I've noticed that all the gems in the item market are super expensive, and it's kind of annoying, because they're all above their recommended price that's given. Maybe I sound a bit like a child, but I don't really feel like that's fair. Could somebody explain it to me?

Probably depends on what kind of gems you'll obtain, the gem rewards will be at random.

Because Gems are mostly used for making Shiny Hunts easier (getting Eggs from Gem Collector) and generally getting the legendary bird trio eggs (which require a large amount of gems for a single egg). That's why people buy the properly prized Gems, and only the expensive ones are left.

Best method is to set up a filter on your item market, so you get notifications when your desired Gems are up for a reasonable prize
