"I once dreamt of flying, only to fall and never touch the sky again"

Hurried footsteps rang through the empty alleyway, it's sudden thuds scaring away the resting creatures of the nights who scurried away from the two running individuals. The rain poured hard, beating against the two men who, with nothing to shield them from the merciless torrent except the wings of the aviam among the two.

Azrael looked around the new environment, the world beyond the white padded walls and the bars of the lab he was born and raised in. The neon lights and the busy streets of the city awed him, captivating him with it's beauty.

He got too distracted and tripped, falling face flat into a puddle. He spat out pieces of gravel and rainwater that managed to get into his mouth, hissing as he felt a burning pain in his knee. He definitely scraped it, but it wasn't anything to worry about. Surely enough, the injury healed as soon as it came and the intense throb lessened and went away entirely. He quickly got up and followed his partner, definitely not looking forward to getting lost in the bustling city.

The two retreated into a seemingly abandoned apartment, though the other man had claimed it to be his hideout of some sorts. The two made their way in.

Azrael, exhausted, slumped against the wall, panting heavily from all the running and adrenaline pumping through his veins. His head throbbed and he silently worried about what happened to Aki. He had ordered Lysander to take Azrael and fly him all the way to the city from the lab situated on a distant island. He knew Aki could handle and take on more than that but...

The sound of a flame coming to life brought him back into the present as the once cold fireplace was lit, the blaze that burnt illuminating the room in a warm glow. Azrael approached the other man who was sitting by the fire, drying his damp wings from flying in the heavy rain. He sat down besides him, staring at the dancing flames in the somewhat comforting silence.

"T-thanks, Lysander, for taking me this far," he started, unsure of what to say. He was too tired to think of the right words, but he wanted to express his gratitude for helping him, from breaking him free. He enjoyed the comfort as the two huddled by the fire.
