You've just escaped The Lab, where you were experimented on for seven months. The Experiments gave you certain unnatural abilities, some easily concealed, others... Not so much. You couldn't get everyone out, though, so there are still a few of you there. Those who did escape are planning on rescuing the prisoners.

You wake in a cave, halfway up a mountain, with everyone else you escaped with. A couple of them are playing with cards, having woken up early. Your first thought it of everyone still in the lab, which isn't a great first thought. It's still early; the Sun has only just come up, spreading golden beams through the cave.

Caught
You failed to escape. You watched a few others run off into the sunset, leaving you behind, doubting, now more than ever, that you will escape. How long it will take the Scientists to break your mind, you don't know, but you reckon it'll be soon. You wake in your prison cell, your wrists chained to the wall, and see the other prisoners, also chained to the other walls.

Kiritin opened his eyes. The metal bandages he wore on his body has been reinforced. His wrists were chained to the opposite sides of his cell, the left to the right, the right to the left. His neck had been chained directly to the ceiling, to the four corners. His wings had been forced closed, a metal band strapped around them to keep them from opening. He was on his knees, his ankles chained to one another. He sighed, then opened his wings, the blades of bone easily slicing through the metal. Just to stretch though. His mind started to wander, his wings fully spread, and his arms crossed in front of him.

Faren woke with a yelp, startled. She soon remembered that she was still in the lab, chained to the wall. She was under less security than Kiritin - only her wists were chained to the wall, though she still couldn't break them. Her eyes darted around the room, as if searching for something. They land on Kiritin, with a hint of sadness. Her eyes widened as he broke whatever strange contraption was holding his wings in place. "Pss. Hey, dude, could you smile?" It was a strange request, but she needed to see a smile. Anything to lift her hopes.

Kiritin slowly turned to look at her. "The chains are weak at the ends, near the wall." He said only that, then started to state back into space. His wings waves slowly , in synchrony. Not as if he were flying, but they waved nonetheless.

May was in a bit of a different situation. She had something over her eyes, but she couldn’t quite tell what it was. It was cold and hard, so she assumed metal. It wasn’t very heavy, though, so maybe aluminum? It didn’t really matter, all that mattered now is that she was chained up quite uncomfortably. She could hear people talking around her, but couldn’t tell where or who they were. She decided not to speak up and continued to quietly sit in her cell

Faren glanced at the area of the chains that the boy had suggested. She tugged slightly, but couldn't manage it. With a slight huff, she turned to face the boy again. She opened her mouth to say something, but shut it a second later, deciding against it. The air around her flickered slightly, as if struck by electricity. Of course, nobody could see what she saw - ghosts, floating around the room, whispering riddles of insanity. She couldn't control when she saw them, but it always scared the hell out of her. She broke out of the trance with a sob, shaking uncontrollably. Why did she have to have this ability? It was by far the worst one.

"Their spirits are here." Kiritin spoke up when she sobbed. His eyes were closed, and his head was lolling to the right. One of his wings sliced the chain between his ankles, and he stood up fully. "Don't ignore them... Say hello." It seemed like he was just going off on another psychotic rant, but his face didn't carry the same intensity .

She laughed, and though it was meant to be sarcastic, it sounded slightly psychotic. "Oh, yes. Should I just say, 'Hey, people who have died from what we're currently going through, how's your dead day going?' I'm sure they would love that question." She eyed the chains that he had cut. He had cut them so easily, as if they were nothing more than butter. "Couldn't you escape?" She tilted her head, causing her hair to fall to one side.

Why would I need to? I have plenty of company.. Plenty of scientists to break. It's all fun and games here.. " He tilted his head. "Ask them questions. The spirits. Ask them what happened, or maybe if they could help you in any way." His wings kept waving in a nonexistent breeze, and he started to him a little when he closed his eyes.

"Most of them are mad..." She mumbled, thinking about what he had said. Biting her lip, she closed her eyes, attempting to speak to the spirits. When she opened them, though, she could only see the cell. She huffed, disappointed that she couldn't control her ability. She tried again, seeing a quick flicker of a see-through girl with tentacles, which disappeared a few seconds after.

Kiritin sat for a while longer in silence, then turned his head slowly, his eyes settling of the fallen silhouette of May. "You are awake, yes?" He tilted his head and moved a little closer to the bars.

“Yeah...” she sighed and turned her head away from the voice. “Can I please just be left alone...” she muttered, not doing much else. She didn’t really want to talk to anyone here, she knew it wouldn’t do her any good. At this point she didn’t even think about getting out, it was already impossible. Hope would just make it worse.

"Your hands are more free than you think... Remove your metallic blindfold." He shuffled backwards in his cell, smashing his wings against the back wall. His chains clinked and groaned as he leaned backwards, his arms straight out in front of him.

“How hard is it to hear ‘I just want to be left alone’...” she grumbled, still turned away from him. The sounds made from the chains annoyed her but she said or did nothing, she didn’t care enough to. “Why are you guys still so obsessed with escaping... Its impossible and even if we managed to do so, what’s left for us out there...? No one would welcome us back with open arms, and we’ve experienced all we needed to in life... Just give up already, it won’t do you any good...” she muttered, not realizing the little speech she was making.

"Nobody will accept us with open arms... Especially not me. Because they won't have arms to be open!" He started to chuckle, his more psychotic side showing. His chuckle grew until he was double over, cackling. It was quite loud, and surely would attract some attention.

“Whatever... It’s useless talking to you guys anyways...” she said quietly, trying to ignore the loud noises but had no luck. She had learned early on that her weird tactics in how she talked to others wouldn’t be any use here. She wouldn’t get any enjoyment out of it and it didn’t benefit her at all. She was just stuck being bored, slowly going insane.

Faren had listened to their conversation rather intently. She wanted to hear what they all had to say - if they were holding up as badly as she was. By the sounds of it, they were. She had become more depressed through the conversation, but decided to hide it, attempting to make them feel better. "I'm sure they'll come for us..." Her gaze was held on the one-sided window that they were being watched from. They would come - they had to.
Meanwhile, Jiy and Leam were playing Go Fish in a cave, about three miles away, where they had ran with everyone else after escaping. It was actually quite fun. Every so often, though, their thoughts drifted back to the people still in The Lab. There wasn't much they could do right now - they needed the others to wake up.

She huffed. This person may have given up, but Faren sure as Hell hadn't. She was about to retort with a not-so-smart comment when seven loud 'Click's sounded from the door. Slowly, as if biding it's own time, the door opened, grinding against the floor. A man walked in, looking rather modest. Faren tilted her head - she had never seen him before. He cleared his throat, before saying, "Hello, subjects. I will be your new scientist, seeing as someone," He cast a pointed glance at Kiritin, "Has made your previous head scientist unable to continue." A dozen guards came in at that point, standing around the Scientist. "I thought I might warn you that one of you will be experimented on in a few minutes." He turns to leave. "Oh, and by the way, you can call me Highheld." He smiled at us again, before exiting.

May said nothing, dreading what was coming next. She had already accepted that she might die anyways, and hopefully this experiment would be the end of her. She just wanted this to be over already, deal with the experiment and move on. She didn’t want to hear any more of those lies, she didn’t want to hear “encouraging words”, it was all just useless distractions to her.
