Chapter 1: Regrets

As expected, not everyone had bothered to turn up for the last day of the school year. A grand total of nine students, out of twenty five, had turned up to Mrs Amaya's first class of the day. Some of which, she would have been surprised at, whilst others, not as much.

It had just turned eight thirty on the clock when the baby pink haired student appeared in the classroom. She said nothing as she walked over to her desk, by one of the windows at the front of the room. The female, who went by the name Chiura, was that one student who never failed to hand in their homework, always completed her work during lessons, never had a detention or even a scolding. You could say she was the teacher's pet of the class, if it wasn't her blunt attitude.

Chiura let her rucksack drop to the floor and shrugged off the black and white varsity jacket - the one she was never seen without. The jacket was then, carefully, draped over the back of her chair, where she then sat. She leaned over, shoving her hand into her bag and pulling out a hair brush and two, white hair scrunchies. This morning's wind had blown her hair everywhere so, fixing it, she quickly re-brushed it, taming it as well as she could without a mirror, and tied it up into her signature twin ponytails.

As she did, she was attempting to ignore the giggling of another female a few rows behind her. She didn't have to turn around to she who it was. Kiya. That bubbly girl she shared a lot of her classes with. She wasn't of any interest to Chiura, as she knew of, but nevertheless, Kiya amused her slightly. Kiya was the total opposite of Chiura: Outgoing, confident, bubbly, gullible, impatient. Yet, Kiya never let up the chance to try to get close to Chiura, as if it was her goal to become friends with her.

Chiura could her the light patters of the girls shoes, behind her, before feeling the weight of a small hand fall on her shoulder. She didn't flinch. Instead, she turned her head to the girl, looking at her with a blank expression. Kiya pouted, her sapphire blue eyes narrowing as they met Chiura's hazel ones.

"Can I help you?"

Kiya appeared startled by the question, the girl's tone catching her off guard, "I-i... Uh-"

"Because if no-"

It was Chiura's turn to be cut off by the classroom doors opening. Kyuichi (the boy many described as a loner) walked in, similarly to the way Chiura did just minutes ago. His movements so swift, she swore he glided to his seat which was across the room from her own. She'd recently admitted to herself that she might like him a small bit. His tan skin, his maroon hair, his cyan blue eyes... Just glancing at him was enough to make her cheeks flare a bright shade of pink but if anyone asked, she quickly denied all of if.

"What do even see in him?!"

Chiura, turned at smirked at Kiya, "Nothing. Why? Jealous?"

"Wha-? No!"

Kiya's head dropped, her long, white hair covering the almost entirety of her face. Realistically, she was extremely jealous. Though, Chiura was just teasing her, she had no idea of Kiya's true feelings for her.

"Now, if you don't mind, I would like to try to study before class starts."

Taking the hint, Kiya returned to her seat, her heart aching like she never thought it would.

Meanwhile, as Chiura turned to studying, as well as occasionally sneaking glances at the boy across from her, at the back of the room were sat the more popular students. They were either well liked or the heads of clubs and, thus, were considered important and superior.

Miyano and Esumi, a sweet couple. Miyano was one of the most intelligent students at the school and Esumi was just so timid and adorable, she could make anyone's heart melt. Kotake and Umeki - your usual jock and cheerleader couple. It's not common to see Kotake flirting with other girls and it's believed that that is why Umeki is so bitter to other people, because she's afraid that Kotake will leave her. Sosa and Yutori, another sweet, but goofy couple. They are the youngest in the class and they love to have fun, whether that's annoying each other or playing jokes on other people.

"I wish I stayed at home, I'm bored," whined Kotake.

"How about we play a game before Mrs Amaya arrives? I mean, we still have fifteen minutes," suggested Sosa.

"A maths game?" asks Miyano, earning a groan from Umeki.

"Ugh, no thanks."

"Then what kind of game?" Questions Esumi, aiming her question more towards Umeki than the group.

"How about Sachiko Ever After?" Yutori piped up from her game, "It's in the game I'm currently playing."

"Sounds lame..." Kotake sighs.

"Nope! If you play it right, you can have your wishes granted!"

"But then.... What happens if we play it wrong?" Miyano sounded slightly concerned about the possibility.

There was a short moment of silence before she answered, "Well, you get sent to a cursed realm called a Nirvana..."

The rest of the group broke out into laughter, causing Chiura, Kiya and Kyuichi to turn to them. The group began to mock her, not believing a word she'd just said. Chiura, herself, didn't believe it, but she felt bad for the girl who now had her knees to her chest.

"Well then why don't we test it?" Kiya says, suddenly - she must have overheard too.

There was silence once again.

"I agree. If you all think it's fake, let's try it. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?" Chiura raises her brow.

Slowly, one by one, everyone in the room agreed to play. Yutori explained the rules as she cut out a doll-shaped figure from a blank sheet of paper. The rules were as followed: Each player holds onto the doll; each person holding the paper must say "Sachiko, we beg of you" plus once more for Sachiko; when the paper has been torn, each player must keep their scrap of paper safe in order to escape the Nirvana.

Altogether they say "Sachiko, we beg of you" and pull apart the paper before realizing-

"Weren't we supposed to say it once more?" asked Esumi.

"Pfft, it's not like-"

"Good morning class~!" a female voice sang.

Mrs Amaya, had wandered into the classroom of now sheepish looking students, "What's going on? Only nine of you? Oh my, our attendance is poor."

No one wanting to explain to their teacher that they'd just preformed a potentially dangerous ritual, they hurried back to their seats. As much as they didn't believe anything could happen to them, regret lingered in the backs of their minds.
