I looked around the room, finally taking in the magnitude of the whole situation. "I'm gonna be staying here for multiple years while studying shapeshifting." I took in the room and made a mental checklist of things I knew my room would need to make sure I had made it all. Privacy? Yep. I had a heavy, magically-fortified doorlock and three layers of curtains over the ornate windows that stood out against the calm, average designs of everything else. A thin curtain merely for lighting options, a normal curtain for decent privacy and light blocking, and blackout curtains that didn't let any light pass through. Resting comfort? Check, I had a bunk bed, various blankets, a few comforters that I like using as blankets, bean bag couch, pillows, and a few stuffed animals. Entertainment? Yep, I had plenty of things for all sorts of interests not to mention access to games, tv, and internet. Everything else was average room stuff. Lights and that kind of thing. "Welp, time to unpack." I picked up the camping pack I used for things I brought from home and began to unload. Clothes, snacks, school supplies, a few books, some other trinkets, and at the front pocket, place carefully without anything else around to damage it, a jewelry box. I smiled as I set the box on my desk carefully and pulled out an amber necklace. I felt a sudden wave of shock that came with realization. Don't we have dormmates? I walked over to the door and unlocked it, hoping and praying that the person who came in would be nice and share interests with me. That's when I noticed the door. The third door in the room, leading to who-knows-where. No, I know where. 28B. My dormmate was in the dorm next to me, no wonder I didn't see someone elses things anywhere here.


Serenice ~ Guidance Counselor

With the knocks, a woman looked up. She had beady eyes that seemed out of place for the rest of her character, an introverted librarian type with a similar build. She got up with a forced stride, when really she would kill to walk normally. With one swift hand motion, she opened the door. "Yes?"

A rather tall, awkward looking boy stood in front of her. Sweaty, pale hands reached up to adjust glasses that were slipping down his somewhat hooked nose. "Uh... yes... hello... I'm Adrik," he introduced. He managed a small smile. "I lost my dorm assignment. Do you think-"

His adam's apple visibly bobbed as he swallowed.

"That I might be able to get a new copy?"

"Of course, come in!" With a still-forced stride, she walked over to the computer and began rooting through the student files. A few seconds later, a paper popped out of the printer. "Here you go!" She handed the paper to him.

Adrik snatched it from her and wrapped both arms around it, holding it to his chest. "Thank you so much!" He felt like hugging her. "Oh Gods, thank you so much- er-" He coughed. "What was your name again-?"

"Serenice, and you're welcome!"

"Miss Serenice!" He gave her a grateful smile. "Thank you- again-" He was backing out the door. "I hope to see you later-" He closed it shut behind him.

Then he whipped the paper clear from his chest and frantically began to read, making sure that he had read it right in that split second. Spoiler alert, he had.

Oh gods oh gods oh gods-

Why'd it have to be her of all people?

Out of everyone at this school?

Why couldn't it be someone...?

His jaw clenched.

Well, someone who he didn't want to punch in the face already? Why'd it have to be her?

Zuzu

"I think my schedule should say who my dormmate is." I looked at it and sighed out of relief. "At least it's not a total stranger."

At that, a knock sounded on the door.

I jumped up. "One second!" I straightened up my bunk and set my pack on it before rushing to open the door. "Hey, sorry about rushing out of the assembly hall so quickly, I was just excited."

Adrik stood there, his head ducked slightly, his hooded eyes avoiding Zuzu's. "Uh... yeah... sure." His eyes flitted past Zuzu and landed on the free bunk. "Could you move, maybe...Please?"

"Oh, right." I scooted over and flopped onto the bean bag couch. "I hope you like it in here. We've got an endless supply of caffiene in the form of Mountain Dew."

"I see." Adrik didn't elaborate further. He traced the tips of his fingers along the wall as he made his way to the bunk. He flopped down on it and placed his bag down on the neatly tucked black sheets. He frowned, and mumbled something to himself.

Realizing that I wouldn't be able to strike up a conversation, I grabbed the tv remote and turned something on.

Adrik pawed through the contents, seeming to be looking for something. At last, he gave a frustrated huff, and fell backwards. Unfortunately, his head connected with the wall in doing so.

"Ow!" He jerked upward. Wrong move. It hit the upper bunk. "OW!" he cried.

Adrik rubbed his head and glared at Zuzu, daring her to say a word.

Supressing a giggle, I took a sip of my drink.

"Well," he said at last. "Considering we're going to be living together, maybe we should try and introduce ourselves a bit beyond our names? Just a thought."

"Sure. Should we just list off important things, or do a few rounds of icebreakers?"

Adrik shrugged, which seemed to be a way of saying either: "I have no idea what you're talking about so sure"- or "I have no idea what you're talking about and I don't care, so go on."

Luna thought "Wait... Didn't we get roommates?" There was a knock on her door, and she opened it. The girl standing in the hallway was taller than Luna, with an astonishing long dress, black eyes, and dirty blond hair. Luna smiled as the girl walked into the room, and she tried not to step on her dress. "Hmm... Luna." The girl said slowly, her voice was rough but calm. Luna smiled, then said "Yeah... You?" The girl chuckled. "Annabeth Claire. Didn't you look at your sheet?" The girl said, again. "N-no..." Luna felt intimidated.
