to add images, use [ img]image code[/ img] without the spaces. i, sadly, don't know the code to add gifs. a helpful resource would be the bbcode list, posted here!

It's the same code for gifs (;
Just make sure you actually use the img-url [ends in .jpg/.png/.gif ] and not the host url, which is the url where the site itself displays it. They're not always the name.
