Talla had been practicing on the punching bag. An older guy about Talla's age standing behind Alice as she examined her work before promptly snatching it from her. "The hell is this? You're suposed to be training, not screwing off."

"Please give that back." Alice begged, only for the man to sneer in a clearly mimiced tone of her begging before ripping the paper in half. Alice fought back the welling tears, trying not to cry.

"What? You gonna cry now, cry baby?" He jabbed a finger to her chest with a bit more force then needed. "No wonder you're such a reject." He gave a laugh and left tossing the ripped drawing behind him carelessly. One of the pieces landed face up and Talla could see that it had been of her, and it was remarkibly good for her age.

The girl saw the door barricaded and undid it before opening the door. "What even happened? Someone lock you in?"

“I talked back to someone, so I ended up here...” she muttered, looking up at the girl with a hopeful smile. “Thank you, I appreciate it.” She said before stepping out of the door. She was relieved to be out of that place, it was too creepy for her. “We need to be quiet and get out of here, they’ll be back anytime soon...” she informed her.

After they finally got out, Miko let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you...” she finally said. The only clothes she had were the tattered ones she was wearing now. Thank goodness, if she had other clothes she would have to go back inside and get them.

He scoffed at Talla in anoyance, but he couldn't hide his smirk. "I already did." Alice was picking up the two ripped pieces of the drawing and carefully used some of her magic to put it back together.

Dixie smiled and got down. "I couldn't sleep. I just keep hearing my name getting picked, it's a miracle that I haven't been picked already. Have you been training all night?"

"You're welcome, are you gonna be okay?" The girl asked Miko.

Alice watched the guy leave, a trainer gave Talla a warning look for her and Alice to leave but said nothing as he started shutting up the area for the Reaping.

Dixie nodded and fought back tears as a thought came to her. "What if we both get picked? Then what?"

“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” She smiled and continued to look at the girl. “So... the Reaping is today...” she said, excitement blended in with sadness and nervousness. “People will die, but I’ll be sure to win...” she quietly added, realizing that she gave away the fact that she was going to Volunteer.
