In the lab, when I clicked the shiny ditto it vanished. I remember hearing it does something, but can't recall. What was it, again?

If the ditto disappears with a dialogue box showing "Hihihihi." Rowan will gift you a shiny ditto plushie.

Also note that even if the Ditto says "Hihihihi." it will not automatically guarantee a shiny Ditto Plushie. It's random there as well.
