So I restated X recently and caught Xern. Then Lysandre says that he will fire the weapon and make you all immortal as a kind of punishment. But then we escape and nothing is really mentioned about it again.

Until after you beat the game and beat your rival in the postgame city. They send you to the Prof at the sundial who specifically says that you can now go find megastones because you were exposed to the energies of the ultimate weapon.

And it just got me thinking, that the PC, Shauna and your rival are all immortals because the three of you were all there and upon looking at the cutscene again, there is no way they got out of there in time to escape the energy. (And apparently didn’t since that was the reason given that you can find megastones now)

Just some food for thought.
