I feel like I fall into the category of a casual player of Pokémon. I’ve played through at least one game of every generation, and will do, always. SWSH is my first generation of completion. Meaning, I’ve completed a Pokédex for the first time. I’m shiny hunting with best odds for the first time. I’m hunting competitive mons for the first time...(this is particularly crazy for me.)

Let me digress. When I was very young, playing Pokémon Blue on my Gameboy Color... It wasn’t nearly on my radar that at 30, I’d still be fanatical over these games.

This all somehow brings me to my point. Is this franchise a joke? Hear me out. Because all of my issues with the series, are 100% geared towards the devs.

The economy in Pokémon is cancerous. If you have something, anything at all that anyone is interested in, a “fair” trade is to good to be true. It would be hard for any sensible, legit player of this series to disagree with me here. As a community, Pokémon fails to provide an awarding gaming experience as an interactive, community game.

I would ignore all of the failure involved with the interactivity, except competitive online play. And with that, official tournament play. Excuse my language, but it really fucking sucks that Pokémon will never be considered in true professional gaming because of its horrendous cheating culture. Anything good that happens to you while interacting with other players of this game, are probably soiled by cheating, and hacking.

It’s all rantings, what I’ve said. But it sucks. Every time I’m grinding for a shiny. Every time I’m grinding for a competitive mon. Every time I’m just trying to obtain a rare mon, all I’m thinking about is how easily obtainable all of this work is, through hacking.
