Isla hovered near the Kingdom Entrance, a cross look already set into her face as she listens to the guards. "Do you expect me not to have one?" she grumbles, almost as if to herself. "For Arceus' sake..." But she apparently decides against anger, and plucks a card from her pocket and holds it out. “My name is Isla Greer," she states. "17 Years Old. Female. I was born in Hoehn. My dream is none of your business-" a pause- "But... whatever. I just want to get stronger... win..." Her fingers clench into a fist and she gives a tight smile. A step closer, her face nearly in theirs now. "I am a Pumpkaboo.” She scowls. "Was that not obvious? Real bright of you two. Can I go into the kingdom now? I assure you, regardless of your brainlessness, you can clearly see I have reliable credentials if..." she trails off and instead decides to shift a little to the side, waiting for a response.

It's a wonder how these guards can get anything done, she thinks. What Pokemon couldn't climb over these stupid walls and get inside. But as she watches, a Pidgey tries to fly over. She watches, hypnotized, as something repells it, and it falls to the ground. She masks a shudder. Great start to a kingdom, guys.

But this was the place. This was the place she'd read about. The place she had to go. If she wanted to truly get stronger... to truly show up Him. Her teeth clench.

She jerks back to reality as she realizes the guard is speaking.

The cave mouth loomed overhead, craning its giant skull upwards, as if devouring those whom stepped inside. Visible teeth (stalactites) jutted out of the rock, dangling down, ready to sink into the one foolish enough to step inside.

Luther shivered, licking his chest fur, in a vain attempt to warm it, as the freezing crept through his thin silver fur. Stupid, he thought, irritated. Why couldn't his body match his mind? Why did it have to be so... well, cold, maybe.. but scared, no, that would have to be something else... And he wasn't scared! Stupid kingdom people, they probably had something to do with this... even if he hadn't seen them yet.

Before his brain could crack down on his sanity even further, he ducked inside the cave mouth and hurried down the halls glancing from side to side, making sure the shadows were just shadows.

At last, he came to a fork in the tunnels.

Water dripped off down one tunnel. The other had a faint glow. Both were indicative... He hesitated, and checked his card again. The directions...

He turned left at the fork, heading toward the glow. As he did so, two guards came into view. He stopped before them. They towered over his slight form, and he nearly cringed, but his eyes narrowed instead. He took a step closer.

Then he beamed at them. "Hiya! I'm Luther! Call me Luth, if you want, friends! I'm a super cool, fashionable male Glameow, maybe about 17 years old, who came here all the way from Sinnoh to make some friends!" Liar, he thought, and immediately hated himself for the thought. Stupid guards, stupid... stupid... why should you act for them? You'll never see them again. They're probably jerks anyway...

But for some reason, something in him... wanted their affection desperately. Their love.

Love...

Such an overrated word. The only thing that could be counted on was pain. Hatred from everyone. No one truly cared about each other, unless they were an idiot. You could only pretend.

Pretend...

Like one of those happy books his sister loved. She was so stupid... what did she think that two stray Glameows set in the foster system could ever have in this horrible world?

World...

The world belonged to no one. Least of all him. The hatred he held suspended in his heart... The world could hardly wish to touch that, only the veneer he held over his face. Hatred... the world...

He hated the world with everything he had. He didn't want its love. He didn't want the love of anyone.

Rosie skipped down the hall, humming under their breath. Oh, what a silly entrance! It's so- They gulped as a drop of water landed on their head. Real? It really did look like a cave. Like the cave a scary Beartic would be inside... ready to devour a cute Oddish going about their day...

They jumped, releasing a squeak from their throat as an enormous form towered over them-

No words? For the cute oddish? Oh well. Probably just a stupid guard, they thought with a pompous sniff. Those mystery cuties at the parties have it right for sure... don't talk to losers.

"Hello!" they chirped. "I'm Rosie! An Oddish." They smiled at the guard.

The Dragonite continued waiting.

Well that's rude. Rosie frowned. Then it occurred to them. Oh! They parted the leaves on their head, tipping their head forward, and the card plopped inside the Dragonite's talons.

"14 years old," they exclaimed. "Non-binary, they them, please! And-" after a moment of thought. "I'm from Unova. I'd like to get higher in the society and make lots of friends." They smiled charmingly. And be as perfect and cute as always! Look! I'm even shiny!
