Frustration in deed. Makes you wonder if they are even seeing them or reading them to begin with :/

I believe it important to point out that many people join just to see what it’s about and then decide they don’t like it, or change their mind, or realize they set up their account wrong and because it’s so new, they just don’t... if that makes sense? They just make a new one? They may also not like their starter so they make a new account to get one they like, unaware of the way to “pick” your starter... if that makes sense.

If it hadn't been for my kids I would have had no idea how to get started with PH. I found it rather confusing and when the tutorial ended I was left feeling like "Now what???" I would have loved having a mentor to ask questions and help get going proper.

Totally agree with you. Back when I joined I was super confused but I quickly made a friend because she kept last minute sniping me over at the AH. I’ve asked her so many questions over the years. I’m quite embarrassed because past me was quite childish. Lol. But she helped me a lot and I’m so greatful’

Hey, so I joined about a week ago but I'll be honest, I was not impressed by my mentor. Other than welcoming me, I was still left to flounder around. I even tried giving my mentor openings to be like "Hey! You can do this!" but my mentor was rather meh. I felt it was more of a job to mentor me than a volunteered role.

Just you know, some newbies, (like me!) did want to talk back to their mentor.

I am glad that some newbies like to talk with their mentors! That’s great. And hey, if you ever need help, hit me up in a PM or PalPad message, ok? Love to help you if you need! I’m glad there are some people, like yourself, who want our help. It’s awesome because it means we get to help! We were just pointing out that it’s really like a 1 in 10 sort of deal. You know? :) It’s like, we don’t have a ton of newbies who seem to want our help wether it be they don’t see it or they quit. :) does that make sense?

Yeah it does! I was honestly surprised when I saw my mentor message me. I just figured, "Hey, why not? If anything, my mentor can tell me how to play around with the site!" There really isn't much we can do at the beginning :P

I think I figured out almost everything, except the fountain and earning more PD. But I love to send you a message if need to!

Thank you so much. I truly do like helping people find their way on here. It has been an interesting 3+ years, Some days I still feel like a newbie myself :P

I think that the part of the tutorial that has you looking for new friends is a way for some to get mentored in a way aside from this program. While I am not a fan of "hi" messages but if you're new, it might be the only way they know to ask for help but I won't shoo them away if that's what happens. I've made some good friends from a couple of those "hi" messages ♥

So I think I found another reason people aren’t responding! I don’t think they know what ther PM’s are/they don’t know to check them. I think a good way to fix that would be to have part of the tutorial be “reply to your PM from your mentor” or something like that, because I feel like a lot of them don’t even know we exist, you know? Most of mine have completed the tutorial but I can’t get in touch with them because they don’t see my message and there isn’t another way to talk to them really. And I sent friend requests too. They saw those and added me so... it’s not like they are ignoring everything... you know?

I know when you get a PM the envelope lights up but the top bar is rather crowded with icons and it might be confusing for them. Not sure but perhaps something in the tutorial about PMs would be helpful.

I don't think every single new person gets a mentor as there are tons of people joining each day but it would be helpful to have something there to let them know about PP/PMs.

There are also tons of us though. Should we try to develop the idea of it being in true tutorial and make a proper suggestion? I think that’s the only logical way to do this...

Cool idea! I was pounced by a mentor pretty much the moment I signed up, though they haven’t really done much to help when I’ve asked :x

@Pr0v3n - Mentors are given 10 minutes to set a message to the new player so yeah it can feel that way :P

I'm sorry your mentor has't been of much help. If you have any questions or need anything please feel free to contact me PP/PM 8) (Y)

This is just a suggestion, I'm honestly not sure if it'll make a difference to newbies.

A lot of mentors seem to say 'Let me know if you have any questions!', which isn't bad, but newbies don't know enough to ask questions. But we can introduce them to the events that are happening in PH, most new people don't know what kind of things they can enjoy here.

- "Do you know about the Zeraora event? This is how it works!"
- "Hey, bug-catching is happening in Emera Square! You should totally join! You can get a Meloetta egg if you get enough festival points!"
- "Hey, a secret way to earn PD (PokeDollars) is to interact/sell stuff, what kind of stuff? Well..."
- "Are you an artist or a spriter? There's groups and even the spriting event going on right now!"

These are things that kind of just happen but are very easy to miss. You can even encourage the newbies to get higher levels so they can unlock features.
