Roxy hurried into the hospital, dashing into Elvira's room. "Nat?
You okay? Is Elvira okay? No one came in, did they? Did anything
happen?" Roxy asked, pupils blown wide in panic. "Gods he...you
both are okay?"
Nat leapt from her seat as Roxy burst in. "I'm okay, she's okay, no
one came in except a nurse who checked her vitals, and other than
that nothing happened. We are both okay." She moved over to Roxy
and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Roxy, are you okay?"
Roxy jumped before hugging Nat, making sure the door stayed closed.
"I need to warn Tana...it's...Nat, there is this guy. Though, I
suppose he could be a woman...I am not sure exactly what they wish
to identify as, anyway, they attacked El and I. I found you this
morning because I smelled him or her entering that building. I had
wanted to find them. I did...and drew their attention. He came to
warn me. Threaten me. Threaten your life and Elvira's said he was
coming here. I don't think I would have beat him...something is
up..." She murmured.
Nat hugged her tightly. "No one has come into the room other than
that nurse, and that was a long while ago, and you. I swear that if
this person desires to bring you or El harm, they will find my
teeth and claws instead." Her voice had dropped a few tones and she
spoke with almost a hiss to her words.
They are a telepath. They keep taking control over us and using us
like puppets. I haven't been able to get a hit in otherwise," Roxy
murmured, realizing this man could just waltz in whenever by
controlling people. "Damn..." She whispered.
"The white coats said that mind control didn't work very well on
me, they didn't say why, but that's why I was kept in a cage since
I couldn't have my mind controlled." Nat looked over to El then
back to Roxy. "I won't let them hurt you."
"I did, thank you. It's all back and settled at the parking garage.
I'm going to let the head nurse know not to let anyone else back
here. Then maybe see about getting dinner," Roxy told her.
"That's why I was going to run and grab something from the
cafeteria. Not the best food but it'll do in a pinch and I won't be
gone from you long," Roxy said. "Right after I finish freaking out.
I think I need to just sit here a moment..." She murmured. Slowly,
she began to relax. But he was lurking, lulling her into what he
thought was just the onslaught of sleep.
Nat nodded. "That's a good idea," She smiled and helped her get
into a chair before taking the other for herself. "Don't worry,
I'll keep watch." She looked over to the door before turning her
gaze to observe Roxy.
Roxy shook her head, frowning. Slowly, the handle on the door
turned. Quickly, someone darted into the room, looking first
towards the bed then to Roxy. It was the political figure.
Smirking, he advanced towards Elvira. "Thank you for leading me
here, my dear little shapeshifter. And it would appear you've got
my pet. Sit, girl. I'll get to you in a moment."
Nat was instantly to her feet when the suit walked in. "I'm not
your pet." Before he could focus his powers on her, she almost
doubled in size, her skin growing thick scales and a snout pushed
out her face a bit. Claws tipped her fingers, and a long powerful
crocodile tail swung out behind her. "I am Nat." She snarled baring
her teeth, daring him to make a move.
"You're a science experiment. You're a test tube experiment that we
let overgrow. But I digress. Stop this nonsense and sit down. I'll
deal with you after I teach that one not to mess with my business,"
he snarled, drawing himself to his full height and trying to thrust
his will on her mind. Of course, it didn't really work.
Nat winced and clutched her head in her large hands as she felt the
invasion of his mind and the strength of his will. "Get out!" She
growled as she lashed out at him, her claws aiming right for his
head.
A shrill, feminine shriek left his lips as he ducked. "It can't
be...stupid thing!" He growled, turning to hightail it out of
there. He'd have to think of some other way to knock Nat out and
take care of her new protectors.
Roxy, now free of his control, jumped up, hugging Nat. "My god.
Thank you! You're okay? He didn't do any harm when he attacked, did
he?"
