I'm wondering if your Pokemon can only come back from rumbles with only one item, or can they come back with more than one depending on the rumble area level?

They can come back with more items or even none. It is random, what they bring back. It may be possible that they have a higher chance bringing more items back, when the level of the area is higher, but I am not sure about this.
