Today I was playing my Pokemon Platinum game and I came across a shiny geodude! I was pretty excited so i was about to go and catch it and iT SELF DESTRUCTED!

So, has anyone else had a similar experience?

I just encountered a Shiny Floatzel on Pokemon Y in a mass fight... but because I was doing some internet stuff + Television at the same time, I just defeated it with a mass-attack (originally to train my Pokemon) and only saw the Shiny when the attack already started T_T

When I killed a shiny because I wasn't paying attention to what I was fighting and I think it was a shiny Bellsprout

I killed no shinies that I know of but I pay don't pay much attention while safari shiny hunting because they are so common (I got a shiny in ivysaur and sunkern from the same safari)

Finding a shiny in the safari zone would probably be such an intense situation because there's always the chance of it running away

The only shiny I ever found was a shiny Krabby on my Crystal. It was asleep, yellow hp bar... And my Quilava decides its fire attack was a good time to critical hit.

I went to viridian to train my new pokemon and it was the moment a shiny rat came. My weezing thinks that its a great target for sludge attack. ;_;

spent three hours looking for a shiny eevee in omegaruby only to have my level 2 Torchic one hit ok the thing because the torchic loved me so much and thought that this would please me for some reason. :/

I was doing that escort mission in Pinwheel Forest in White 2, where Cheren follows you to go look for Team Plasma or something. I encountered a shiny Vigoroth...

I was safari hunting for shiny Ninetales as a gift to a friend annnnd I clicked Run instead of Bag. ;-;

Pichu was the one, and only, shiny I've found in a handheld pokemon game. I was participating in a pokemon catching contest in one of the parks and, instead of false swipe, I accidentally hit slash... instant KO and I have only found shinnies on fan made games since.

I found a shiny eevee while playing X/Y, but it was male. I was using weak attacks on my Amaura I had gotten. Well, Aquamarine, you KO'ed my perfect chance.

So, I remembered this thread and decided to share my heart wrenching tale that just unfolded. I restarted Pokemon Godra (a fan made game) and I've been training to defeat the Shadowfell gym leader. I happened upon a shiny cottonee (a pokemon that I adore) and I was really excited, had the HP down, and was lucky enough to have froze it. Now, previously I had just caught a venipede (because I figured a bug type would help against a dark type gym leader) and used a great ball to do it...that great ball just so happened to be the last pokeball I had...I'm going to go die a slow remorseful death now.

A few years ago, I was shiny chaining on my Platinum version while skyping with friends (we all were shiny chaining, tbh) and I found several shiny Budew until my chain broke. Around 3, if I remember correctly. So we were done with all of our chains and decided to call it a day and ended the Skype call. I turned off my DS and went to bed. On the next day, I wanted to check on the shinies I caught, so I turned on the DS and noticed I was still standing in the Eterna Forest even though I was pretty sure I went outside after ending the chain. So I went to the nearest Pokémon Center to check on the shinies and well .. there was only one. I remember saving after the first shiny I caught but must've missed saving the game again after I caught the other two. Well. At least I had one, right? :b

Then, on another day (again skyping with the same friends), I shiny chained Houndour. I caught one shiny. The second shiny decided to use Roar on me. >->
Because my Pokémon were on such high levels, they would take down the Houndour on the first hit already and so I completely forgot they were capable of using Roar until that one shiny used it on me. :'D

I found a shiny ditto in pokemon soul silver (my first game), but at the time I didn't know about shinies. I did know about different forms though, and I thought this was just a different form of ditto. I proceeded to run, and tried to look for one of a higher level. Needless to say, I didn't find one.
